I don't think people seem to understand the underlying philosophy that lead to Crysis being the resource hog it was.
Crysis was designed to be future-proof. It was made with graphics settings that was unreachable by the hardware of its day. It was designed this way to foster a multiplayer community to last a decade and compete with Counterstrike as the go-to PC shooter community.
What Crytek did not realize is that PC players are rather ignorant. They dem...
More devs should have the guts to say "It's not done yet. It's not shipping yet."
But I guess it's not their call. It's the publisher's. Gearbox just happens to be associated with one of the more sympathetic publishers out there.
Paper doesn't come from trees in the forest. It comes from trees on tree farms that exist for the sole purpose of making paper. Saving trees is a bullshit fallacy.
However, it does save manufacturing and printing costs. Electricity, ink, water treatment, recycling costs and waste. But I think that's probably more detrimental to the economy surrounding such products than it saves EA specifically. And it doesn't really do consumers any good at all.

It's one thing to find a loophole. It's another to expose it to the world.
Don't criticize games you haven't played. You just make yourself look petty.
Epic told Destructoid that it's Unreal 2.
Feel free to get a jump on them.
The two can co-exist. You're welcome to like what you like. Don't shit on what I like.
Besides, the technology extends beyond gaming. It would also be beneficial to cinema and television and beyond.
Step back for a minute and take stock of why you only have 1 bubble left.
I hope in the near future, facial scanning tech is married with real-time motion capture for 100% real performance capture.
Right now, the two seem a little disjointed.
The screens are coming down in price fast, but unfortunately the glasses aren't. They need an open standard to help cultivate competition among glasses manufacturers to lower price and consumer confusion.
Duh?
You know, I don't appreciate being spoken down to like I'm an idiot.
Hmm.. An "It's too hard" review.
Could be true, but it doesn't really give the reader any real barometer with which to judge the game until they try it themselves.
The 2 parties locked in an incessant arms race refuse to step back, take stock and acknowledge the problems they've created among the community of developers.
Hardware has progressed far enough for the time being. The average person still only has a 1920x1080 display, if that. All that power is wasted on 99.999% of potential consumers (a conservative estimate).
Put the hardware aside for a year or two and develop better middleware solutions for that hard...
Built in projection is stupid. Everything else is a PS3.
Why do you want or expect Nintendo to release a product that's been on the market for 4 and a half years? What would they call it? "We Too"
It's clear that Nintendo's going to have to get something unique going for them or they have no reason to consider bringing out new hardware. Their own 4 and a half year old machine is still selling at a significant profit. They can sit back a...
And I totally care, because I own armchair stock in Microsoft.
It doesn't matter. They've already shot themselves in the foot with their hubris. Sales will take an irreparable hit, not that it ever stood a chance of being a blockbuster on PS3.
Bullshit. I'm calling it right now: Next COD outsells last COD.
Stop whining and make better games yourself.
Then don't buy them?
It's likely just to mean that if you buy new, you get a code for a free challenge map or two.
That's more than fair, if you ask me.
