There's a certain market segment that buys things solely based on features:
"its far more sophisticated has a ton of new features that the ipod doesn't have like wireless to wireless data transfer, FM tuner etc. "
If everyone in the world loved volvos then microsoft could definitely beat apple in a contest of Classic vs. Zune HDD. The problem is (in that reality as well as this one) that there's already tons of competition in the feature-rich mp3 player...
Common guys, a quick search for mp3 brings this up: http://n4g.com/wii/News-829...
It's an interesting story, but they're both quoting the same press release...
"To me the whole surfer girl thing looks like a stab at publicity. She even said in an interview that she only reported game information to attract people to her political stories but it never panned out, no one cared about her political opinions. If that's the case, why keep reporting the game stories?"
Because she's getting a ton of hits on her website. Maybe she's real. Maybe she isn't. Regardless, she's playing this site and a lot of gamers to make a tidy amount o...
very impressive links...
Good stuff. Looks like someone's working hard at something new and creative for the wii. :D
"If you think his hunch about what a movie exec may or may not be speculating is valid there is nothing I can do to stop you. As for me I decided that unless he had a quote or proof his opinion didn't count for much. But that's just me."
Glad to hear your opinion. :p
I'm not sure exactly where I stated that his opinion meant anything to me. I just stated that, as a comment, it's no different than 99% of the other comments. So your statement is a little ...
This is not a troll, but I'd find a more reliable source. From later on in the thread (a conversation between a poster and the original article poster):
"Poster - "Uh.. a single layered Blue-Ray disk can hold 25GB of data. How can three layers hold 50GB?
And also, a triple-layered HD-DVD can only hold 45GB, so how can Toshiba "magically" make one that is 51GB? Then its not HD-DVD, its HD-DVD+ or something.
zekrahminator -Don't ask me, a...
"Your entire post just got dismissed once you stated the words and I quote "I think"."
Pffft. I disagree with Zhuk most of the time, but what you've just stated is department of redundancy department material.
Everyone here just states what they "think"/opinions occasionally backed up with numbers from corporations with vested interests or media/statistic companies trying to sell stat analysis...
Even if it was complet...
It'll sell well in the 80gb model...
That's the enthusiast/techy model and they tend to look at features more than clean ui. So MS can gain some ground in that area. The Classic is a little awkward at the mo in Apple's lineup. You have to have it for the person who wants their entire collection available, but the Touch makes it a conflicted purchase.
I always said I'd buy the larger storage, but the features/ui of the Touch make it a tempting purchase. But then t...
You do realize that those numbers are for 2006 and that they can/do change drastically each year?
For example, Sony was the second lowest (11.1%) in 2005, and Warner was the highest at 21.7%. So it's not really like where they are in the list matters. It just matters that they're usually big.
It's a little bit confusing as an article.
First it goes on about sales numbers, which was generally pretty accurate. Then we talk about toshiba's reduction in shipments of standalones and br's standalone increase. However, in standalones, HDdvd beats blu-ray handily, even without the 360 drive. So a decrease is not indicative of the assertions made. Then they imply that people all over have experience frustration finding a ps3? Then we get to the crux of the article, features,...
"beta and vhs were rooted for home recording and movie rentals."
The rest of your comment is fine, but that last doesn't seem entirely accurate. Sure, recording was the killer app of the medium, but that was definitely not what the studios or content/hardware makers pushed it for...
ummm... from the review:
"especially considering the cast of characters looks something like the reject pile from the last Hot Shots Golf localization session"
Obviously the aim of nintendo is not to go photorealistic with the Miis. If it were, I'd suppose they could do better than the "Order of the Phoenix" type ugliness we have here. But then it'd make it a lot harder when creating your own, right?
The attach rate rate for the DS was 4 as of December 2006.
http://www.videogamesblogge...
It's such a slog to get into that though. People always remember one article and go off of it. Like the wii, people say the attach rate's low, just to make fun of it. But the official numbers are at 4.5.
I think some of this for Oct. has to do with the 40gb announcement. People who might have been ready to jump on the higher ps3 wait a couple of weeks for the new deal... So it hurts sales for those weeks, but it's all made up after that...
ummm... there's no score on the Variety article.
Every once in a while you're gonna get a hate review. Reviewers do that to gain perceived credibility and try to act like they aren't sheep.
Having said all that, this is not a hate review. Hate reviews don't include such things as: "“Super Mario Galaxy” is proof positive that Nintendo still has some of the best videogame development talent in the industry... The latest platforming adventure starring the port...
ehhh... it's not that bad.
I enjoy it.
It's sort of a like a multi-player deathmatch with your weapon being a shopping cart and nothing's illegal.
Actually it's a little crowded but generally not bad. It used to be much worse, but companies have started the sales several weeks early for years now so the crowd is diluted. Makes for a fab time to shop.
"ms steals anything they can... that's why "One console future" would be the best thing for the consumer, not the companies themselves. it is nice to see that they are trying to run another monopoly though, this may lead to a one console dominance if they do introduce this sort of gameplay into a next gen console."
I understand what you're saying. The videogame consumer will get everything in a one console market, because the main maker will just copy and in...
"The Wii is opening the industry to poor grahpic thrown together sloppy games. It increases revenues but the industry is selling its soul for profits."
Wow... not sure what the wii has to do with any of that. Last time I checked sloppy games were the fault of lazy/cheap developers/publishers.
Anyway, the pc is awful control-wise for a lot of game situations. Fab for FPS, fab for RTS, but needs some sort of secondary control for anything else outside of ...
Oh please. The market's always been mostly crap, will always be mostly crap. In fact, right now I think there's more good games than there's ever been, with an equal ratio of crap. For people comparing it to music... I listen to a lot of music, including a lot indie stuff, great foreign artists, etc. There's a ton of crap in those "more artsy" genres too. And a lot of times the horrible stuff is very hyped by viral marketing.
Sure, if the market expands hugely there'l...
