I posted the IGN reviews for Gears and Resistance so people wouldn't make ridiculous claims about the scores.
The average score for Gears on gamerankings is a 94.2%. Obviously not all reviews were between 94 and 100 then. Also, Resistance only has two reviews as of right now, so I can't give you an average.
IGN obviously believed that Resistance gave more incentive to replay the single player campaign, and they felt the online was better. Now people can either trust ...
Thrill Kill-it was a game where your arm could be ripped off, and then you could pick it up and beat people with it. Despite being 98% finished, it was cancelled and never released commercially for the psone
Death Race 2000-the original controversial videogame. Released in 1976, it had you run down stick figure "gremlins" for points, but you had to avoid the tombstones they left behind. Many people were outraged for what they believed was a game glorifying killing ...
There's life and then there's video games. One is more important than the other.
#2, thanks for that, I was pretty ashamed when I read this. I swear not everyone who's gonna get a ps3 will be like this.
Actually Gears got a 9.4
The reviews went as follows:
Presentation: GOW 9.5 Resistance 9.0
Graphics: GOW 10.0 Resistance 8.5
Sound: GOW 10.0 Resistance 8.5
Gameplay: GOW 9.0 Resistance 9.0
Lasting Appeal:GOW 7.5 Resitance 9.5
The last one looks like CG, but it's hard to tell because of the camera angles, but the rest of them look like the ingame footage I've seen of the latest builds on display. I hope they use the extra months they have for the NA release to make a really badass online mode.
#3, Fatal Inertia is Koei, not Sony.
The game works, but the Guitar controller is not recognized. Hopefully the official ps2 controller adapters will work, or they will release some sort of update to support it.
It's the article title that IGN had, so that's why it was used by DC Rider.
Anyways, I hope they fix this soon, as I play Guitar Hero 2 a lot these days, and I don't want to have a ps3 and ps2 hooked up to the same tv.
#2, Japan has a population of about 125 million people, but 100,000 consoles is still no where near enough to meet demand, so your comment in #4.1 is basically correct.
I'd just like to say that in one day it is one tenth of the way towards meaking that Atari guy look like a complete idiot.
Do NOT go out and buy 400GB hard drives! Before you buy one, make sure it is 2.5" SATA, or else it won't work!
I don't think they're 2.5'' SATA hard drives though.
1080p is a nice bonus for people with televisions that can output it. Most games will probably be 720p, but 1080p is a very nice thing to have, and it adds some value to the games that can use it. We've already seen so far that more games than was originally thought are going to be in 1080p.
theMART: The 360 is the first 1080p console now, but it isn't the first to output in native 1080p, as no native 1080p games have been released yet. But, since both 360 and ps3 can do ...
Bottom line is that most things seem to work, but not everything. The thing they tested that didn't work was something that they thought probably wouldn't, because it's a pain to get to work on pcs even. But iPods will work, but the directories aren't as refined as they could be.
The ps3 can upscale any ps3 game to whatever resolution, so I don't see why it doesn't do it for the psone and ps2 games.
If I shoot you, then who will be left to shoot me.
If the xbox had no game franchises that Americans liked, we wouldn't have bought it either.
Joystiq is also still reporting that only 80,000 ps3s are available at the japan launch. They're kinda behind on some of this stuff.
Wow, people who were clueless about this like I was should listen to that podcast. It sounds like they're really doing a lot with this, and I can't believe that they're doing a ps3 and wii version, seems like a ton of work. I'm definitely looking forward to this on pc now, but I'm gonna wait until I see some gameplay and hear from some people who've played it before I make any proclamations of it being AAA. I hope that they can do what they say they want to.
A Windows or OS X operating system would need to be specially designed for the ps3 hardware, just as the ps3 linux is being specially designed for it. The difference between Windows and Linux is that Windows is owned by someone, and that someone is probably not gonna license it to be used in a Sony platform. Any version of Windows released for the ps3 would have to be made by some third party, would be unlicensed and therefore illegal, and would probably run pretty crappy due to it not bein...
Blame joystiq, not Bladestar. He just posted the news, joystiq are the ones that spun it.
You've posted that quote about 10 times, and each time I have to correct you.
That quote came from an interview where Epic talked about why they talked MS into adding 512MB of RAM on the 360 instead of the 256 they were going to use. That quote was not a reference to the ps3! Some idiot blogger just took it out of it's context and mischaracterized it. If you don't believe me you can search for the original interview and see for yourself.
And the ps3 DOES indeed have 5...
