Won't hold up against Unity lawsuit, unless they brought this to the attention of the licensees in that context.
Again, it comes back to marketing. It isn't so much the 3rd party product, as it is the marketing they bring to the table. Nintendo has had a fail on the marketing end of things, and lack of concurrent 3rd party marketing hasn't helped.
That being said, this generation I think (at this point - things change) the Wii U and a PC are the best choices. Far more 3rd party product on the PC and great couch/co-op play interactive and exclusive software on the Wii U.
In fairness, the Wii U won the console war "in his home". Small battlefield, that :)
The Wii was an anomaly (by any measure) and I'm pretty certain Nintendo themselves knew they wouldn't easily get to those sales levels again.
That being said, it isn't selling as well as the PS4 or Xbox1. That isn't for lack of high quality games, and it seems reasonable to chock that up to Nintendo's marketing being way off the mark.
@Angeljuice
First, I don't generally care what a title is called if it is getting Metacritic scores in that range. Why do you care? Because you're afraid of appearing childish in your peer group.
You've admitted you haven't played many Nintendo games - so you're a troll. I already knew that too, from your comments.
I actually feel a bit sorry for you. You need to come here and troll, comment on things you've never ...
I know. You can always tell someone who doesn't own a Wii U by their nonsense comments about the games they've never tried.
@mikeslemonade
OH, mike, mike mike. You've trolled yourself down to a single bubble but you still soldier on, continuing with nonsense like "Wii U Games aren't graded as high as current gen hardware spec game".
I guess you missed the fact that WIi U is a "current gen hardware spec". You also live in some fantastical world where the game scoring is based on the equipment,not the "quality of the game".
...
@Razjin Easy to get high scores for established franchises? Care to explain COD? Medal of Honor? Sonic? I could keep going, but you get the point. The "only" thing that an established franchise does, is reduce initial marketing costs. It doesn't impact how people feel about the game, and in fact I'd argue that there is more required from an established franchise - they have to top themselves each time.
Nintendo has maintained some long-term franchise...
I referred to critics and users. What was your point?
Not an issue when 90% are coming to my PC.
"slightly better graphics and a few new features"? Really?
Then why are the games getting such high scores with users and critics alike?
As for "investing when it becomes cheap" I'd point out that it comes with more pack-in games and doesn't cost $5 a month for ... forever. Don't get me wrong, but it is the primary console, along with a PC.
You seriously think critics lack objectivity?
Well gee Mike, I guess all that objectivity you bring to the discussion is why you are single bubbled.
I think you've got it backwards - get the Wii U first. Lower cost (more room for PS4 to drop in price), more games with the console, no online monthly fee, and frankly ...
... at the moment the Wii U has a far better library of games that are excellent.
PS4 .... that should be next year, when their library gets a bit stronger.
The Xmas morning anticipation is worth it though :) So even though I gave you an agree, hold out.
Hope you've got Mario Kart, and Zelda WW (both great to play with kids). I'd recommend Bayonetta 2 and Deus Ex for yourself ;). Ohhh ... and a terabyte HD is a nice option to plug in for downloaded content.
Hope it is a wonderful Christmas morning for your family - I envy the excitement!
Controller is actually wonderful.
@Lol_Wut
No, not subjective. Just take a look at Metacritic. One review might be subjective but the number of great reviews for Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros, Zelda WW, DKTF, etc indicates these are just fantastic games.
... and in fact, they are.
Yi-Long - the small hard drive is not an issue - an inexpensive USB terabyte drive takes care of that.
Bayonetta 2 is a "poor" Wii U exclusive? You are surprised that Super Smash Bros U were listed?
1) Bayonetta 2 is far from poor;
2) I don't understand why Super Smash Bros wasn't on the list and Little Big Planet was.
Really.... based on both reviewers and players, you have those two wrong, or I misunderstood your comment.
Sales prove that everyone wants McDonalds *open eyes" Doh!
@superchiller
I just can't resist ..
Weak CPU
-- Weak GPU
-- Measly 2GB RAM, of which only 1GB is available for games
Yes, but do the games run? Yes. Do they run surprisingly well, with 60fps and 1080p? Raw power does not equal throughput and even Sony acknowledged that. Nintendo did a great job in designing a low power console.
The fact is that the Wii U is far more efficient, uses out of order process...
No. They participate, Unity says wait, you agreed to a waiver, they say no, the waiver was not brought to our attention and was in fact buried within a EULA, and the result is not equitable.
If Unity wanted to play it this way they could, but they need to explicitly state to users that they are waiving their rights and probably suggest that they seek legal counsel before agreeing.
I know it is the US, but I just can't see any court upholding a position t...
