Why do people keep thinking the 360 wont last as long as the PS3? Because it's under-powered? Yeah, I don't think we've had a single generation where the most powerful console both "won" and lasted the longest.
Take last generation - Gamecube AND Xbox were more powerful than the PS2, yet the PS2 is still selling extremely well today.
Previous generation - N64 was more powerful than the PS1, yet the PS1 both outlived it and sold more (Admittedly it had a cou...
I think 90% of games are overhyped these days. I mean, sometimes people just hype them up because it's exclusive to their console of choice, without really knowing anything about the game (Too Human is a good example, as is White Knight Chronicles). It's sad because they don't realise that they're doing more harm than good, when a game gets hype up too much and doesn't live up to expectations, it gets much harsher criticism than it normally would. Fable isn't a bad example of this, I missed o...
Sarcasm?
I believe he's being sarcastic, Mr genius.
The reason you "need a new TV" is because for the 3D effect to work, TWO images must be drawn on screen, hence the 120hz requirement (60 * 2). Anything less and you'll either notice a flicker or you wont - but get a bad headache (or worse) after a few mins of looking at it.
I'm not disagreeing with the technical....limitations in Mass Effect, but surely you can't blame Microsoft on that one? Game installs aren't going to be a silver bullet that makes everything much better, but at least for the few games they do help, they're worth it. Mostly older games, it seems.
The reason load times aren't THAT different is two-fold. Firstly, the DISK is optimised to be loaded as quickly as possible, naturally some of those optimisations are going to be counter-intuitive when the data is copied to the hard drive, moreso if the game also caches stuff to the hard drive (As in Halo 3 and Gears 2). Secondly, when a game loads, it's not JUST loading data from the disk into memory, there's quite a bit more to it than that. Texture data is decompressed, game data is decomp...
IT's not for home AND you have to pay for it?
Can I get a Cup of T for my WF, please?
Christ, you'd think some of you lived in a bubble all your lives.
Get this: Companies LOVE good statistics and they'll spin whatever statistics they have to make things sound good. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, they all do it and any time one of them mentions a statistic, you should have the sense to take it with a grain of salt.
Not really, but there were plenty of reports about how Vista would fare on the average computer, if you'd done your research and figured out that it wouldn't work as you expected, then you may have reconsidered buying it.
And if you bought it today, you still wouldn't be eligable. IT's only for systems that had it after July 2009, so that's 18months after you bought it.
If you bought Vista and didn't think it was worth the money, then you are a silly person. That's like paying £100,000 for a Ferrari and then complaining that it was too expensive. If you don't like Vista, don't buy it, it's as simple as that.
This article has a REALLY bad title, it's completely misleading. Here's what was ACTUALLY said:
"The great benefit of the design is that we're able to add new features, new channels and things like that pretty quickly. So yeah, you'll see us do more regular updates throughout the year," Greenberg said.
That's right, he ACTUALLY said there'll be MORE updates through the year, not less. Furthermore -
'For now, the team is focusing on Primetime, ...
Errr...you don't pay for updates, you pay for the matchmaking service.
Who cares how long it takes to complete a game? I'd rather have 10 hours of quality fun than 50 hours of mediocrity. Look at Portal to see what I mean.
I thought Fable II was pretty fun in the end.
You can quote facts and figures all you like and whatever way you like to make it seem like the PS3's BR drive is faster than the 360's DVD-ROM drive, but at the end of the day if there's a difference in loading times between the two consoles, it's usually in favour of the 360.
I'm not bashing the PS3 here at ALL, I'm just pointing out that sometimes practice is a little different than theory. I really don't see why people get so beat up over a couple of seconds here or there, as your d...
Hey genius, guess what! See this article that you're commenting on? That constitutes as "The press". And "The Press" state:
"For those of you out there that do nothing but hate on Windows Vista, give Windows 7 a fresh start because its truly something to consider."
Yeah! Unmoved, indeed.
Go troll elsewhere.
I'm using it right now and I'm quite impressed, it's nice and speedy.
My only gripe is the new taskbar and it's not even the Taskbar's fault, it's how the new Live Messenger integrates with it, it makes it more awkward to switch from conversation to conversation.
I'm sure that'll be fixed, though and if not, a patch will be made for it.
Overall, it's definitely a great improvement and a worthwhile upgrade, even to those who still run XP (Providing you have a decent ma...
The download is always the same, otherwise the key would be embedded into it. So yeah, you can use those 2 keys on different machines just fine. In fact, you could probably use the same key on both machines, I don't think Microsoft is going to be too arsed about multiple activations on a BETA OS that they're literally giving keys away free for.
Oh and each key is good for BOTH 32bit and 64bit versions.
Cable networks DO run fibre-optics, but only to the substations (usually the box at the end of your street). It's unbelievably expensive to run fibre straight to the home, coaxial is cheaper and since most places are already wired up with it, it makes sense to get the most you can out of it, because there's little chance of your ISP footing the bill to deploying fibre to your house, only a lucky few get that.
errr...that would be practically impossible for all sorts of reasons.
For a start, you would need to port each game individually to the console (Which is no easy task), what's more Valve wouldn't be able to do it, the owners of each title would and that's assuming THEY agree to it as well.
The best Valve could do is offer the Valve back catalogue on the PSN, but we all know Valve hates the PS3, so I doubt that'll happen any time soon.
It's interesting that Valve can s...
