That defeats the entire purpose of console. We already have PC's to serve that function.
Consoles are meant to be stable platform made specifically for game and games alone. Sony and Microsfot have twisted that with their media function focus and focus on hardware specs like that makes games better.
Super Mario Bros 1 on the NES is still more fun than 90% of the games that release these days.
Your alone thier. I bough tthe Wii U over the other console specifically for the gamepad.
Its also hardwired into the requirements for modes games on the console.
Dropping it would be like Sony dropping the Cell from the PS3.
It would have happen to Sony before Nitendo, as Nintendo's losses are minor compared to Sony's and they are currently worth more than Sony as whole.
@deafdani If Nintendo payed for developers to put something on their hardware that third parties were paying other companies to be able to put on their hardware(third parties have to pay licensing fees to sale the gamers, otherwise the console manufacturers wouldn't make any money) that would be disastrous.
It would set a precedent where every developer would expect Nintendo to pay to have the games on their console. It would cost Nintendo even more money. It would do not...
You could have got it for that price plenty of time earlier last year.
They cut the price repeatedly.
All that did was prove that price is not nor was it ever the issue.
@" it's nintendo that don't go out and get 3rd party games"
False:
Tekken Tag Wii U Edition
Fire Emblem X Capcom
Lego City
Bayonetta 2
Wonderful 101
Hyrule Warriors
Sonic Lost World
Historical fiction.
The Playstion had the most child gamers I've ever seen. Even now, I see more children asking for Sony hardware. Its mostly adults I see with Wii U's.
Do you know how many people are involved in all of these decisions that are going on?
Iwata has made the company more money in 10 years then they've made in the 100 before him.
He has made Nintendo worth more then the biggest hardware giant in Japan.
This is just one small set back that can still be recouped and likely will. Most people I know don't say they don't want a Wii U. They say they are waiting for "XXXXX" to come out before they get it (usually Smash Brothers).
The Wii U isn't dead yet and t...
Time is required to make games.
That isn't why they were fired though. They were fired for making a $600 console that still cost the company money when it sold and didn' sell much. They were garnering Sony a negative reputation with trash talk and costing them what they had spent 10 years building up.
The Wii U is losing money but it pales in comparison to how much Sony lost in the PS3's first 3 years.
Nintendo leads the industry and others copy them. Please explain "old ways" to me.
Sony and Microsoft have followed the same principles since they entered into the console business.
@RogerTriton, because they don't want him to pull up sales of the Wii U and make Nintendo all around more successful than their preferred companies again.
That is why anytime a problem emerges with the company, they always attack the things that are the most successful.
1. Nintendo's older franchises.
2. Cheaper, lower spec hardware
3. Iwata(and some times other company heads like Miyamoto).
He also responsible for the GBA's success, the GC's small success(it was profitable despite the hate it got) the DS's success, the Wii's success, and the 3DS's success.
If you were the manager of a Football team and you fired a head that was 5 and 1 then you and your team would deserve the failure's and eventual bankruptcy you would incur afterwards.
Of course, the Wii U hasn't ended production. Nintendo can still easily pull the ...
So Nintendo can die?
The company just lost 230$ million, but Iwata has made the company over 10$ billion. He made Nintendo worth more than Sony.
He would be one of the last things I'd want to see leave my business.
Of course, how much success he has brought Nintendo is probably why all of you want to see him go. I've never seen people who won't Iwata to go speak well of Nintendo, only of Sony, so you clearly don't have Ninten...
Their goal isn't to move more consoles. Its to make the console profitable.
Nintendo is selling the Wii U at a loss. They are expecting software sales to cover the cost.
Moving more console for to people who's only intent is to bootleg software isn't going to make them a penny. It is going to cost them money on every console sold.
It probably just their next handheld. Nintendo always releases their handheld first.
We aren't going to see a new console until we see a new handheld.
It would make every problem Nintendo is having right now so much worse.
Third. doesn't this sound just like the crap people did with the nonexistent "WiiHD" in the past?
Nintendo already owns the license to the series this games is modeled after. If they wanted a game like this, they could just make it themselves.
There are too many issues with that company for anyone sane to buy it.
Not really. Reports say that sells are on the up and up.
Charts show that the monthly sales increasing and it has been proven time and time again that the sale increase damatically whenever a major title releases. The Wii U has a boatload of major titles coming out this year. All signs show that the console is prime to get back on track.
It definitely wouldn't be Sony. Why would Nintendo sell out to a company it is now worth more than?
Do you know how many times I've said this on this site(and lost bubbles for it).
Most of the doom and gloom about Nintendop is inflated and manufactured by the heavy and bias and agenda of most most game "pseudo"-journalists .
