@AliTheSnake1
But that is only 960 x 1080 each eye. That is kind of low res for VR. You will get allot of SDE.
It is how the screens look on the inside that count. Oculus at 4K per eye will look much better than 960 x 1080 per eye (1920 x 1080 is total) on the Morpheus.
You will be looking at the screens while playing, not the outside casing. That said the Morpheus will be a decent entry level kit.
Except they don't make OLEDs. They only made that 11" OLED TV as a test years ago but no more. I would bet they use screens from Samsung in these. The OLED screen in the Galaxy note is 5.7 too but higher res.
That said 1920 x 1080 is not all that great of resolution especially when the horizontal resolution will be 960 x 1080 for each eye. I saw Samsung VR with the Galaxy note and it had noticeable screen door effect. The Note screen is higher res at 2,560 x 1,44...
People want quality then don't want to pay for it. If it is good and a bit more money they complain about the price. If it is cheap and is crap then they complain that it is crap.
You can't have both man that is just not how it works. I would like a top of the line PC with a Titan Z for 500 bucks but it isn't reality.
OLED screens are expensive, But LCDs SUCK for VR. They are cheap but too slow and have too poor black levels. Then you need to...
@Bathyj
The joke wasn't that bad... it made me feel smart :D
But your bubbles, damn, I now have bubble envy. I might need therapy.
Yeah but the xbox has DX12 that will magically upgrade the hardware on their GPU to a better one (just you wait, pretty soon games won't run in 792p anymore they will now go up to 900p!), the cloudz, apps, updates (yeah I love the gameplay in those updates, so much fun watching the progress bar).
Then they have the megaton, the secret sauce hidden double stacked GPU lol.
Because most games release unfinished and broken and require 10 patches to get the working version. There is almost no point buying day one, as what you get is a busted piece of crap.
Wait a couple of months, get a more working version (unfortunately still relies on patches but at least they are done) and maybe get it cheaper too.
Buy/preorder day one and get a more expensive and More buggy version or wait and get the working cheaper one? I say the latter. ...
Yes the Order is rendering at 1:1 pixel mapping giving the same density. The problem is that it isn't rendering the whole 1080 lines in the screen. There is a reason there is the number "1080" in the 1920 x 1080p standard. The order is not a full 1080p, and neither are Blu-ray movies that have bars. It is somewhere in between as it is more than 900p and less than 1080p.
If a game came out at 900p but was left unscaled so that there was a black border all arou...
@nicksetzer1
You can't "increase the pixel size". Todays displays are fixed pixel, they are always the same size.
"Xbox One actually creates additional pixels making it 1080x1920"
That is also not quite right. I have both of these consoles and upscaled PS4 images look the same as upscaled X1 images. Sorry but there is no secret upscale sauce in the X1. They all basically do the same thing.
The prob...
@Helios86
No I would want the QTEs to be gameplay
Elements.
More DRM loaded services that get between you and "your" content? No thanks we have more than enough. But hey if people keep using and joining them why not? It is a way for publishers to fulfill their dream of killing used games and having control over the way users can use content.
This article is about graphics and improved performance that is why they talk about grpahics.
You can't improve APIs and middleware that makes good stories, that is up to the studios.
Not really, imagine the graphics of the order but full screen with no black bars. That would be better.
If they make a sequel and fix the problems of this one such as short length, QTEs, and black bars, I think it would be a great IP.
Why would they want to have to downgrade the graphics to get it running on the Xbox?
Meh. I am so tired of the "every game needs online MP" argument. If you need that play COD or Destiny.
All MP would do is make the SP game even shorter as there is always a limited budget and these guys aren't EA with tons of cash.
My wish for the sequel is to be much bigger, have real boss fights and no QTEs.
But do all games need to be "innovative" to be fun? In my opinion the answer is no. Far cry 4 was fun but was anything but innovative. It was a run in the mill FPS. I think too many times reviewers put too much weight on "innovation".
After awhile you run out of things that are innovative, you can only do so much with the format.
My gripe with the Order is that it is too short with too many QTEs.
No. Episodic sucks for the most part. And it doesn't need online MP tacked on either.
All they would have had to do is flesh out the game with more gameplay levels, Ditch most of the QTEs and change those parts to gameplay and leave the cutscenes as is. If the gameplay part was longer it would have balanced out the cutscenes and had a better play to watch ratio and would have been a longer game.
@averagejoe26
The average completion time of the Order is around 6-8 from what they say around here. I don't know many getting 12 hours out of this.
One movie ticket does not equal the experience of the video game is your opinion, some may enjoy the movie more. What if the movie was an imax 3D movie? That is not something you can use either.
If you compare the Order with other GAMES, the correct measure, it just doesn't hold up to m...
It is 960 x 1080 each eye. Read the specs, the 1920 x 1080 is total. So it will be like rendering any other 1080p 2D game to the GPU.
