This would never happen. First it would never be approved by the FTC. Second, MS owning EA is a conflict of interest. If MS didn't publish for other consoles under the EA label, EA's value would significantly drop. If they did publish, then they are competing against themselves.

Is this a tipping of the hat as to how retailers are going to respond as digital downloads become more popular? Instead of fighting it and refusing to carry the product because they no longer get to sell software, retailers need to figure out how they can make some money in the digital age if at all possible. Remember the music company fought so hard when music went digital and just looked like greedy whiners when all around them companies innovated to facilitate digital music.
I'd have to say for the FPS (focusing on the single player aspect) a few things stand out to me that make it a better game then its neighbor on the shelf.
Variety (environment) - Games get stale when you shoot the same guns and same enemies in the same environments. Resistance 2 had alot of good variety. GeoW2 (although a shooter, but not an FPS) likewise.

I live in Orlando, FL and they have a center in Tampa (about an hour away). I mail out my game and no lie, the next morning I can check my queue and it has already arrived and they send out the next one that same day. I realize I'm geographically lucky, but I have the 3 game plan so usually I'm not waiting on one to arrive anyway.

The author fails to look at all angles of the equation. Sure the Wii can attract non gamers better then their competitors, but as a consumer you expect the price to go down as production costs go down. This is how MS and Sony are able to drop prices. There has been a dip in sales of the Wii, to spur sales a price drop is a good solution. By lowering the price of the Wii, you are making it more attractive to those people shopping for the holidays, thrifty customers waiting for a price drop...

The author has commented in this thread on why he thinks the Wii should not have a price cut. Why not present those arguments in the article?

GTA is one of the only games my wife likes to sit and watch. Usually, she ignores just about any game I'm playing but GTA has an admittedly interesting appeal for a spectator. All the wanton carnage combined with the tongue in cheek comments thrown out by innocent bystanders as you go careening down a sidewalk full of them. Does anyone know the pricing plans for episodes 2-5 of Fable II? I saw the retail version on sale for $29.99 at Best Buy, so I hope they are in line with what is at retail.
