"No one ever goes into bestbuy and go straight to the cheap korean or chinese made products, come on everyone goes to the highend and work their way down"
Sure they do. Watch this Thanksgiving. The day after there'll be millions out there and they'll look at the BestBuy, Compusa, Circuit City ads and it'll say HD-DVD or whatever for $199 and they'll buy them. No concern over brand at all. They'll be sold out ten minutes after the stores open at 6 am.

I know... needs a Hello Kitty on the back or something.

Bioshock flames in 3... 2... 1...
Well... Hitler's been invoked.
We can all go home now.
;)
Is that per disc?
Cause that's a ton if true. For the consumer it's not a difference... but for movies that sell a million or more copies that's significant.
nah... you see it a lot even outside gaming.
When someone needs to win an argument so badly that it upsets them, so badly that it makes them unfriendly... that means that they either 1) don't have a strong enough argument and are aware of it or 2) are insecure and need to be right in order to feel validated.
Most people are insecure and/or lack confidence. There's nothing wrong with that (unless you want to act like you're perfect, more insecurity). I do have ins...
Did they join or did they state that they'd be exclusive?
Not all the BDA corps are exclusive... If they're going dual I'm happy.
Very true. Modding you up.
Fanboys have, not just favoritism of a console, but identity and insecurities resting on the success or specs of the console/brand of their choice.
A fan will cheer. A fanboy will not even admit any weakness and will attack anyone who points one out.
They'll also hold grudges and disagree at random moments. I guess fanboys themselves would disagree with a non-fanboy's definition.
I agree with you. I never press the disagree button. I press agree occasionally when I see a particularly well-reasoned argument on either side. The disagrees only make sense if you're out of posts... but I think most use them just to troll.
Having said all that, here's my argument in your post:
"However, I am always loyal to the Playstation Brand and have stuck with it since '96. Microsoft has had some shady and underhanded business practices"

And I didn't say that you had said that they hadn't.
I said they all will be crack, and repeatedly. Both have different, multiple layers of encryption. So it's hard to say which is more difficult, though you could count the layers and make an uninformed guess about which was harder to hack. More layers != harder to hack, it just equals more layers.
I support non-proprietary standards, tech has gone down this path too often and it's never worked. I'd ideally like ...
Actually I don't think itunes has Family Guy, so I'm not sure where you "researched".
Edit: I love how people disagree on this site. Post a link. I'd love to be able to buy family guy on itunes. Provided, of course, that it's the TV show. The soundtrack is the only thing on itunes. Disagree all you want, it just shows that you have no argument.
Keep 'em coming. Seriously, just tell me what section or whatever on itunes. I know it won't happen because i...
Actually, the itunes versions are often discounted from the dvd sets.
Example:
BSG Season 1: $25 on Itunes, $45 on Amazon
Season 2: $25 on Itunes, $51.99 Amazon
Mini-series: $15 on Itunes, $20.49 Amazon
Lost Season 1,2&3: $35 each on itunes, $42,43,39 Amazon
He's talking about content companies, not consumers.
Your argument may stand otherwise, but assuming that everyone here has infringed on MPAA media is very shaky.
Also, like it or not, the corporations are the ones playing ball in this war. Consumers are just one player.
Don't forget another list:
Dual-Format: NEC, HP, LG, Samsung, Onkyo
A lot more may join this list in the next few months. I encourage people to support companies that show such rational, consumer-minded thinking.
They'll all be hacked, repeatedly.
Companies don't do this for the pirates. They know the pirates will always find a way. No, this is for parents whose little kids scratch up Toy Story. Can't have them jumping on their computer and making a backup, not when the parent might shell out another $20 for a replacement.
So it doesn't have to be unbreakable, just hard for a soccer mom with a legal reason to copy it. In fact, I doubt it can be unbreakable. There's been ...
I'm a Nintendo fan.
You're really talking about different things. Sure, it could happen, but there's a difference between 64mb<700mb vs. 9GB<25GB... 2 1/2 to 1 is a lot different than 10 to 1. Sure, some developers who have made the choice because they like the architecture or Sony's PR will take advantage of the space, but that's just after the fact.
It's just like when PC hard drives started getting larger and cd-roms started being used. Devs wrote progra...
"When you have to compress something you reduce it's quality."
No... not necessarily. Lossless compression is used quite frequently and there's no degradation.
"So Heavenly Swords sound quality should be incredible."
Except that they said they used compression all over the place.
now if it's lossless then that's great. In the end we don't know. Because the interview was not specific about what was compressed and ...
"leader of bargain bin console maybe."
The Wii actually doesn't need discounts to sell. It's the rest of the consoles that are needing bargain pricing and add-ons to clear off the shelves.
I guess this just happens regardless. Say that a system has hardware problems and the answer is, "well, we've got more games." How do you play those while it's in the mail being repaired? Say that the system has no games and people say "wait til next ye...
crck "Buyers of HDDVD knew that going in."
Ummm... no, I doubt that most did. Most hddvd buyers and blu-ray buyers just see a new toy to purchase. I really doubt they spent an hour a day on tech sites. At most they listened to their salesman at Best Buy.
"If you actually knew anything about both formats, you'd know Blu-Ray is the superior product.
Lemming. Lemming."
It all depends on your values. For some people a...
I think you're right. These players may be marginalized. A lot of people are just getting replacements for their VHS collections. I really doubt a lot are going to start again willingly on HD formats. That's not to say that the formats couldn't be successful, they just may not replace DVD any more than SACD or Dolby discs replaced cds. (In spite of the number of people with surround sound systems.)
"The quality difference is sensational, you do definitely notice it." ...
