@JorboTron
Yes if the phone part of phones was crappy but had allot of apps it would not sell as well.
"What is wrong with something that plays games and does more. If it still plays games why is that a negative? "
Because it doesn't play games as well due to weaker GPU and more overhead for OS. It usually has lower framerates lower resolutions, lower texture detail, foliage, and lighting on multiplatform games.

5 hour games with black bars covering a big part of the TV is the future? Hope not.
Yeah but it is a 5.5 hour movie. That is long for a movie, although pretty short for a game.
You can still beat it in one night so that is pretty bad.
Downgrade you mean. What happened to all of those metal pieces on the uniforms and around the neck? They were all removed and are now just flat cloth. definitely looks like they took stuff out, not added.
It is too bad there are a bunch of other devices that do those things. Many TVs have media stuff built in then there are all of the pads, smartphones, PCs, Apple TV, Roku, etc. that do "cloud" and "multimedia".
I guess people wanted a game console to be more focused on, you know, games.
I feel stupid too when a game starts getting me all verklempt. I stop and say to myself, "it is just a stupid game you idiot!" "why are you getting choked up about a bunch of polygons"? I don't have that reaction with movies for some reason, I guess because they are real humans even though the story is fake. Because they are real humans I feel it is ok to get emotional. With a game getting all emo over a game character seems the same as if I started bawling if a d...
I think you will get all emotional and start bawling like a school girl. Why? Well you will be crying at the end credits saying : That is it? The game is over already? I just paid $65.00 for a 6 hour game? 2 hours of that were cutscenes and QTE's? Man I feel so sad, and worse yet I bought it digital so I can't sell it to get some of my money back! I know that would make me emotional (mostly mad).
Copout. The shots would be just as wide but now showing MORE at the top and bottom if it was fullscreen. It DOES have to do with performance, the dev even said so. The black bars allow 4xMSAA, meaning if they rendered at the full 1080 lines they wouldn't have had the power to also add the MSAA,so they had to make a tradeoff in resolution. The "cinematic" dodge was just a convenient excuse they they could grab on to.
The pixel density is the same as 1080p (is...
The screenshots look ok, except that one quarter of your screen is unused being covered by big black bars.
Hopefully The Order 2 will be fullscreen.
I liked it more than I thought I would. There were flaws for sure but what game is perfect? Honestly it didn't bug out on me either(PS4). So many games are broken buggy messes especially from Ubi that this one was surprisingly stable, for me anyway. I didn't need a 6 gig patch every week and my save game files didn't delete themselves. Isn't that a rarity these days?
The graphics were decent even after the downgrade. Maybe the next one will have a first p...
@Man_Among_Mice
Why can it only be one of those, short and fun or long and not fun? (ever hear of Skyrim or Fallout?)
There needs to be a balance. Some COD campaigns can be fun but they are so short.
To me a 10 hour game is too short for a $60.00 price, especially a game so linear it has little replay value. Since it is also single player only (fine by me as I prefer SP) I would expect the time saved from not having to do MP content to be pu...
Hate to tell you but only 4-5 gigs are useable for games. The rest is overhead for the OS and all of those social feature BS that people love so much. Also 2 of the cores are also reserved for non game functions, such as the share function etc.
If this game was on PC it could be 60 FPS and full screen.
@kayos
What is "flare" about covering 20% of the screen? Nothing. Widescreen TVs are already 16:9 which is a "cinematic" aspect ratio anyway. Only the naïve or fanboys can't see or admit that the bars are there to increase performance. The Last of Us remaster does not have the visuals of the Order. The lighting, character models, etc are not the same, it was an enhanced PS3 game (I have and beat TLOU R BTW). More effects tax the GPU more.
You should be able to backup digital games (and patches for physical games for that matter). This way you could transfer to another HDD without re-downloading everything again which is DUMB since you already have the file. Why should we have to download something we already have?
And no it wouldn't enable piracy. The files are already locked to the console with DRM so those files would not work if transferred to a different PS4.
That is why I don'...
@Ciporta1980
The bars are there PRESICELY because the console (or their code) can't handle it. Why else would they be there ? Come on, if they could have just as easily have done full screen they would have. Atmosphere? really? Making your TV screen smaller delivers what "atmosphere"? That is just a stupid excuse. Only fanboys or retards believe otherwise. Cutting out 537600 pixels definitely does help performance and tht is why they did it.
I...
I liked Dead Island so it being similar but improved is a good thing not bad. I remember the zombies looking more gruesome and real in DI though. Here so far they look like white plastic.
@BitbyDeath
Yeah black pixels, AKA: BLANK!
It can't render at 1080p without the 1080 part! 1080p spec is 1920 x 1080 not 1920 x 800. That is a loss of 537,600 pixels, RIP.
It takes no GPU power to render black pixels that don't change. Yes they did it to reduce the resolution so they could use the power elsewhere, but I don't like it. It makes my TV smaller. It isn't like a movie that was filmed that way so they kept the ...
Well graphics like these are not that hard when you cut off 1/4 of the screen resolution with black bars. It is cheating and don't give me that "cinematic" BS, TVs are already widescreen hence "cinematic". The only place you should see black bars is if you are playing on an old 4:3 CRT TV. Everyone with a brain knows they had to reduce the resolution to get the game to look like it does and not be a choppy mess.
Do a game like this at full HD 1080p ...
Being that the game is so short you will have plenty of time for the research after you finish..
How mindblowing it LOOKS, not plays. There is not much play there when it is only 5 hours including tons of cutscenes. Also it doesn't look that great when a quarter of your screen is blocked out with big intrusive black bars.
Yes he spent 6 hours watching a game, it is *free* to do so, playing it will cost $60.00. Since it is a lot of cutscenes anyway you aren't missing a whole lot by just watching. That is what you will mostly do even if playing it anyway.
