errr... so no mention of anything about the interface. I guess it's too early, but that's most of what matters in beating the iphone.

Both my fencing instructor and my basketball coach told me the same thing about winning strategies... that it's best to meet the person at their strength and then beat them with your strength. So if a fencer is fencing fast or a basketball team is running hard, you meet them at that pace, then you take them into your tempo, your game.

Not yet. Hopefully soon.

Check out Crayon Physics for something similar in the meantime:

Oh, I know. The pseye is a great piece of tech for a great price. All I disagree with is whether or not these vids display any proof of that.

*edit* btw... kudos for the response instead of just a disagree. Wish more people would take the time. *Bubble*

I'm certainly not trying to figure out a reason not to like it.

I like the idea a lot. I love content creation. I love Little Big Planet and will be buying a ps3 in the next year simply for that game. This seems to be along the same lines so it greatly interests me. I watched the video and came back to the thread thinking people would be raving at the creative minds who designed the software to use the pseye in such an innovative way...

Instead I get things about...

I guess I'll keep asking. How does this prove that the eye is a better tool than any other cam?

Everything's 2d, so software can very clearly be made to autocrop, every photoshop version for the last ten years could do that. Seems to me like this is a fab game idea and fab engine within the software. I'm not sure what the cam's innovative features (and yes, it does have some) have to do with it...

So basically it's being used as a scanner? I mean... I guess I'm not that overwhelmed. I don't see any 3d aspect at all in this.

Adding it as content is impressive, but could it be done just as easily with a digital camera of any sort, as they can stream thru a usb port just as well? Seems like the software is doing the work?

The physics part is cool, but not much different than Crayon Physics...

Ooof... yes. Will we see a ton of cracked 1080p screen complaints popping up? Will Sony have to send out wrist straps with the game?

:p It's silly, I know. Not sure if I'm serious...

"If you owned a PS3, along with your 360, I think you'd feel the same too."

I don't think blu-ray has to win for the ps3 to remain viable as a movie player. Choosing sides just because you've bought something to the harm of many other consumers doesn't seem like a logical or compassionate choice. It's better to hope for dual-format ubiquity. Then everyone wins except the crap corporations and studios that got us into this mess.

"Illogical For a consumer to support an inferior format as the "superior" brand. It's like people saying flunk DVDs, VHS is better because it's cheaper.. YES!"

Which is exactly what the majority did until dvd players were under $50. A lot of people still own and use VCRs.

"Consumers still retain the technology as well. The Washington Post has noted that as of 2005, 94.5 million Americans still owned VHS format VCRs.[4]

hmmm... well I would think it certainly doesn't hurt.

Maybe not very many people will download the games, but as long as MS doesn't put any money into massive revamps (achievements, online play mods, etc.) then any downloads are at a good profit.

But if they spend a bunch on them and people don't really care... that could be bad.

This is a good test run though. If you like the idea, like Halo, etc. Now would be the time to buy. If the first few d...

looks like it's not a forced upgrade.

Could be bad if they update the photo section with things you like.

There could be a lot of reasons, as I stated in my earlier post. Eventually one would think that mp3 would die... it's really, really old and really not very good at compression.

6671d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

eh... everyone has them. With the exception of a few vhs holdouts that will never switch.

If hd had picked up the 15 percent that dvd's lost this year, that'd be real news. Still quite a way to go though...

good question... seems like it's saying the entire console will be updated, not just the photo channel.

It is very interesting. The overall gap is getting smaller toward the end of the year. Particularly in the last two or three months, but throughout the year it has fallen slowly. Note that all this is as the marketshare on players has increased drastically on the br side.

Agreed on the $20 part....

Hopefully this war lasts long enough that they drop to that. Otherwise I'm afraid we'll have to higher price point with the mpaa blaming pirates for why no one's buying as many discs. :p

I'm not optimistic at all.

I don't want hddvd to win.

I'm pessimistic about br's shabby approach towards this war. They could have, should have already won. Instead they're barely managing to outsell 2 to 1 to a much smaller userbase. Sorry. That's sad. It's like cheering because you're ahead 70-30 in basketball while the other team consists of one person.

I don't want hddvd to win. I don't want blu-ray to win. Dual Format as the standard tickles m...

Agree.

If each ps3 owner bought two or three br's this christmas they could kill this war in an instant.

I doubt that'll happen.

P.S. - it's 5 to 1, btw.

6671d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Hmmm, wow, that's not bad for hddvd... as they have only 17% of the players.

Not as good for BR, with 83% of the players, to be only taking up 71% of the sales. Pretty stagnant really. If the numbers were even comparable in percentages of players to sales, br would be king and no questions asked.

6671d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

"you've made the assumption that PS3 are not used as BR player but it doesn't hold truth...its plain assumption"

no, I certainly didn't make that assumption. I only implied that things are either low overall or, possibly, the ps3 may have a very low movie attach rate. Regardless, br's attach rate is much lower, and that could affect them if hddvd player sales pickup.

6671d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

ah, yes, but does the ps3 have a significant br movie attach rate?

Apparently not, that's part of why the BRA are so mad about the HDA including those numbers. I can't extrapolate any (reliable) data from mine without the ps3 and really, neither can anyone else.

But if the ps3 br movie attach rate is five times lower than the hd players, then 5 to 1 sales means nothing. Then hd only has to beat stand-alones, which it seems to already be doing.
