Strange as it actually looks like an xbox 360 game even on PS4. Dem graphics...man, they hurt my eyes.
There are still negatives with this game.
Those are: Annoying black bars cutting off almost 1/4 of the screen resolution, too linear, short at only 8 or so hours, and too many QTEs.
Ryse had those same qualities of a short 8 hour QTE riddled game with low res non full HD but otherwise good graphics.
We will find out soon if the good things overcome those flaws.
I think of "indie" games as small games with low production values and as a result PS2-ish or even SNES type graphics that are download only with no retail store disc release.
There are exceptions but that seems to be the bulk of them.
Couldn't there just be a difficulty setting like most games? Have a "normal" to be more accessible and "nightmare" mode which matches the difficulty of Souls games? Now it is both more accessible AND challenging for those who want that.
BTW this is called *Bloodborne* not Dark Souls III. Not sure why it gets bashed for not being Dark Souls III when it ISN'T Dark Souls III. I think this game looks good with lots of mood. My only concern is leng...
First there was DLC that came out a few months after the game. Now there are DLCs that are day one. There are season passes that make you buy content kept out of the main game a bit at a time for a year. Pretty soon we will buy a game and they will sell us levels one at a time as "episodes". I guess the goal is to make games cost $80.00 and up now and make much of the content digital download only. These things will stop if we stop buying them. My suggestion, stop buying them,...
I usually buy physical but for this game does it matter? It is online-only right? So when they pull the servers for this eventually the game disc will be unusable anyway wouldn't it? I usually avoid online only games for that reason, they expire when the publisher no longer has online support for it. For a game like this that is too bad. I could see still exploring the game long after the MP is not supported especially since they say seing other players is rare and not the main focus...
That is too short. You can have this beat in 2 nights. That seems like a waste of $60.00, that is $30.00 a night of play. With not having MP to worry about you would have thought they could have put more development and time into making the SP longer. This is a good game to rent or wait until it is in the bargain bin.
Before the QTE nonsense started NO games had them. I guess no one should have been playing games until the wonderful super-fantastic concept of QTEs were done?
Pushing a button to shoot is not a QTE. They don't randomly change the button you use to shoot and you don't need to do it at the EXACT moment when they tell you by flashing the button they want you to press on screen. Nice try though.

heman? ok whatever ther...
I just hope the final game has a first person mode like this demo, it is more immersive and scary. When these things look like they are happening to *you* rather than an on-screen "game character sprite" it makes it more intense.
You can always have a third person option/toggle to keep traditionalists from bitching.
How are cutscenes, QTEs, and almost on-rails linear "innovative"?
The graphics don't even look that great. It is just dark and foggy with blurry textures. After the recent downgrade it looks even worse. The uniforms/character models that were super detailed now look simple and have a lack of detail. Detail was removed from the environments too which is strange given the reduced 800 line resolution instead of 1080. You have those HUGE and obtrusive black bars obs...

Exclusives are over rated when it comes to sales. Those enthusiasts that care about them already know which system they will buy or have already bought one.
I would think that many of those buyers of X1 that flocked to it with the price cut are those who were planning on getting one anyway and were just waiting for the right game or price to make their move. I really doubt that many were going to get a PS4 then decided on X1 instead because it is $50.00 cheaper. Price dropp...
"It means the game is ready to sell, optimized to a point where the developers are happy for game discs to start being printed."
So I guess that means the game is about 75% complete. Now work on the 6 GB day one patch starts... So much for these consoles not needing to be online all of the time. Maybe not needed for 24 hour check ins, but needed to download the rest of your games that are on disc unfinished. This is next gen...
Gone gold huh? I guess that means now the game is 60% complete and they now start on the obligatory 5 GB day one patch to fix and complete the broken buggy mess that ships on disc...
Isn't the way this goes these days? Me wait for reviews.
Downgrade. Look at the uniforms, way less detailed now. Everything looks dark and muddy too, with less detail and more soft textures.
I wouldn't count on that. Exclusives are way over rated when it comes to selling systems for the masses. That is where we are at now. Most "enthusiasts" that read sites like these and make lists of exclusives pretty much already bought their system or have decided which one they will get soon.
The masses, casuals to semi gamer types who walk into a store and buy a system on a whim don't care or know much about exclusives. They just look at the selection ...
I don't think it has anything to do with American product (it is made in China anyway, not America).
It sold well because it was CHEAP! Cost is king. They were almost giving them way with the price cut then all of the bundles throwing free games at you. They also advertised the hell out of it. Most people see the price and think it is "good value", they don't realize that they are getting the weaker console with the inferior GPU that has so much trouble hit...
@DougLord
If you look at what MS had to do to "win" I wouldn't be that excited.
They basically had to lower the price way down, advertise the hell out of it, then keep throwing free games at you and shower you with gifts until you say "uncle" and buy one. I am not impressed. If the deals were the same as the PS4 and still did that well then maybe you would have a reason for a victory lap.
It is nice for X1 fans that...
Yeah designers these days all treat us like we are all imbeciles. They think everyone needs hand holding constantly. Honestly if we were that dumb we wouldn't play games, we would be drooling and staring at a blank wall.
I am now playing Dragon Age and they have this HUGE annoying banner taking up the upper right quarter of the screen telling me what to do. They then have this big useless transparency effect (I guess that is supposed to be "artistic" or someth...
I just don't think ES has star power as an MMO. The series was best noted for the SP offline RPG games. If this was a new entry in the ES series (or even a remaster of Skyrim for PS4) I would have been excited for it, as an MMO though my interest is zero.
