First of all you do have hardware with OnLive. You have a small box that converts the incoming stream and sends it to your TV. You do have potential for hardware issues with that.

OnLive has alot of challenges ahead of it. Just avoiding hardware problems are a tiny part of that. I don't think 360 hardware issues are what is going to drive people to abandon their 360.

Plus the author says he and all his friends keep buying new 360's. Why don't they get them repai...

The whole death thing is a very tricky gaming design conundrum. If you make it too hard on the player, they just reload. If you make it too easy it kills the tension of living/dying. Checkpoints are a good solution but again space them out too far and they become frustrating. Too close and death has little meaning.

Some present day games are experimenting with the death issue and good to see Fable II has some original ideas.

The Force Unleashed engine was a great game engine. The game also got alot of unfair criticism. Very fun!

Did this author attend the same GDC as everyone else? Crysis is not coming to the consoles the CryEngine is. None of the mentioned MGS info is fact at all. Most of what was mentioned are internet rumors and some of it just sounds made up. Game sites are losing their integrity as more sensationalist sites pop up with authors essentially forum posting in their articles.

What hardware they have on their end is the least of the concerns. How they are compressing and how are they avoiding lag is the magic wand waving they are doing now. It doesn't really matter what system they have as long as it can play the game at an acceptable frame rate.

I'm currently playing Dark Cloud (yes, the 1st one), on my PS3. While it shows it ages nearly 10 years later. There is quite a memorable scene in it that I won't soon forgot. If you have played it and recall the manner in which the psychic lady tells you your fortune. That turned the whole sweet story on its ear.

The power is in the consumers hands. Of course organizing the consumers it alot harder a task then publishers have of organizing on their end. You don't buy it, they won't do it. If it cuts deeper and less people bypass their game because of it, they will do a 180. It's more like a testing ground these days. Some publishers put it out there to see what they can get away with. If it sells and makes them money, why should they change? Consumers can be vocal about it. Look what happened ...

From reading the last part of this article, I get the image of a bunch of scientists in lab coats standing around a gamer hooked up to a series of machines measuring everything from body temperature to the next time he needs to pee.

"Is he having fun yet?"
"Let me analyze the current report. Yes, there is an interval on sheet 9 during points D and F where he had 3 seconds of fun followed by a quick drop off. Points Q and R indicate intense frustration and ma...

It's price gouging plain and simple. A DS Lite costs $130.00 and that has built in WiFi. The MS wireless alone costs just south of that. MS spins it by saying we give our consumers a choice as to what they want to add. Only problem is the choices you get cost 4x the market rate for similar products.

What is the point of the article? Hardcore gamers aren't shutting out the Wii, the Wii is shutting out hardcore gamers. I have all 3 systems and the Wii by far gets the least playtime. There just aren't any titles of interest. Make Wii exclusives I'm interested in and I'll welcome them with open arms.

SE needs to get their bananas in order. The current gen hasn't been kind to them (although hand helds are doing well for them). They don't need a rushed game just to get something out there. I wonder if this action game is part of their western push?

This is actually good news. If you are locked at 60fps that means you aren't pushing the hardware enough. If you dip below, you are pushing it and using up those refresh cycles for heavy computing. The human eye can't discern lag or stuttering at 30 fps so it shouldn't make a bit of difference to the player. I never understood why people get bent out of shape if a game isn't 60 fps.

500 Nintendo Points (5 US dollars)

Wow! A point system that actually resembles its monetary value. MS should learn this strange Nintendo math.

It's been getting better scores elsewhere... around a 7-8.

Good points, although the internet browsing at least to me isn't too useful.

The MS points system where 800 points = $10.00 just seems like an underhanded way to make something look cheaper then it really is. MS had some BS explanation that it needed a point system to commonize across regions, but sounds fishy to me. Just advertise the price in whatever currency they are using in the nation of choice. It converts it anyway when you purchase something.

Any game ported after the fact is going to see improvements and content added. Why would they keep the same old problems and not improve it?

Overlord
Bioshock
Eternal Sonata
NG1 and 2
Alone in the Dark

On the other side of the coin should they go back and fix the issues on the first release? The cost to do that outweighs the benefits. They won't gain very many new sales because of it and developers need to put efforts into development that...

"There are rumours that Iwata-san is to announce a stable of new Wii titles, and with film crews being told not to film past the first five minutes of his keynote, he must surely have something big to announce. "

Good thing they stopped those cameras.

Can we stop regarding blog posts submitted by the authors as real news? The post probably belongs on a forum somewhere.

While I do prefer rentals, my reasons are completely different and valid to my own buying/entertainment habits. I don't feel the need to trumpet them in a blog post. To each their own.

I'll bet his boss loves to hear his development estimates.

When do you think we can release RE6?

I would say anywhere from 6 weeks to 8 years give or take 5 years either way. I would need anywhere from 3 to 312 people on the team. Not quite sure yet. BTW. I'm going to take some much needed vacation time. The wife and I will be on vacation for either 3 days or 14 weeks. We haven't decided (although won't be more than a year).
