Nintendo cares, as do publishers and the markets. They actually make money on their consoles, so it's beneficial to the company's growth and finances their strategies for the immediate future. What people forget (cause they're so used to the consoles sold at loss model) is that, the longer Nintendo stays ahead, the greater their power to stay ahead gets and they become much harder to beat than a Sony or MS that's ahead.

And my Nintendo Wii's getting played every day with an att...

I'm sick of it.

Developers are a lot that touts innovation but if anything isn't precisely to their liking they throw a fit.

I'm not a huge ps3 fan, though I'd like to get one, but all this is just an excuse for being little princesses. Won't work on a multi-core system cause multi-threading is tooooooo haaaarrrrrrd. Won't work on the wii cause it's not sparkly enough for them. Don't like the 360 cause the ps3 is the future, blah blah...

Then what'...

I think we might be getting bad translations. This press event has taken a lot of people by surprise. Several things sound fishy. Give it some time.

Beat me to it. :)

Lower Developer costs + larger, enthusiastic marketshare = profit

Nothing else makes sense from a business standpoint. Next year a different decision might be smarter. If so, expect a port/new MH game.

I'm not really sure why anyone pre-orders anymore anyway, except for an offer that includes a discount. It's pretty rare for any title to be out of stock.

This doesn't bother me that much. Just seeing the Sonic update this morning shows me just how good it's going to be. I don't mind a slight delay when a game's this good. I'd rather them take their time and fix any/all issues or pack in extra goodies.

As for the comments about Delaystation/etc. Delays hurt. Delays have hurt the ps3 and they've hurt the wii. They'll continue to do so. If SSBB had come out at Christmas, then it and Mario Galaxy would have trumped a lot of doubts. ...

"like .. WarioWares SM, one of the worst games ever."

So we're comparing this to Superman64 and Aquaman?

Wow.

What a world you live in. It's a very good game. Maybe not AAA or great, but solid with out of this world art direction. Some aspects of the interface could have been tweaked more and a bit more challenge would have been nice, but it's nowhere near as bad as the lower 90% of games/shovelware across the whole console market.

If there's one truism, it's that gamers with money are anxious and happy to part with it.

Have fun! :D

Ironically this could boost the wii.

If parents think they won't get one at christmas they'll buy one now. Then supply can be better at christmas and parents can buy them then as well.

Presto... boosted wii sales over the entire 4 month period.

Ummm... it's a rumor.

I'm not sure how something that hasn't been done can make someone greedy.

The DS is just hitting its stride.

A lot of reviews of Phantom Hourglass are bowled over by how Nintendo has used the interface. Jam Sessions looks like a perfect on-the-fly demo notepad for musicians. Things like mindmapping or any visual notes (like interior decorating, construction, architecture, etc.) are directions that developers could realize.

A lot's changing. PDA's have had touchscreens for years and yet they haven't cashed in. If game handhelds don't t...

Well said. Bubble.

And just what I was trying to say in a funny little thing that turned into a troll discussion. Anyway, no more resources working that way. It's sad, cause now the only option for true BC is to get a used first gen model. The emulation models won't improve at all from now on.

A lot of people are saying, "fine, just buy the 60gb instead" which makes sense (if you don't mind one out of seven ps2 games failing to play), but if too many p...

$610 is the price for the new 40gb in the uk/eu when you convert it. The word "import" should have given you a clue. Simple. Fab.

We'll see about the US. In the meantime, I know you need attention, but mom's given you enough today. Keep practicing your reading and arithmetic and I'm sure you'll pass the GED soon. :D

Ha. Nice troll.

You don't have the £ character? So I guess you're not from the EU? You're right though. $610 is a great price for a chopped up BR/PS3. I think I'll import one. I saw the £299 when it was posted.

Are you so threatened and insecure that you need to insult someone because you mis-typed something?

6705d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Where exactly are we getting that number? It doesn't cost that in the EU/GB, and nothing has been announced for the US.

Anyway, they're basically saying that they want to save a bit on hardware and they don't want to use programmers any longer on emulation to get a larger percentage of ps2 games to be compatible. The first is forgivable, though I'm not sure how much cost is involved. The second seems a bit less so. I guess this means that people with the emulation-based compati...

"Wii is like PC, its cheap to develop for so there is a lot of shovelware. But does that mean you have to buy it? No not at all. I have a list of 20 or so games im looking to buy for Wii and none of which are shovelware or ps2 era graphics."

People forget that Shovelware was abundant especially on the ps1, and, to a lesser extent, the ps2. That was part of what killed the n64 (aside from cartidges), Nintendo was way too stringent to allow a large library to develop. L...

Yeah. I do have a ps2.

But the ps3 is huge, or, at least, big enough. I don't want to have to keep a ps2 around and waste space (or even power).

it's interesting.

We're starting to see the Wii pop up in pubs, schools and nursing homes. Very pervasive.

@ Dubc

Yep.

A better way to put it is Xbox/Ps3's lack of brand presence with anyone outside of males in the age range of 14-30. Nintendo has plenty of presence in that age group but they have even more outside of it.
