The skeleton that's cheif thunders brother? .... bit thin for conan lol ;)
It doesn't matter, either way ms are using his exit and the new shake up as an opportunity to re-voice the microsoft brand hoping that a clearer message will be good for them. I feel don wouldn't be heading up xbox anymore even if he did stay at ms for this reason alone
@n4rc all the data mining microsoft can do with all of their screens as they call them (three screens one cloud) makes for insane advertising potential revenue wise for them... it seriously doesn't bother you? Watching commercials between your tv shows and being bombarded with more commercials just because you used x1 as a tv guide? They would be making money on a service they didn't even provide in thay scenario and at the cost of the consumers potentially limited monthly internet us...
The assertion that the article writer is paranoid isn't fact either and the assertion that peoples concerns are paranoid doesn't add credence to that point of view. Some level of skepticism is a good thing and I didn't read anything to suggest that microsoft want to hurt you, just infringe on you a little for profit or because they were ordered to which isn't out of the realm of possibility for a big corporation
While I don't see x1 being tin foil hat levels of malicious the vision statement they released when their company reshuffle was explained clearly said that microsoft want to control all of you entertainment with pc, windows phone and xbox one. This means kinect will recognize your face, your bing searches will know your interests and you phones gps will know exactly where you are and when.
The vision statement also made clear that these three screens would share the same...
Basically this reads as ps4 more powerful on paper but xbox games still pretty. Nowhere does it say just as pretty as the ps4 or prettier! People read things however they want to I guess
How are there not more articles around talking about this? If microsoft are using my potentially limited bandwidth to make money surely I'm intitled to some of the profit for supporting thr cost lol
You might have missed the point a little. I do see some use of skype on x1 not for me but for others. What I do bemoan is making everything an easy streaming experiance. I don't have attention deficit, I like to focus on 1 thing at a time and making it to easy to bring up other modes on the console could really ruin my experiance in game. I dont understand touting it as a selling point

It says it right in their vision statement, they want a microsoft controlled home. Pc, windows phone and xbox one controlling all aspects of your entertainment media. 3 screens one cloud. All these devices will share all information probebly on the dedicated servers they bought which they never said were exclusively for gaming.

Not stupid, of course I know it can be turned off... but if I am turning these features off to play games which is the boxes supposed primary function then why is it there to begin with? Ok maybe its useful to some people but why make it seemless? Its distracting that way.
Also I'm no affiliated with anyone or any console... not sure which guys your equating me with
So I'm playing my xbox ine in the future playing a future elder scrolls game or something walking through say a cave. The lights are off and the volumee is high and I'm very immersed in my gamaing experiance. I'm skulking something and my heart is racing for the up coming skirmish when bam! Incoming seamless skype call as I'm about to pounce i n my prey!!! I shit myself and the experiance is ruined....
Doesn't sound like a nifty feature for a games console...

Their new mission statement says it all... they want your pc, windows phone and xbox one all connected to the same cloud of shared information. So lets say I buy into microsoft products and own all 3. Microsoft cloud would not only know what I'm searching for online and my interests it will be able to recognise my face via...
This move makes sense I guess. Microsoft want you to own a windows pc, an xbox one and a widows phone. So they will have a hand in all of your forms of entertainment. Putting their windows 8 lady in charge of xbox one will make sure the xbox and other windows devices will comunicate well. There is a lot of potential money for a buisness if the can monopolize a versitile media hub like that. Its a shame for them it won't work
Getting buisness owners to write xbox one of as a buisness expense may help microsoft shift units. It doesn't project to my mind that microsoft have much confidence in their products ability to sell itself. Microsoft are sounding shaken and weak
This future you speak of would provide what exactly that consoles with an offline mode can't? For those with internet everything that xbox one offered could still be possible just not with disk based games for copyright reasons. Microsoft had no real reason to drop the good stuff and no reason to make online manditory. The future is going ti happen anyway I feel your being a little dramatic
It wasn't me being uninformed that made me angry of these policies, its how exclusive they are to those who either don't want to buy high speed internet or can't. I saw it as a big f you from microsoft at these people and microsoft got a big f you right back
If they do decide to do the drm again at least time it would be optional. By that I mean they came up with a patch so the system could work offline and if they wanted to revert I'm sure they would have to do another software patch which of course customers don't have to download. I'm not a fan of their actions either I just felt it would be fair to point this out although if they did flip 180 again new customers wouldn't have the choice to ignore any patches
So the premise of the article is that the best way to ensure sales is to give away a bunch of freebies? Sounds like the author has a lot of faith in the value of xbox one
They should just remake ff7 with updated graphics... sure a world that big with modern graphics would be hard to make but the effort would pay off I'm sure. Squares current buisness model surely isn't working after all
Yeah I know, I was trying to be funny lol. I barely remember tusk at all I had a lot less fun on ki gold for the 64 then I ever did on the snes original
