and I know my fellow PS3 owners are going to disagree with me, but I could've done without this.
First off I know HOME is free, is entirely optional to use, and didn't cost me a dime. But, it wasn't free for Sony to make this thing. They could've taken that money and done any number of things: improve the trophy loadout; maybe allow for custom avatars; leaving voice messages;...I don't know...something!

lol. So sayeth the person with so much knowledge about Sony's internal financial structure or goals. I think that if the PS3 is only outsold 2x1 whilst being 200 bucks more expensive than 360 AND while the country (USA) is in a recession, then hey...it's not that bad. In fact, maybe not bad at all.

I watch the show for entertainment and not the truth. If he's right, good stuff. If not, hey, I never came to the show looking for real news anyway. The kid makes me laugh and his show is entertaining.

Look, Sony made mistakes but they had foresight with their console which will pay off.
Blu-ray was a major forward thinking decision. 400gb discs are being discussed now. That's an insane amount of space for a dev to play with.
Standard HDD. They took a lesson from MS on that one. How MS made such a "major mistake" refraining for standard HDD is insane to me....
the deal was for 2 games. 3rd one could go multi but MS has the option to renogotiate the deal. However, much like with GTA, Devil May Cry, etc, the potential earnings for going multi might be too much for Epic to pass up. Sony does have a rather significant base in the US and in Europe.

The cheapest tvs outsell the higher end ones. Walmart sells more clothes than the top designers sell. Payless sells more shoes than Nike. See where I'm going? If the Wii is a competitor it is only in the generic sense because it sells the same item as the other two.

I'm in the beta and had a blast meeting people this afternoon. It sucks just staying in your place but that's only because there's not much you can do in there. No TV, no music, only so much in the way of furniture.
BUT...hanging out in the courtyard or whatever it's called is sweet. But you really have to have a keyboard to keep up. Still, some people were launching warhawk and others were playing pool. I'm telling you, Home could be really special.

or a profile that loads faster? Flash is cool but I really use my PC to use any site that utilizes Flash. I'd really like the next firmware to focus on making what's available in terms of profiles, avatars, and the like better rather than give me stuff I won't really use. I know it's a free upgrade but Sony, I really don't like having to wait a minute plus to see my or a bud's profile.
but what happens when you factor in the 1.8 billion dollar loss for that warranty? And that warranty expired for launch owners recently. Are you going to extend it? If so, then we can probably say it's going to be a 2 billion dollar loss.
But hey, I guess people paying 50 bucks plus a year just to play games online equates to winning. Kudos MS for getting people to pay for what they get for free on PS3.
I know it's not mandatory. We all know that. Okay, it's not a game. Cool. It's free for us to use. Great.
But it's a waste of resources by a company that drastically needs to push hardware. This money could've gone to advertising games, making existing features better, etc.
And before you mention other free things that Sony offers, let me just say that I LOVE the fact that PSN is free. I think PSN and it's dedicated servers is the best service out there considering...
