What would they add to it? A bigger hardrive would be almost pointless because 60gb is pretty big already and upgrading by replacing the hard drive or getting an external one is always an option anyways. They could drop the 60 to 499 and the 80 would be 599 like people have said, but that's almost as stupid as the elite 360 system.
Seriously though, the ps3 is already jampacked with extra stuff as is. They could add an extra HDMI port for the all of 10 people that could use ...
Damn, I thought they were gonna announce Halo3 beta details. Someone in my dorm preordered Crackdown for it so I was counting on checking that out.
The ps3 does have a hardware disadvantage in slower maximum read speed (although it does have faster minimum read speed), but it also has an advantage in harddrive caching.
Besides hardware, there is also a software aspect to which one loads faster, so that needs to also be taken into account. Since THPS8 for the ps3 is basically a port of the 360, it has an immediate disadvantage. Unfortunately, many upcoming games for the ps3 are also mere ports, but ones like Oblivion that...
The Gears of War American ad, the one with the Donnie Darko song, was so unbelievably cool. This is just dumb, especially the second video. The ending on the first one was decent, but the rest was crap.
The sales are much higher than the rentals. Mostly early adopters and tech fanatics have bought into both formats so far, and they tend to buy more movies than the average public and they also tend to buy much more than rent. Sales are around 3-5% right now I think, although the ownership isn't 3-5% yet, but the early adopters buy more movies than the average consumer.
Lucas is greedy, perfectionist, control freak. As such, he won't release the star wars movies until
A) the user base is big enough, as otherwise he won't make as much money
B) he's created a ton of high definition extra content features
C) he's touched up the movies in hundreds of ways through cgi and created as perfect a hd transfer as possibile
I really don't think you'll see Star Wars on BR until 2008 at the earliest. Just remember how long it took ...
Finally, a demo for a game BEFORE it is released on the PSN.
The BD-J features are really interesting to read about. Using a programming language like Java really expands the possibilities for interactive features far beyond what could be done in any markup text language. One thing is that it would let you play games (not ps3 games, just java based games on the disc) off of the BluRay movie discs. Plus the menus and special features can just get more complex and interactive with Java replacing markup language. Unfortunately most of this won't happe...
The ps3 can do it with a firmware update because it does have the available memory and processing power required, but unfortunately early standalone models don't.
That's been going on for a while now. There's also a seperate deal where you can get an additional 4 movies, so it's possible to get 9 free movies with a HDDVD player purchase.

I just came across this at AVS forums. The guy who posted it is apparently a professional disc reviewer at some website.
It's only a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt.
Don't forget Pirates 3 in that same timeframe as a BR exclusive as well. Pirates 2 made over a billion. Plus Pirates 1 & 2, and Spiderman 1 & 2 are supposed to make BR debuts in May, so those could all be major sales items in May (not as big as Bond was, but still quite large).
Actually it peaked at seven. And yes it's good. I'd say it's my second favorite Bond ever. Goldfinger is #1 of course.
Money != quality. Hopefully it will be great, but development costs aren't everything.
It's already been stated at 20 million, so count on that increasing probably and then there's always marketing. 30 million might be a low estimate.
Ninja Gaiden 2 will come to the ps3 if Sigma is a successful and profitable venture for Tecmo. If it doesn't sell well, don't expect number two to head to the ps3, but if it does, it would be strange for them to miss out on an easy buck. I call this the Capcom theory, and for independent third party publishers it's the best thing to go on I think.
This is the dumbest idea ever. Do they want DMC4 to be a 360 exclusive? Because that is what will happen if ps3 owners don't buy the game. Capcom is clearly following the money on this one. I don't see why DMC4 will be any less fun just because other people are playing it. Grow up and just buy the game if you like it.
300 will be on both (or on TotalHD, let us hope not). Sin City will be BluRay exclusive. Sin City 2 will be HDDVD exclusive if the war lasts that long.
And LOTR or Star Wars or any other extremely popular catalog series or movies with directors retaining substantial creative control (Spielberg films included) will not see release on HD formats anytime soon. They all want to wait until the interactive content specs are finalized, and wait until they've created sufficient extr...
No, not Bert! I've said it for years, Bert is evil, but no one believed me!
Lol, I said the same thing about the "critical success" Heavenly Sword, although that game has been actually been played at some game conventions. I also took a lot of flak by saying that Lost Planet and Too Human couldn't be labeled AAA games months before their release. Can't we all just agree to only label games, or developers, with a previous track record (Halo3, MGS4, Mass Effect, Bioshock, FF13 to name a few) as AAA games?
