I completely agree with what you said. If MS came out 6 months after release and said, yeah we acknowledge we have issues with our hardware and actually fixed them they would not be in the mess they are in now. Instead they give everyone a 3 year pass on repairs and throw a game or free month of Live at them to keep them quiet, then try not to bring up the fact they have issues or downplay the numbers.
Japanese are fiercly loyal to their homebrands. The culture over there is...
I think the game is shaping up to be really neat. I won't knock it just because it is EA, but the article doesn't paint a rosy picture of EA from someone on the inside. They basically said we did everything different from how EA normally works which is why the game is turning out good.
I'm hoping the game does really well and opens EA's eyes. If it flops, then they go back to making licensed retreads over and over.
Isn't Mark Rein (Epic) on the committee to save PC gaming and didn't he say PC gaming wasn't in trouble (not sure why they need a committee if it wasn't in trouble)? Anyway, Tim's words seem to counter what Mark has been saying, but appear more honest and thoughtful.
Looks like a solid game. As MD said, the guys talking were a bit grating.
The first step is not to even publish his letters. It seems every email sent or received by him gets forwarded on to various gaming websites. Just ignore his letters and deny him the attention he craves (good or bad).
If there are known differences in HW versions, the responsibility falls on the QA team to test across those differences. A good QA team should have a reasonable representation of the spectrum of HW/SW that the software will run on. Considering we are talking about HW revs, then they have no excuse not to test them.
How has R* already determined the problem is only with older 360's or is that just PR talk to hide the fact the product was poorly tested?
If they a...
Ain't competition grand? Before consoles became a serious threat to PC's, PC's owned the gaming world. Now those with a vested interest in seeing PC gaming succeed are dropping prices, coming up with standards, looking into piracy. All those things they probably wouldn't have done without the face of competition.
>In the meantime, if you have still to buy yourself a 360 to enjoy the wonder that is Rez HD on Xbox Live Arcade, then you really do have no excuse this coming Easter…
If the price drop is coupled with them fixing the HW, then that would be a good time to buy. If it is the same broken HW for the last 3 years, then I'll pass.
Any kind of tea without sugar is just wrong. I hear Lipton is going to announce some new flavors that are only sugar based and will not work on non sugared tea, so I recommend you dump that non sugared tea and get a REAL drink.
Can someone explain the name Infogrames? I could never wrap my head around this name... what is a grame?
Yeah, circle, square, square, circle, left stick, triangle, triangle, X. The feeling of "being" Kratos was never so..... confusing :)
I have grown to hate QTE's. I would put them in the top 10 worst game innovations.
I think GOW was great for other reasons but QTE's was not one of them.
What kind of crazy idea is this? This makes zero sense. EA is not a HW company and we know how well non HW companies make quality systems (ahem MS).
Software is what makes money, not hardware and EA would only be limiting how much software it sells by making it exclusive. You won't have everyone rush out and get an EA system just for the exclusive titles it can play, plus EA doesn't exactly have a sterling reputation with gamers. Why spend billions to ultimately sell less ...
I just finished this game for the first time 2 weeks ago so it is pretty fresh in my mind (now playing ICO). My kids loved to sit and watch me fight the Colossi and still talk about it.
One very minor point that really struck me in the game was how Wander called out for Agro. If he was nearby it was a quiet, passive call for him. If he was far off, he would yell out to him. If you were in the midst of a battle, he would yell for him in almost a panic. I thought that really...
I'm a 36 year old father and i have one... Why? Because I grew up with games and have always been a gamer. I also have a Wii... Why? Because I'm a 36 year old father and my kids are growing up with games :)
I thought the game was solid. I won't go as far as saying a great game, but I think they can be pretty close to it if they address some issues. I posted this recently on a forum on areas I thought would make this a homerun title in subsequent sequels:
I'd like the houses to have doors you can open. Find various objects (more knives for instance) within the houses, maybe some bonus items. You can duck into a house while being chased and watch the guards run by from a window. H...
Maybe 3rd parties and MS should just cancel all 360 games to make room for Gears of War? I guess that makes sense :P
I think alot of PS fans are upset with Capcom making Monster Hunter 3 a Wii game. I've never played an MH in the past, so I can't comment, but that seems to be the biggest beef with Capcom.
Wii is a huge hit with my kids and anyone that comes over. I'm pretty much the only one that plays the PS3. PS3/360 are a different beast altogether from the Wii and I don't see Sony/MS changing the public opinion to a large degree.
Wii Sports would then be their biggest sporting competitor? Is he serious? Sure Wii Sports sells like hot cakes but not because it is going toe to toe with Madden.
I imagine EA is desperate to get Take-Two before GTAIV releases so they can reap the monetary rewards they are so deserving to get for all the hard work they put in supporting Rockstar development and Take-Two advertising/marketing/publishi ng/distribution of the title. Plus, the stock price might take a nice bump...
You forgot to mention fixing the RROD issues. That to me would be priority #1.
