Sony may soon run out of choices. They have already had to cancel their dividends, and they need to decide what they are staying in or getting out of, if they wish to remain viable.

They could sell Playstation's IP (perhaps) to Nintendo or MS, but that is a less likely scenario. If they are staying with Playstation they need to seriously look at selling other divisions including movies, insurance and/or solid state devices to fund growth in areas they decide they want t...

Yeah - that "real men make up their own minds" is just another way of saying ...

... real men are stupid and cough up the cash because they believe whatever hype we put out there.

Metacritic is garbage? Then you forget to "garbage" Metacritic and attack extraneous Nintendo issues instead?

Anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows you buy the hardware BASED ON THE SOFTWARE THAT RUNS ON IT - not the other way around. Get it through your skull that hardware doesn't mean squat if the software isn't good.

While "good" is arguably subjective, Metacritic defines it as well or better than anybody else at the mom...

I use Metacritic and have found it to be fairly accurate. I took a look at Warhammer 40K and depending on the version/platform it does actually score decently well - mid 80s. If it is over 85 I generally consider it a sure buy.

Splintercell conviction is also mid 80s - an 85 score.

Those are GOOD games according to Metacritic.

Mike, pay attention!

That's a flawed way to view things. There is not relationship between the hardware and the game quality when they are all all capable of running 60fps 1080p.

To the extent higher resolutions are available that provide "photorealism" (The Order:1886 scores 65 in spite of its beautiful graphics), it is a relatively minor factor in scoring.

More proof? Take a look at almost any cross platform game and you wil...

VERY few really good scores. There is a "single" outlier at 95 on Metacritic and the next best is 80 - and from there it drops fast.

The reviews aren't actually all that mixed. Take a look at them all on Metacritic and you'll see that this particular review is ... by a long shot ... the highest review.

Hey I get up every day and put on my big boy pants and go to work as I have for decades now, but I don't waste money on mediocrity as I did when I was a child.

This review is a clear anomaly, far off the curve of other reviews.

This particular review stands way outside the norm for reviews of this game.

Look at the list of reviews and read them. You'll quickly see something is off with this review. Probably written by Sony.

Actually they aren't all over the place. This particular review is outside the standard deviation for this game.

The Order is decidedly mediocre and if this is Sony's "new flagship", it's the Titanic.

Yeah, I used to be young and foolish, and then began to realize that not a single game that I had purchased scoring in the 60s or less was a game I liked or that I thought I had received good value from.

Not one single game - and I've been buying games for a very long time.

I don't want to waste my time, and I don't want to waste my money. Perhaps it is an imperfect system but it has proven itself. In the 70s range I find it a bit more questiona...

"...for those who can't or won't form their own opinion" .... and those who don't want to waste money and time on mediocrity.

In the mid 70s you have more room for argument. Not really the case in the mid 60s.

There is no debate .... a mid 60s score on Metacritic ended the debate today.

The Order is officially .... mediocre.

I was joking. I'm an "old guy" who can barely get 2 stars :)

That being said, I love the game. Now I'm stuck in Metroid till I go back to it. Come on ... you can take on your brother :)

Yes, we all sit around hoping for failed games *sarcasm*. Are you serious?!

How the heck is gameplane?

I check Metacritic and don't see anything scored by this site.

I'll wait for the real reviews.

The software sell through on the Wii U is very good, and the sales are up significantly. Nintendo's software doesn't devalue much over the years either.

I just purchased games originally released a decade ago, because I can play them on the Wii U. The software has lasting, even if accreting, value.

"They scaled back the RAM" and "GPU mediocre" - Put that in terms of graphics bandwidth and compare it to the other consoles. Then we can talk about the reality of the specs.

"the CPU is really just a Wii CPU with 3 cores" - and a PS4 and X1 is just a faster X86 chip with more cores. Your point?

" it has no internal HDD" - Seriously? This is your problem? The $50 2 Terrabyte drive was worth it. Have tons of great ...

A 7.5 sure isn't good ... since always. Doesn't mean it is complete junk, but it does mean "exercise extreme caution" before purchasing.

"never really understanding why I still can't beat my brother"

It's all in the drifting and secret passages ;)
