@dark hollow
Not to mention that mario games portray the male as the one who has to do the saving... that kinda macho attitude causes a lot of pressure on men. I know if my girlfriend was kidnappeb by a large prehistoic looking and massively strong turtle I would just get a new girlfriend... and feel bad about it because I didn't live up to the male stereotype in video games and movies
Actually the phone analogy is a good one but not for the reasons dark-hollow points out.
Recently I saw an article on here saying how kinect can pretty much turn *any* surface into a touch pad. Basically kinects forced inclusion is microsofts attempt to turn the tv in to a tablet pc experience, that's likely why it uses a form of windows 8 as its a tablet based software program. Its like some guy at microsoft saw how popular tablets had become and said "xbox should b...
Maybe getting rid of microsoft points wasn't such a good idea for those people living in the delayed countries
There are games that map out 12 different buttons all with different functions how exactly can I tell an avatar on screen to do 12 different actions in front of a camera without a controller?
Yeah the sound thing is cool if you are alone at home but if ither people live with you it could become a pain.
I'm just no seeing how it will innovate games unless of course they combine it with something else but I guess we will see on that lol
This video game war reminds me so much of nintendo vs sega. Actually when you think about it it was a nintendo/sony partnership that birthed the psx and a sega/microsoft one that birthed xbox one so it kinda still is nintendo vs sega...
I've seen sega bomb with dreamcast before, sure it was a fantastic console but it was dead on arrival. Although it *might* not be the same for xbox one the parallels are there.
Food for thought
What exactly is it that you expect from kinect in games? How exactly does one interect with a game with no buttons? How will you pull a trigger in a fps or tell the console anything input wise besides where you are in relation to the console or verbally? How interactive do you expect it to be without a wii or ps move style input device?
Seriously I wanna know because I'm not seeing the appeal unless you use the controller in which case then what's the point?
Lol evolve... motion controlls were big on the wii. All the kinect is, is a much more advanced version of motion controlls. It was never abiut evolution, just capitalizing on the motion control gimmick which people are kinda bored of by now
I agree with this, it started with guitar hero, fun game that a lot of people enjoyed then the dev realized they could release the same thing every single year just with new songs and people would buy it every singoe year for a while. 60 bucks for the same game with "updated" songs... why people supported it more than the first time is beyond me its the same with all the fps you outlined above... no idea why people support it
It might be tagged but the atticle specifies ps4 and xbox one as the next gen. No mention of wiiu
Unfortunately not many people consider the wiiu next gen so I assume the article means opinions between the ps4 and xbox one.
I don't do the whole twitter thing but reading all the tweets it kinda sounds like they are talking about the exclusivity of a game? I find the whole tweet format hard to make sense of sorry lol
Makes you wonder why they just didn't keep the always online drm stuff. An offline xbox doesn't even provide graphics as good as on online xbox if what they say about the cloud is to be believed... what's the point in owning one if you have no internet if the games looking their best is also hidden behind a paywall
Xbox haters and fanboys? You know what Microsoft calls people who are not xbox users? Potential costomers thats what and if your potential costomers are complaining about your product then they are not going to buy it.
Call people who have an axe to grind trolls or fanboys all you want. The truth be told that a lot of these people care about and have invested a lot in the video game industry and are passionate about improving or preserving it. That is something completely leg...
@slice
I'm sure there will be plenty of offline single player experiences on psx and x1 but if I'm wrong then you have a point.
However for someone who wants an offline single player experiance and online features like netflix the choice of console becomes clearer. The one thay doesn't charge for it.
Personal economic situations are NOT the only reason people don't have the internet.
Also some people flat out don't want to play online, some prefer a single player experiance.
Why would someone who doesn't play online want to buy a console that makes them pay extra just to use the internet?
Even if the game is a single player game that is 'enhanced' by the cloud helping AI, lighting or in game physics it means thise without internet would be playing a sub par version of the game.
Microsoft are being VERY exclusive of those without internet or who may loose it, they clearly didn't think this generation through
I think all the 180's add up to 720 ironically enough
If I bought an xbox one and lived somewhere with easy access to high speed internet I wouldn't want to pay for gold as I'm not interested in online gaming and I stream my media through other means.
This means that single player games that benefit from cloud inhanced graphics or AI are the only things behind the paywall thats an incentive for me...
The ability to play single player games at their peak is behind that paywall also... and its disgusting ...
Everything peter molyneux says to overhype his games is unfair. I was so excited for black and white.
Onto his point I think people are still mad at microsoft for some very valid reasons, mine being the cloud. According to microsoft even one player games will be enhanced buy either better graphics or better AI by the cloud so if peeps like me through no fault of their own has no reliable high speed internet connecrion then I have to play my games below par.... by design.
They did say they had a big announcement for "Europe's biggest franchise" at gamescon. Fifa fits
