Summer 2008 was basically just 360 bashing, since the PS3 got MGS4 and had some other big games coming out later that year, plus it was selling better against the 360. Pretty much every day was something bashing the 360 (and the RROD stuff never seems to get old). Then the 360 got a price cut, sales went through the roof, LBP didn't sell as well as it should have (It's still not really, 1.3Million sales? That game deserves 10x that and I'm a 360 fan!) and suddenly it's time to bash the hell o...
Couldn't agree more, this is the first thing that came into my head when I thought this. It'd be interesting to see how many Premium/HDD-equipped 360s have live memberships on them.
Still, free is always going to be more popular, no matter if it's better or not, so just because more PS3 users are on the PSN it does not mean "PSN is better", nor does Live's subscription mean "Live is better". Live definitely has more features, however it does cost money, depend...
The backwards compatibility was never entirely Software based.
The ORIGINAL Japan/US launch units had more or less the guts of a PS2 inside them, they had both an emotion engine (The CPU of the PS2) and whatever the PS2's GPU was (I forget the name). That's why it had a 99.9% compatibility rate (And also why it didn't offer any kind of fancy upscaling or anything).
By the time the PS3 launched in the EU, Sony removed the emotion engine and instead only had the PS2's ...
You got what you paid for when you bought the 360. Sure, the PS3 is "future proof", but it's also a lot more expensive, surely it's fair to say that neither company made a mistake, they just had different targets. The PS3 isn't going to get as cheap as the 360 any time soon and RIGHT NOW the only real benefit is Blu-ray. When this 3D technology actually comes to market (if it ever does, that is), the PS3 will probably cost less than what a 360 costs now. It's a non-issue, you pay fo...
EA is making a new Fifa game for the Mega Drive. It's still very popular in countries like Brazil.
I like XBLA, but I do hate that pretty much all the games are "Arcade" games. I mean, I know that's the Vibe MS was going for, but I'd still like some games with a little more depth to them on there and an RPG like this would be great.
What are you even talking about? Yes, the RAM is faster, but that doesn't mean it can somehow hold more information, 512Mb is 512Mb. This is what he was referring to when he said "blow the RAM". He wasn't stating that somehow the RAM wasn't fast enough to handle another vehicle, but simply that another Vehicle would take up too much space and max out the RAM, which on a console is a VERY BAD THING. You're probably used to a PC, where you can pretty much treat it like you've got unli...
The PS3's GPU is inferior to the 360, Graphically speaking the 360 is more powerful. It's the CELL that'll give the PS3 an edge, it is far more capable at things like realistic physics than the 360 is and that's what the PS3 can really excel at in the future.
Yeaaahhh...am I the only person that actually read the quote that's referring to the 360 being "maxed out"? Did anyone notice that he specifically said that they couldn't put another vehicle into the world because it would "blow the memory"?
Lets contemplate that. Blow. The. MEMORY. Not the GPU, not the processor, but the Memory. How much Memory does the 360 have? 512Mb. How much memory does the PS3 have? 512Mb (2x256Mb).
In other words, the only thing t...
Chris wasn't IN Resident Evil 2....
I never said they can't, I just said that at this time of year, not much stuff gets announced and CES isn't really the place for it. I mean, there's a couple of big events DEDICATED for games, but not really one dedicated for Windows or Mobile Phones or whatever, so it makes sense that Microsoft will glaze over the 360 a bit here.
That's good, because far too many people on this site take things waaaay too seriously.
Games are supposed to be fun, not serious.
Don't forget Games for Windows Live, Microsoft is still pushing that and when it comes to PC gaming, Microsoft's OS is pretty much the defacto.
The 360 is what, 3 years old? Plus, they've JUST released a massive update for it, why would they be talking about it again at CES? Simply put, there's nothing TO announce just yet, give it a few months and I'm sure there'll be lots more things on show.
What all has Sony announced recently, anyway? KZ2 has been talked about for years, it's nothing new but it's the PS3 game everyone is talking about. Not bashing Sony here, just saying that nobody's really big on announcing anything at th...
Live works on a P2P system. Usually, when you play a game on live, the person hosting it is actually one of the other players (PSN can work in the same way, of course). This is the 16 player limit it's referring to, since most people don't have a connection at home with a fast enough upload to handle any more (And to be honest, 16 is pushing it for most people).
This is why most console games have about a 16 or 32 player limit in Multiplayer.
"Live dedicated servers&qu...
"Leave your PC out of it. I said "consoles" for a reason. PSN and Xbox live are private networks and have larger bandwidth overhead in order to provide additional security and/or proprietary comm. protocols. Because of that, it's easier to have a PC game support more players."
Cool! Another Random fact pulled out of thin air! XBL and PSN all run on the same network that PC games run on - the internet. You're pretty much telling me that both Sony and Microsoft ...
I never once said why people run Windows on Bootcamp, I just said that most people do it. And that's the sum total of my point - most Mac Users also install Windows. Doesn't matter if or why they use it, if they install it at all, then Microsoft has made a sale (legitimate users, of course, as I said before the pirates don't really count since most people who'd pirate Windows on OSX would pirate it on a normal PC as well). Windows isn't sold on a pay-per-use basis, it's sold as a license.
Frontlines: Fuels of War is 50 and that's just off the top of my head.
Trust me, it depends on the game (what kind of game it is, how it's designed, how good the netcode is, etc.), not the console. FFS, you can play 64 player Doom, so does that mean my 10 year old PC is as good as the PS3? No.
EDIT: Yeah Rockstar did apparently say that, then two days later revoked it and stated that it was taken out of context. They said in several articles that they wanted GTA4 to have m...
Where the hell did you pull THAT random little factoid from? The biggest limiting factor for the amount of people in a MP game is the connection itself, you can get around it by using really good netcode, but the fact remains that the limiting factor is bandwidth, not processing power. Even PC games tend to limit the maximum number of players in MP for the same reason - because larger matches are going to be laggy as hell unless everyone's on a really good connection.
I think you...
Cheap People? Try POOR people! Try people with only a moderate income that simply could not justify spending $600 on a Console.
I'm sorry, but blaming "cheap" people for the removal of BC stuff in the PS3 is just daft, that's like saying that people who bought a Ford Focus are CHEAP because they should have got a Ferrari and if Ferrari's sales are down, it's entirely the cheap person's fault.
If you want to blame anyone, blame Sony for making a silly busine...
