I think there is some amount of newness factor that gets weighed into the GOTY. It seems contenders pop up around the time people are making their short list. Of course the end of the year is also the time alot of games release, so it's hard to say.

Alot like the movie industry. The Academy award nominees always seem to release right before the awards kick off. You just know a cerebral, high brow movie was made for the sole purpose of getting best picture.

I agree with that. The Wii is officially in fad mode. People are buying it just on hype and word of mouth. Even my mother expressed interest in one and she would be the last person to get a gaming machine.

I was at Best Buy the other day and 2 guys were standing in front of the Wii section and one says, "I just got a Wii, are there any good games?" The other guy said, "Dunno, I just got one too."

I'll bet if it was easy to obtain a Wii, ...

Most publishers would just release the earlier iterations anyway. Thankfully, 2K was patient.

Doesn't Kojima have some say in who he wants to write the screenplay? I would think he would have more pull than some random emailers.

I think the preview will have some meat to it. Every GoW game has come out in March even the handheld. I imagine they will uphold or are trying to uphold this tradition. If that is the case, they should have some substantial gameplay in the can already.

I believe I read an article a while back that talked about her getting dirty and the rain would slowly wash away the grime. I think the realism is something they are going for. Should be interesting to see.

It's mentioned on a number of sites. Last month they pushed it back from Fall to about May 09.
It seems in this interview they are still talking '08. Wonder how old this FAQ/interview may be.

I thought this game got pushed back like 9 months into '09? Might be a bad sign, but still looks interesting.

I'm going to give you a bubble for the billion bee stings thingie. That was pretty funny.

How are you going to win this case?

Did it say in the advertising guaranteed to be bug free? I have no idea how they would win this in court.

Why aren't they suing EA anyway? Valve didn't port it.

Bill Gates is one of the biggest names in the corporate world, certainly in the tech world. MS will always be associated with Bill and Bill associated with MS, even if he is off doing charities.

If you ever get the chance, read up on the early years of Gates and MS. Alot of luck, brains and chutzpah landed him where he is today.

Whoa, did you compile that list or is this off a site somewhere?

Good thing he isn't setting the bar too high. You know what happens when you make statements like that? You have to live up to them.

Is this really the only picture we can come up with for anything MS corporate related? Shane Kim is a fine looking man and all, even if he is eyebrow challenged, but a little more variety please :)

1) Oh, I don't doubt that Bioshock 2 is multiplatform. I think that is a given.

2) The only thing I question is whether ME 2 would come to PS3 without ME 1 ever making an appearance. This is a franchise that tells a continuous story and that might affect sales on the PS3 if ME 1 was never offered (as opposed to something like GTA that doesn't depend on prior releases to tell the whole story). Since MS published ME 1, not sure how that plays out whether EA would ever be able ...

I'm not a fan of the big companies buying the small successful developers whether it be Sony, MS or Nintendo (or EA for that matter). It may be inevitable as the cost of development rises that we see a consolidation in the industry.

In any case, alot of the talent may leave, the magic the company once had may be lost. They lose their decision making capabilities that were a cornerstone of their success.

As a member of the software industry (although not in ga...

We are probably the only household that plays Mario Party 8 alot. My son loves the game and always wants to play it. The lego games have alot of replayablity for us. We played alot of SSBB, but seems we haven't picked it up for a long time.

Interesting, R2 and Geow2 release within a day of each other. I see a storm brewing.

Why is Sim3 coming out on Dec 31st? Does anyone buy games that week? Probably gift cards kick in or returns?

I do predict my wallet will be very light in the next 6 months.

I'm a glass half full kind of guy. I think EA is legitimately trying to change their reputation and Dead Space will be a solid title on all platforms. Looks very creepy.
