It's nice to have a open discussion on this site. The more I think about it as much as I hated playing Raiden in MGS2 it would have been fun to use him in MGS4 to add to the gameplay. Instead of watching him fight in a ton of cutscenes they could have done a shorter (but still awesome) cutscene and then put the player in control.
I know a lot of people hated playing anyone but Snake in MGS2 but in this case you'd play as Snake most of the time but also take control of the sup...
The problem is when you say anything about this the fan boys just jump on you like sharks. It's as if this game has to be know as perfect. While it is far from perfect its still a quality game, even if you watch half of it.
What would have been cool is instead of just telling all the backstory in cutscenes they let you play through it in MGS4 level graphics. I'd love to see a remake of MG and MG 2 for the MSX2 using this engine.
Well as long as they are first to market with a properly designed machine then their is nothing wrong with that. I really hope they do better testing this time around and build the next Xbox like a tank.
Yeah I was at like 16:44 or something on my first play through normal for previous MGS players. Great game but I still feel like there should have been more gameplay. From Act 3 on I felt like all I was doing was watching not playing. A gaming classic for sure but some additional gameplay and proper editing away from being a masterpiece.
Great game but it could have been longer on the actual game play and less on the cut scenes (same content just better editing). I know there were ways to fit more of the story into the gameplay. I wish they would have been full explored.
The guys review was put together wrong but MGS4 isn't a 10/10. It's a AAA title but it still has a boad load of flaws. One of the biggest being the fact you watch the game more then you play it. I've completed the game and my girlfriend was around for it and asked if I actually play. She keep saying "Are you enjoying your movie?". lol I enjoyed the game though, just wish they figured out a away to put more of the story into the actual gameplay.
I just finished the game on normal. It was a lot of fun but I have to say most of the time I was just watching and not playing. While the cut scenes are great this is suppose to be a game. It just seemed it was short game play sequence followed by cutscene after cutscene. Not the gameplay experience I expected but a fun time nonetheless.
Even if I'm only watching it 1/3 of the time.
The story always seem to have some really oddball moments that take you out of what otherwise is a very serious storyline. I'm enjoying MGS4 so far but just wonder what it would be like playing without characters taking a crap in their pants and doing stupid stuff that takes away from a serious situation.
I'm enjoying the game but this review pretty much hits at the same shortcomings I've found with it. I get frustrated as hell at times but I keep coming back for more! I have a feeling the lack of polish in some areas had to do with internal Tecmo affairs.
I didn't realize my 8800GTS (G92) SLI setup running everything other then Crysis at 1920x1080 maxed out wasn't "HD". Which after rebate was $400 for me a few months back.
NG2 is better in graphics but not by much. There is more going on at one time in NG2 compared to NGS most of the time, which probably leads to some of the slowdown. Regardless they are both great games.
Heck they should just use the Soul Calibur Engine and make a straight up Star Wars fighting game. However, I hope that Vader and Yoda will be free DC for the opposite system they come on.
The XBR8 looks really sweet with the LED backlighting. It looks like they also fixed the smearing issue with the XBR4 and W3000 sets from last year. The only problem is the XBR8 makes the 9G Kuro look cheap. I hope the MSRP is just really high but the street price will be much lower at launch.
No doubt, I think the lawsuit pretty much confirmed that.
I'm enjoying the game so far on the warrior setting. I'm only in the middle of level two since I didn't have that much time to play last night. I got rocked a bunch of times but it has been fun. I get tired of games I beat in two days without even trying hard. I have Sigma for the PS3 and even though that's in a higher resolution NG2 looks much better. Plus the realtime Cinema doesn't pull you out of the game like the videos in Sigma.
Or better yet about a new Castlevania on the PS3 or 360 in Full 1080P 2D! I don't see the Wii carrying a large Castlevania fan base like the DS.
This is such a backwards move. Sure most people won't hit 40GB a month but still why set a limit? Just deal with people that are abusing the network one by one. Oh that's right it probably costs a little extram money to do that. ....ugh!
How does someone disagree with my comment? That makes no sense to me. Did someone watch me play 35 hrs and see it freeze more then once or not at all? Sometimes this site makes no sense.
