Wtf? Did anyone actually READ the article? For a start, the ACTUAL headline is "UK console installed base tops 24m", not this piece of flamebait and the actual figures aren't 2:1 -
"Elsewhere, Xbox 360 enjoys a 3.9 million installed base – up 1.7 million in the last 12 months.
PS3 sits on 2.2 million – up 900,000 units from June last year."
Talk about Spin. This article should not have been approved.
Been having a few errors myself, but they all seem to be related to the Marketplace. Online play has been working just fine for me.
I was having trouble getting Worms 2: Armageddon. I couldn't directly download the full game, but I could download the trial, then upgrade to the full game from within the game itself. Not sure if that's useful to anyone else, but there you go.
"Which service was the one that crashed for 2 weeks last year? "
I dunno, the last time Live went down in any meaningful way was around Christmas 2007. We're not half-way through 2009, last year was (surprisingly) 2008, so what exactly is it you're getting at?
I'm with the majority here: It should be DLC priced.
They should release a full priced title that comes with L4D1 and L4D2, dropping the price of L4D1 to budget and making L4D2 an expansion at a reasonable cost. That way, no split community and an option for everyone.
RIP, Caps-lock. We'll miss you!
I think if Sony were ever going to do that, they'd have locked out PS1 games as well.
There's absolutely no reason why not. If the PS3 can emulate the required PS2 hardware to just run the games, there's no reason why it couldn't load them from a DVD as opposed to a hard drive. In fact, this option would actually require less "work" on Sony's part (Not that any kind of ISO loading is difficult).
Try reading the article for once?
It still has to display those as graphics, though. They're just not very advanced graphics. If what the article is saying is true, chances are it works purely because the graphics involved are very very basic and don't require full emulation of the PS2's GS.
Presumably you meant to make it TOO Uniek?
That depends, how long can retailers justify selling the PSP Go when they know it wont bring them a single penny in game sales?
That's not a dig at the Go, or Sony, or anything like that, but it's well known that retailers don't actually like selling consoles. Profit margins are slim and, comparitavly speaking, they take up a lot of room, room that could be better used to stock more games that'll bring them in more money. They agree to sell the consoles on the basis that they'll make a ...
It's a shame that Capcom likely attributes this to the low sales of SF3, but really it didn't have much of a chance. It only really appeared on the Dreamcast, in a time when people were busy being wowed by those fancy 3D games that were doing the rounds. Now that the novelty of 3D has worn off for most of us and we're willing to accept a quality 2D game more than a mediocre 3D game, I reckon SF3 could do really really well.
I'd never heard of that before, but it's pretty cool.
I want to know why so many of you are acting so hostile towards this little project. Lets face it, it's evidently not really a "game", it's quite clearly a learning tool and what's more, it's a learning tool aimed primarily at CHILDREN. And it's only $5. How many "games" have you ever paid $5 for and got a GOTY smash hit?
This project isn't just interesting, it's fairly important. Just imagine all the kids that might try this and a lot of them will invariably ...
That quip about Geometry wars is called "Sarcasm".
I think what's really important to consider is that they're all great games. Not just good games, but great games. We got 3 great sandbox games all at once. I am happy at this.
You've still not answered my query, you know.
I'd say, if you're like me and you shop around for the best possible deal on live when you need to renew (which gets you often around half the MSRP - I paid £24 for 12 months instead of £45 or whatever it is), it's worth the money at the moment. I'd say the MSRP is not.
However, Microsoft seems to be working hard to increase the value of the subscription, with things like 1vs100 and that free racing game they're doing later this year (a testbed for microtransactions, it seems)...
Faaaaake. Every image in that, I have seen before and the back has been incorrectly cropped. Oh and it says "PC-CD" on the front, but clearly says "DVD" on the back.
My problem is that the title was completely different to the title of the article and that the "2:1" figure was off by some margin. It didn't say "Nearly" 2:1, it just said 2:1. What's more, the original article didn't even mention any silly ratios like that. This perfectly legitimate article was twisted and turned around into a piece of flamebait.
I never said anything about the Wii, or total install base or any of those other points you raised.
