Wii U is profitable and has a pretty good attach rate too. So why is it doomed again?

No one is going to want a gamepad-less model, you "break" the software development cycle where all software knows there is a gamepad, and you create a useless SKU.

If anything Nintendo should let users buy extra gamepads, remove region restrictions and not tie accounts to hardware (in which case I buy another Wii U immediately).

They could also lower the price and/or offer an upgrade route in 2016 to a more powerful unit - although I'm skeptical...

Right, because everyone buys consoles for the brand/cpu, not for the exclusives available?

Okay, you lost me on the "Both Nintendo and Microsoft continue to bring more of the same when it comes to exclusives but somehow people will attempt to call them great or innovative while Sony is the only one not clinging to sure system sellers and releasing new diverse franchises..."

Seriously? What new product has Sony brought out? From MS I saw Sunset drive. From Nintendo I saw Captain Toad and perhaps you'd include Hyrule Warriors, Wonderful 101 and Bayon...

PS4 is dominating console sales, but what is interesting is the attach rate (if we are talking about resurgence). Forgive me for using VGCHartz, but according to the latest http://n4g.com/news/1649176...

The attach rates are:

1) Wii U - 4.66
2) PS4 - 4.12
3) X1 - 4.02

The attach rate for the X1 is lower than I expected (given I believe the X1 gener...

@Death Sorry, but the reality is that X1 and PS4 (unlike Nintendo) compete with PCs, and not very well I might add.

I'll get a PC over either of those consoles, unless there are a number of compelling and exclusive games.

"The WiiU has no hope of having anything other tjan the bronze medal this gen".

Really? They keep dropping the AAA games they have been, and Sony and MS keep up with minimal exclusives, and I see everyone moving to a PC and Nintendo console.

Virtually every top 10 list I see has Smash Bros, MarioKart8 and Bayonetta 2.

I'm sure you and your boyfriends will love it too.

Smash Bros is truly great, but I have to say that MarioKart 8 is far better ... and I don't even like racing games.

Bayonetta 2 is pretty damn nice too.

I don't know where you get the idea that updates are long I barely notice the Wii U updates as it updates itself?

More importantly, I rarely have a piece of software having to update itself with fixes every time I turn it on.

You're going to probably find that the Wii U chews up all your gaming time. Not a bad thing, but you may see your PS4 delayed .... you'll be too busy :)

Be honest uth11. You had a Vita and it lined up with that.

Never having owned a console before I became a Wii user in 2006. Many like myself, moved to PS3 in 2008-2009 when the PS3 "price came back to earth". I purchased the Wii U because it frankly has better games at this point.

I'm likely never moving to a PS4 or Xbox1 as an alternative to clutter up my living room because:

1) A PC (and likely a laptop) is better and has m...

As Nintendo explained, the Japanese Tsunamai threw back their production schedules by about a year. Nintendo can take part of the blame on delays, but so can acts of god.

Wii U has a huge advantage in this area, Uth11. Outside of the "no mapping required", EVERY game is built with this in mind as it is an integral part of the unit.

Nothing against what the PS4 provides, but it isn't the same as playing with a gamepad. Try it out with friends.

I agree - that is clearly the Wii U's killer feature.

I picked up a 2TB USB2 Seagate for $75 a year ago - no Y cable required as it has its own power supply (which was recommended).

You don't seriously think LBP is ever coming to the Xbox1 or Wii U, do you? The publisher is Sony who own the rights.

Not only that, but the Unreal 4 engine does not support the Wii U.

Bad "non" article to put up to begin with, so they make us all share the pain?

So why did the author presume that the Microsoft and Nintendo communities would have ANY interest in this?

Seriously. Where were the mods on this?

4079d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

We need these ported over to the Wii U immediately!!

Yes, I'm serious.

I cared. I agree the Wii U Eshop is generally a bad deal, for any number of reasons, starting with price, moving to lack of resale.

However ... I have purchased most of my software on the Eshop because I don't want disks hanging around. I had a bunch of un-redeemed codes and was thankful for the reminder. Picked up $50.
