This is obvious to me, but it seems most people on N4G are oblivious to this tiny little fact:

The 360 is not "loosing".
The PS3 is not "loosing".

That's right, neither console is "loosing", they're both selling well and they're both sure to make a profit for their parent company. That's all that matters. Some people seem to be grasping at straws, coming up with conspiracy theories left and right as to why one console is failing a...

How does that "throw my point down the Gurgler"? If you buy Windows, it doesn't matter if you use it every day or once in a blue moon, you've paid for the license so Microsoft still has your money, thus they're not loosing anything. That's all I'm saying.

One thing to consider is that the Vast majority of Mac owners tend to Run Windows on the machine as well (via bootcamp or whatever), so while more people are buying Macs, most of those people are still buying Windows as well. Since Microsoft isn't loosing any money from Hardware sales, they'll be quite happy to let people run OSX all they like since they're likely to still install Windows Alongside it. Everybody wins. Well, everybody except the honest Consumer who has to buy 2 OS's, but whate...

"piece of garbage operating system that totally annihilates system memory" isn't an opinion, it's a fact and an incorrect one at that.

There's absolutely no point in me telling you that you're wrong and trying to explain why you're wrong (Google Vista Prefetching if anyone wants to know), you've made up your mind about the OS for reasons other than technical ones (i.e. blatant fanboyism or simple anti-MS hate), you just choose to throw around the technical (and incorre...

I have absolutely no doubt that Nintendo has the successor to the Wii lined up and ready to go. I could even, logically, predict what you should expect - the same, but more. Same kind of market image, same kind of games, but better hardware and probably more scope for expansion (more peripherals, more storage as they finally embrace online stuff a bit better, etc.) but I can also tell you that Nintendo will have no plans to release it any time soon, instead you'll get something else, somethin...

Godmars, your comment is completely irrelevant to anything I've said. I never once said one way or the other about Microsoft's business practices, it's irrelevant to this discussion. We were talking about Windows 7 and everything it entails. Naturally, we're going to mention Vista in this - and why shouldn't we, 7 is based on that OS. The only reason we haven't mentioned other OS's is because there's no real need to, it's not really relevant to the development of Windows.

But wha...

Vista can run with 1Gb of RAM...

And all those "features" you're talking about, they all run on the same Core OS, that Core OS is the NT kernel and not a lot has changed between Vista and 7.

Try to think of it this way, XP was based on 2000 and was, technically, a minor update to it. Now 2000 was a damn fine OS, but it had compatibility issues and didn't really work as a Desktop OS (Great for severs, though). Vista was a huge update, it's like the Windows 2...

You're not far off. I'll be interesting to see the public's reaction to 7, I can already see people proclaiming it's the best OS since 2000 and such (So far early reports have been extremely positive, Vista was dogged with bad reports at this stage), but what most people don't realise is that 7 wouldn't be possible without Vista. Vista is the foundation to the whole OS, really what Microsoft did was make an awesome back end with Vista, but because people couldn't see it, they thought Vista co...

It's not just home, our PS Store doesn't get half the good stuff that the US and Japan (especially japan) stores get.
And it's not just Sony, either, Microsoft and Nintendo are guilty for treating Europe like dirt. Hell, Nintendo deliberately stopped shipping Wii Fits to the US because they were selling out in Europe at a higher price. Shower of bastards, all of them.

No, some of you just don't get it - you cannot compare two different games on two different platforms, it just doesn't work. Even if they're the same genre, the whole design of the game may be completely different. Lets take an example: Bioshock Versus Resistance: FOM. Bioshock is INSIDE the whole time, FOM goes outside AND inside - the engines have to be designed to cope with this and thus various compromises are made here and there, regarding things like clipping and object occlusion.

That wouldn't work, you can't compare completely different games because the whole thing is subjective. Imagine comparing something like Gears of War to Uncharted - sure, they're kinda similar gameplay-wise, but Uncharted is set mainly in forested areas, whereas GoW is set in Urban areas. Both games will have been designed with this in mind and thus the engine optimised for such things.
Even FPS games will be designed in near-entirely different ways from each other - Fallout 3 was desig...

Blu-ray is not playstation, they are not synonymous with each other. Blu-ray could die tomorrow and the PS3 would still be here. Likewise, Sony could shut down their entire gaming division and still focus on Blu-Ray.

If Microsoft put in an order for a hundred million Blu-ray drives tomorrow, it'd be a win for the manufacturers (LG and such) and Sony would make a bit of cash from it - but the execs at Sony wouldn't be willing to pump that cash into the playstation division if said...

The sum-total of this artical is something like this "Microsoft was wrong about blu-ray, so they're going to throw their toys out of the pram next time in order to try and stick it to Sony".

This is absurd, Microsoft couldn't care less if Sony owns the BR format, it's not like Microsoft has their own disk format that they'd compete with. Sure, they backed HD-DVD, but so did a lot of people and back in the day, it was anyone's guess as to which format would "win&quo...

I knew a guy that met a lot of the ones from Free-Radical and he claimed they were extremely arrogant and quite up their own arses, which I suppose after the success of Goldeneye (More or less the same team) and Timesplitters is to be somewhat expected. But none the less, Haze was really their only big flop, it's a shame that it was enough to bring down the company. I feel bad for all the people who are now out of work because of it.

6269d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

That's because those studios pumping out "flops" on the Wii are pumping games out at an alarming rate, spending next to nothing on development costs (they're usually all variations of the same kind of game), in other words the cost little to make and uninformed parents/grandparents/people are buying just enough of them to make it profitable. Even selling like 10,000 copies is often enough to profit from them, they're THAT cheap.

So? That doesn't necessarily mean SO4 will be just is bad. It might be, but it might not, I mean look at Call of Duty - 1 and 2 were great, 3 was rubbish but 4 was one of the best FPSs released in 2007 (I know there's reasons for all that, with development times and such, but it's just an example). It still doesn't mean you'd NOT want it on your console of choice, even if it sells one solitary console, that's still one more console than would have sold without it.

Sorry Chris, but how can you call yourself a Gamer if you're so happy to throw away titles just because they're not the absolute best in their field? Can you honestly say that you've never played a game that's had somewhat average reviews, but really enjoyed it none the less? I could list tens of games like that for me and I'm sure if you thought about it, you could as well.

Plus, you're obviously a PS3 owner, so even if you personally do not like the game in question, you should...

Ok that's GREAT! But umm...apart from the live streaming and the extra arcade games...what of those things will actually give you something to do in Home? (Which is what I was getting at - well done you on missing that obvious point).

6270d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

I prefer the 360 over the PS3 (When push comes to shove) and even I'd say that there's no question of it - Sony has the better franchises, but for some reason they overlooked Nintendo here and I think Nintendo will certainly have the most marketable franchises.

6270d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Well done on pointing out the obvious, but perhaps you would be better off actually reading what you're replying to?
I never once said that Home couldn't be improved, in fact I specifically mentioned that hopefully in the future there'll be a lot more coming from it, my main problem is that after literally years of development, they haven't actually got a great deal to show for it. Beta or not, that point is still extremely valid.
But sure, you seem to know about these things, ple...
