I don't know about what you guys think, but Nintendo's been coming off as real kocky lately. They've been slow to release games (supposedly they've purposely delayed Metroid Prime 3), they've shown little interest and no innovation in online games, even to the point of using the crappy friend codes ds model, and they are now talking trash! I love playing with my wii, but if they don't release any cool new games to stimulate my wii, my wii might start going unused....and flaccid.

I wish they would start releasing new games for it. Mine is starting to collect dust, and I regularly play ps3 more than the wii, which is kind of a troubling sign for it I guess.

I think it'll come in fall 08 at the latest. Sequels always are much quicker to make than the originals (especially if the original is on new hardware) because you already have so much more done than when you started from scratch.

Seriously guys, get hyped up for Heavenly Sword all you want (I sure am), but this is seriously not in game. Look at the screen and you can clearly see the pores and freckles on Nariko's face. If you think that the characters are going to be that ridiculously hyperdetailed in game then you're mad. I'd be willing to bet that this is from a HD movie cutscene. I'm not saying that they game won't look good, just that I think it's nearly impossible it would look this good.

Catalog titles actually don't sell terribly well regardless of format, and this sale only applies to the catalog titles, not new releases like Casino Royale.

They're trying to work out a deal with Microsoft to get a wireless controller since the wireless is a proprietary Microsoft thing. Probably a month or two after release you'll see it. The cords shouldn't be that bad unless it's really awkward in your setup.

You can get a further $10 rebate on X3 with this site: www.blu-raymovierebate.com

Just a heads up for a real good deal.

Ummm, I thought it was good, critics thought it was good, and audiences thought it was good, and it's already the top selling hd disc in America according to Amazon, and I see no reason why it wouldn't be in Europe since it was even more popular there than it was here in America.

I'm sorry you thought it sucked, but I thought it was the best Bond since Goldfinger.

Umm, why is it necessarily a blockbuster hit? I get that the feedback has been positive, the game looks great, and there is a fair amount of hype, but no presales or whatever have started so I don't know how anyone can assume blockbuster hit, especially since this is an original title. That said I think it looks great, and I'm always ready for more good games in this God of War/Devil May Cry genre. I hope it's as good as people think it will be.

I'm not up to date on the exact situation in Europe, but to date in the UK HDDVD has outsold BluRay by a factor greater than 4:1. However, looking at the numbers behind that shows that the actual sales ratio of discs is about 8,000:1,700. Putting that into perspective, in the US the sales are about 700,000:650,000 right now in favor of BluRay. On March 23rd I predict that over 10,000 copies of Casino Royale are going to be sold in the UK alone (it was the highest grossing film there last y...

The PQ (picture quality) is basically the same for both formats, as they can use the exact same codecs. Theoretically, BluRay should have the best PQ because it can achieve higher peak bitrates, although this hasn't become evident at all. I believe, however, that the best PQ in a hd movie to date is in The Prestige, although I have yet to see it so I can't say if that is true or not. I can say that the transfer done on the ps3 Talledega Nights disc was pretty subpar.

Universal does have the Spielberg classics like Jurassic Park and ET, but Spielberg is not letting them produce HDDVD versions of them yet, just like Lucas will not allow Fox to put the Star Wars films on BluRay exclusively yet. Both filmmakes want to wait until their films can reach the broadest audience possible, and they want the extra features to be spectacular, so don't expect to see Star Wars or Jurassic Park on next gen optical discs anytime soon.

Also, saying Universal...

The sales year to date are over 2:1 in favor of BluRay.

If the numbers really are much worse than 4% like it seems then we'll all know about it when the class action lawsuit gets settled, just like the ps2 situation a few years ago. Until then uninformed speculation will just cause fanboy fights.

People don't seem to understand the current studio support, so I will make it very clear.

20th Century Fox
Sony(includes Columbia & MGM)
Disney/Buena Vista
Lions Gate

HDDVD

In all fairness it's not really the 360 losing an exclusive. It was originally multi platform, and then ps3 was seemingly dropped but with no official confirmation, and now it is multi again.

Sony has made it their policy to only sell the BluRay standalones at a profit so as to allow other manufacturers to make and sell BluRay standalones. You'll notice that only Toshiba makes HDDVD drives and there is a reason for that. Toshiba will continue to subsidize their players and take losses in the hopes that they can still win because lower price is the only thing that HDDVD has as an advantage. BluRay has vastly superior studio support and manufacturing support, and has come to matc...

The prices are already closer than HDDVD would have you believe. Sony is going to be selling a $600 standalone at a profit, while the cheapest HDDVD players are being subsidized by Toshiba (sold at a loss) for $400 at the cheapest right now. The only subsidized BluRay player is the ps3. There have been numerous references to "cheap" Chinese HDDVD players in the future, but no hard evidence of their existence or street date has come to light. Chinese manufacturer Funai has howeve...

Unfortunately existing HDDVD players may not be able to read these discs when, and if, they come out.

Personally, I don't think the format war will last long enough to see these hit the market. Only one studio supports HDDVD exclusively (5 support BluRay and they've all been more successful than Universal has of late), and according to rumors a recent shakeup in Universal's home video department resulting from management change has removed many of the HDDVD stalwarts. In any ...

These rumors better be true. I'm getting real psyched for the European release now.
