I can see where you would think a comparison like that was made but my point was that not every persons feelings can be respected.

What matters is a controversy like that this is the intent of the accused and I do not believe that the intent of nintendo was to act in a homophobic way, or out of hate and ignorance even if that is the perceived end result.

I would never actively compare homosexuals to vegans as your correct that doesn't make much sense. I d...

I personally am against any form of animal cruelty. If there are any meat or dairy based consumables in this game I think their should be moral outrage that the vegan community has not been properly represented.

Sarcasm by the way.

I agree with you swiftfox, we do live in an age where all colors, creeds, genders and orientations should feel included and represented in our media and entertainment.

The problem with that is that not everyone feels the same way you or I do, we live in a world full of people who think and believe differently and many people can't see beyond themselves when it comes to developing this stuff.

I am a heterosexual white male, I believe that when people make ...

I think the sexism in gaming argument is to one sided.

For every "helpless" princess there is a impossibly powerful hero who any normal man could not live up to.

Males are given standards that are impossible to achieve in the video game world just like women, be it in the form of acts or looks.

I know if a huge green dinosaur turtle thing kidnapped my lady partner I would have turned, shit myself and gone home for a beer after the ...

You said that the xbox one was microsoft best bet at getting a piece of the digital content pie and that because of it cable was in trouble. You also said that you didn't see a problem with the original content.

The fight over net neutrality is likely to be fought and contested time and again but the fact is currently it's gone, and because of that your prediction of microsoft being able to compete with cable is dubious because of my earlier point.

If...

Cable has an ace in the hole now that net neutrality is gone. They can limit the bandwidth of any company they like making streamed content harder to watch.

If the court decision to strike down net neutrality was not made then you would have a point but it was and now anyone who challenges cable TV will have a hard time, something microsoft should consider given their cloud centric approach to media.

I see your point and frankly I'm amazed that more people dont.

One producer of television shows whether on TV or streamed is in competition for the consumers time and advertisers money or even the consumers money in some cases.

This puts microsoft at competition with cable, amazon, hulu, netflix etc.

I think considering the cable companies control the internet and can limit the bandwidth to its competitors who stream digitally since net ...

Interesting read and you have very good points, your conclusion is both well thought out and logical.

I'm aware that no market can be accurately read and I by no means pretend that my logic is flawless but I don't agree that sold in and sold through are the same in the end.

Consider sony's higher install base, while financially in the short term higher sales may not mean higher profit what it does mean is that more people own playstation 4 (obvio...

There is a big difference between companies like Sony and Facebook though and it's worth considering why when talking about things like this. It boils down to the investors mainly.

Sony is a tech company and as such their investors are used to seeing returns on R&D come back in the long term through sales directly to the customer (us the audience).

Facebook however has investors that are used to making money on a much more short term basis, Facebook pro...

It definitely looked like this was going to be the case until the bet neutrality laws were struck down. Now with consoles doing digital movies and TV it will give cause for cable and dish companies who provide internet to slow their bandwidth down for providers of this content to help stop losing out on the TV buisness. Maybe they will increase prove even who knows.

I'm not fan of the xbox don't get me wrong but I know when to admit they made a good play and in this c...

It's easy isn't it to dismiss the possibilities when your not making a considerable investment in a technology. The developer of minecraft however in terms of time and money had already assumed a huge investment in the rift.

The could and the could nots matter to people who invest in these things, it's only natural to look after your investment.

I dont, Facebook has a completely different priorities than a tech company, they make money off selling ad space and data mining. The companies who buy that stuff are Facebook customers not the users... Facebook investors are interested in making money and they make money from their customers so that's who they pander to and cater to, that is not us the gaming community.

Sure I bet that they are hoping we can become their customers but that is a long term goal and most i...

If net neutrality isn't set straight cable companies could kill this idea in the water. Sure Sony could undercut cable companies with a la carte channels and that would be awesome but the cable companies could charge extra for use of their internet at such high usage and make the savings null and void. Just like they want to do to netflix.
