Men are portrayed just as steriotypically, most video game male heroes are the very personification of masculinity and testorone. Stoic, strong and dashingly handsome. They totally don't represent the real world male.

The video game industry is all about fantasy after all and if you expect a fantasy character to be a representation of a "real" person your doing fantasy wrong

Kratos from god of war is an almost naked male whose physique is impossibly buff and personifies what are percieved as attractive physical qualities at anyone who looks at males in a sexual way.

The female characters in this game are portrayed the same way except they exemplify the female side of it.

If points are to be deducted for a games art style in regards to the gender of the reviewer then that same reviewer must also remove points for a similarly shrew...

Remind me to call sony and complain about how degrading it is to my gender the next time kratos is in a game wearing next to no clothes

Although the wii sold awesomely well I feel developers decided back then that nintendo were not going to be supported by their top tier games ever again. Microsotf and sony seem much more profitable for them.

This is an example of the industry choosing what the market will do rather than the market dictating to the industry... lets hope the big companies don't decide to bunk off any other systems and completely stifle any competition or innovation

Excess pride, hubris and conceit is exactly what is wrong with the industry.

I remember gaming in the 80's, I had a sinclair zx spectrum and I could buy a magazene every month with an attached cassette with free games that what would be called indie games developers made just for the love of fun and gaming.

I really hope with the openness of gaming towards indies that something close to this can happen again (albeit digitally) as it really drove gaming to...

I think coming up with one example of handholding and saying it applies to all japanese games is a little short sighted and prejudiced.

While I agree that the legend of zelda games do have some handholding there is plenty to discover on your own. The big gorons sword quest from ocarina of time is an example of optional stuff laying in around in those games.

As for speech bubbles explaining things some games are about the plot and how the story unforlds rather...

No, microsoft think you live alone. Why else would they try to own the living room pretending your family wants to watch you game in the living room? Well untio the wife says xbox off and the fighting starts....

I think amazon taking this stance speaks more to how they are thinking rather than what will happen with sony. Either its a glitch by amazon or them covering their own backs just in case there is a system shortfall and people actually do have to wait for their system. If its the latter then the ps4 must have pretty darn high sales numbers, lets just hope supply can meet demand!

From a lot of what I read ot would definitely seem that way. They seems to have more support now with the x1 than ever.

As for myself? They haven't redeemed themselves by a long shot. I am a consumer with no modern high speed internet connection which means I cannot preform the update required to play x1 offline. This is a problem, of course there are work arounds and I could take the console to a friends but why should I have to? Costomers like myself are an after though...

That's what worries me about the average consumer, Anyone who hears the xbox one doesn't require internet to work and who doesn't have the internet may go out and buy one on day one expecting it to work right off then get blocked by a manditory update.... boom needs internet to work after all. It might just be a one off but its still true.

Will these people get a refund? Sure they may be able to update somewhere other than home but jeez I know the lack of consider...

Which is a lot more people than you may realize. If sony would have followed and the all digital future was realized by the industry then it may very well have been much harder for companies to break even on their huge development budgets.

Damaging to gaming for sure

@izzy

Why would you see having no internet as a problem? Let alone a big one? For some people its a choice, for others its a circumstance due to the area they live. Either way its hardly detrimental to them in any way.

Truth is thay without fhe internet there is absolutely nothing to get excited about with xbox one, next time it would be nice to get a response on topic

And for those without internet there is still very little to be excited about.... sigh
