Plus Natal doesn't just have a camera like the eyetoy, but also has an infrared depth sensor :)

"Compared to a modern personal computer, the relatively high overall floating point performance of a Cell processor seemingly dwarfs the abilities of the SIMD unit in desktop CPUs like the Pentium 4 and the Athlon 64. However, comparing only floating point abilities of a system is a one-dimensional and application-specific metric. Unlike a Cell processor, such desktop CPUs are more suited to the general purpose software usually run on personal computers. In addition to executing multiple...

GPU architecture had to be changed to utilize the improvements brought on by DX11. And judging by the supposed specs of the next Gen GPU's, your not going to have too worry about them running good lol. They are performance beast's, much larger jump in performance than past generation have been.

And yeah, there's no hurry to make DX11 games for a lot of devs, but since it's backwards compatible there's good incentive to do it so it has it for when more users have DX11 hardware. <...

Wow, someone is unoptimistic lol.

Let's go through the reasons why DX11 will win, and not fail like DX10 did.

1.) Windows 7 is getting good reception, unlike Vista.

2.) DX11 is backwards compatible with existing hardware and developers don't need to do much tedious coding to get a DX11 game to work on DX9/10 hardware. A big relief from the coding grief brought on by DX10.

3.) DX11's performance optimizations are very attractive and will help...

When has there been DX10 only titles huh? Crysis could use DX10 or DX9, so I don't see what your trying to get at.

If you mean games mainly using the performance improvements of DX11, and not using Tessellation, then yeah most likely. But Tessellation itself is a good performance increasing tool also. Using it to create more detail instead of conventional methods would further improve the performance of said game.

This will be great, nice to see it getting more support than DX10. Because DX11 really is a great upgrade, and will make for some amazing games once utilized.

It's also easier for developers to adopt DX11 than it was for DX10, because DX11 is backward compatible with DX9, DX10 hardware. The DX9, DX10 hardware merely can't use the new features. So it's going to make developers lives a lot easier.

Nvidia really created quite an amazing system here. That chip is only the size of an iPod shuffle lol. Yet is so powerful and energy efficient.

I wish I had a little touch screen test platform with this thing in it, so I could fool around with coding on it. *Nerdgasm*

People need to remember that this is the first time Natal has ever been shown to the public. It's not even being released anytime this year, It still has a lot of software development to go through. I highly doubt Microsoft would release it before reducing the lag to an acceptable level. Because that would spell almost certain doom for the product.

Early versions of software always have bugs and perform poorly. For example, the first versions of Firefox were horrible, but look at wh...

It is a full blown attachment ChozenWoan. And it isn't just 1 cam, it's 2 cameras. 1 Color camera, like what the Eyetoy uses, and another camera that can see things in a 3D way. Natal has it's own processor also. So it is definitely a huge addon.

That's not all the cores are used for.

Let's say you have 2 applications running and 1 game running. Well, they can each have their own core to run on, so they don't affect the other programs running.

Programs using more than 1 core at a time is called multi-threading, and yes many programs aren't programmed for that. But the other point I made still stands. Plus it's about making the technology available so the developers have the option to implement multi-threading.

No, 0.6% are in Comas. The other 2.4% have overly conservative parents who don't want their kids tainted by the devil's technology! BWUAHAHAHA!

Just like how they don't want you installing OS X on different computers. Because if you do that, they sell 1 less of their overpriced designer PC's lol. The whole way Apple operates is in a totalitarian way, it want's to control every aspect, trying to put people in a position where the only choices they have are the choices Apple provides them. Any other choices are not approved lol.

Ok, I was wrong, you didn't ignore what I said, you were merely to stupid to understand the technology.

The eyetoy only guess's the tension using software based on the images it's receiving. While Natal use's an actual 3D f*cking sensor to see the string bending in 3D space. I don't really know how much more I can dumb it down for you. You don't seem to understand how the underlying tech actually works.

@gaffyh: Unlike me, you can see the differences? Lol? I'm the one who's been arguing for the differences the whole time fool.

I'm not being "sucked in" to the hype. I'm a tech enthusiast, and this is an awesome system that's been put together from a technical perspective. And if that fanboy comment was directed at me also, it's not true. I don't own either console, nor do I have a bias to either one, I'm a PC Gamer. If I had the money, I'd buy both consoles.

*Includes plastic gun with working trigger along with FPS Game.*

Oh look, you have a gun to hold! And Natal will track where your pointing and when your pulling the trigger! Or pull out your old Duck Hunt blaster and use that! lol.

Btw, FPS games aren't the only good games in the world.

@fenix1300: Lol... just... lol.

I can call it a simple webcam, because that's what it is! Before opening your mouth, do some research first. The eyetoy is a basic digital camera. There's nothing special about it's sensor. It's all software that interprets the images that are coming in. It does it's best to judge what's happening.

The reason natal is better, is because of the depth sensor! Which you seemed to have ignored in your post. 3DV had been designing the techn...

@gaffyh: Creating a processor that's setup for just doing certain tasks is cheap actually. Because the architecture isn't complicated at all. And all the fabrication companies really care about is the size of the chip.

Lol, The eye-toy doesn't track depth. It's a freaking digital camera, just like the one in a webcam. The software it uses tries to figure out the depth of things by analyzing the images it takes. But this is extremely limited in functionality. Where as the Natal s...

@JokesOnYou: I agree, the people bashing it seem to have no idea of how the system truly works. They just saw the previews and dismissed the tech because it's Microsoft/Xbox.

When one looks at the actual technology of this system, it TRULY IS the next step in gaming. This doesn't mean controllers have to be phased out though. This system can easily and will easily work along with remotes. To merely enhance many games. You'll be able to have game characters who actually look towards ...
