I agree with (almost) everything you said. I just wish people would stop bringing up "Oil". Iraq is FIFTEENTH on the list of oil producing nations. The have oil, but no way to refine it. The price of oil is set globally, so we have no say there either. Not to mention the rest of the world is not going to sit by and let us take their oil reserves. We haven't taken a drop yet, when is it supposed to start?

Microsoft is finally making a profit in it's games division. That's all they care about. I highly doubt they care about what people say on websites and forums as far as who's "won" or is "winning". As long as they are making money (which they are) then they will stay in.

In all my years of gaming (we're talking atari here) i don't ever recall NOT being able to find a game in stock. I mean sure, certain stores may be out due to promo's etc..... but is this really an issue in other states? I mean this as a totally serious question. I just never see the need to pre-order UNLESS you're getting something extra. thoughts?

I was stunned that a site aimed at "up to the minute news" can't have a simple feed. Seems like a major oversite.

While the PS3 is defiantly gaining ground, they haven't "won" anything. This is still a healthy battle on both sides. So the "everyone" you speak of is a bit of a stretch.

I'm not on either side of this issue, but I'm pretty confident Microsoft "believes" just the opposite.

I have a hard time believing the HD market is anywhere NEAR 60% of "regular people". Since the leap from DVD to HD isn't nearly as big as VHS to DVD, "regular people" are waiting until players are $100 and the movies are reasonable. Until that time they will continue to pump out DVD's. We're talking YEARS here.

I agree with you that there isn't exactly something "wrong" with sequels, it's just that the new IP's that have come out haven't exactly boosted sales. I'm just wondering if titles like MGS and FF aren't going to be bought up by people that already own the console. Again, NOT disagreeing, just trying to get some opinions.

I'm going to throw this out there and probably get slaughtered for it. The one major plus i see for 360 in the long run is the new IP's. All of the "huge" games coming out for PS3 next year are almost ALL sequels. 360 has Bioshock, Mass effect, etc.... So before i get flamed, I'm actually curious. What are the anticipated new ip's for PS3?

Oil?? give me a break. obviously your knowledge of foreign policy goes pretty deep..... Let's see, so are we just going to "take" the oil without paying for it? i'm sure no one would notice. Will we buy it at a reduced rate? sorry, oil prices are set by the free market. As far as going into other countries, i hope we NEVER go there. Anybody we have helped in the past (France anyone?) just spits on us afterward.

First of all, insulting the UK for helping the US in Iraq is just in poor taste. Let me also point out that if you paid any attention to the news, you'd see kids playing in the streets where they were held captive by terrorists just a few short months ago. Regardless of opinions on the war, this is not the place to sling insults about it. I am forever grateful to the UK and it's support for the US. It's called freedom, you should try it sometime.

the The Brave 1, in what world are you living where Microsoft is "getting it's a$$ kicked" by SONY, Google, or ANYONE else for that matter?? So the iPod outsells the Zune by a ton. Regardless of what you may think is "better", Microsoft crushes everything in the computing world. The 360 and Zune are merely Bill's hobbies.

Didn't Bill Gates have something to do with the Lindburgh baby kidnapping? Whatever happened to debate based on FACTS? I swear N4G is going to need to add a separate server for my ignore list alone. All this place is anymore is "FU SONY fanboy" and "FU XBOT". Somebody needs to moderate this crap.

I agree with your comment, just pointing out that everyone seems to forget Minidisc for some reason. Another superior product that failed due to poor business strategy.

Just noticed someone pointed this out already. Oops!

I would also like to add that i KNOW that Sony is the big innovator. However their business strategy over the years has suffered from stubbornness and arrogance. Their stock isn't exactly skyrocketing.

I appreciate the info. I am well aware of the compact disc situation. however, i used minidisc as my example. As for UMD, again i felt it was a wasted opportunity. a GREAT format, but who in their right mind would pay MORE for a movie on UMD with NO features?? I own a PSP and was very disappointed at the price point they took with that one. My main point was also about Sony seeming to care more about promoting it as a BR player than an awesome gaming system. bubbles to you though. Sorry for p...

the only reason i don't feel bad for developers, etc... is because for over 20 years i've purchased countless crappy games that i was unable to return. Think about it. The music, movie, and game industries are the ONLY ones where you can't get a refund if you're not happy. And i don't buy all the "oh well you could copy it and return it" garbage. there's nothing worse than dropping $50 on a game, getting home, and it blows. only to be offered about HALF that amount if you want to ge...
