Personally i think it's too soon to say space will become a huge issue. Methods of compression COULD get better. We just don't know yet. Look at how MP3's and AVI files revolutionized those formats. What's to say that dev's won't be able to make games SMALLER?

I might be alone here, but I'm still not convinced everyone is going to switch to BR. I remember working part time at a video store when DVD arrived. We only started seeing a big increase when VHS was GONE. And that was a bigger improvement in picture than BR is to DVD. And don't give me the "adopting faster than DVD" argument. I highly doubt that's true in actual movie sales. The market is concerned about the casual user. And your mom and mine aren't buying BR players until they ha...
I just love the fact that people still want their console to "win". Price cuts on ANY system help ALL gamers because it forces the others to do things they otherwise wouldn't. It's called "competition", and the only one that benefits from it is YOU. So unless you want one system with slow innovation and no price drops, stop wishing for the death of the other 2 consoles.
Does anybody else find IGN painful to navigate? Why do all gaming sites have to have 4 million ads on every page. Especially irritating are the ones that zoom in over the page (not the pop ups) that you have to close. Pages take forever to load. Annoying as sh*t.
I'm curious, when people say BR is getting adopted faster than DVD, is that just for hardware? I just wonder if the PS3's are distorting the true numbers. How well are the movies selling? I just seem to remember my friends buying standalone DVD players. i still don't know anyone with a standalone BR player. I honestly don't really care, but i would love to know the "attach rate" of actual BR movies VS DVD in the early days.
i just get tired of the "no games" argument. Don't get me wrong, there is a LOT more crap, but few games are the quality of first party Nintendo titles.
How many great games does the Wii have? How many does the PS3 have?
I highly doubt that Nintendo is seeing games you personally want to play as a barometer for their success. The Wii caught everyone off guard including skeptical developers. I'm sure they will catch up with some good titles. I would like to see people's lists of truly GREAT games already released for the Wii and PS3. I would bet they have about the same amount....
Madden has NFL licensing exclusivity. That's why there's no more 2K football. Which a lot of people preferred.
In my opinion, this was directed squarely (no pun indented) at people like me. I already own a 360. I am a HUGE FF fan, and YES, it could sway me to buy a PS3. What this has done is make that decision more difficult. If FF were to come out today, i would buy it for the 360. Now two years from now when hopefully the PS3 is WAY cheaper, who knows.

I totally agree. MS isn't doing anything most successful businesses don't do. It's far cheaper, easier and faster to buy competition then to fight it. Right or wrong, it is what it is.
I think everyone can agree that the biggest SURPRISE of E3 was FF coming to the 360. While Sony may have a stronger lineup this year, it really was old news. I think after the FF announcement people were expecting MAJOR announcements from Nintendo and Sony. That's what i think the point of the article is. Not one thing announced from Sony or Nintendo had people going "what did he just say?"
The fact is, 3rd party exclusives are going the dinosaur. Accept the facts. If you were a publisher, why would not want to potentially double your sales?? While FF13 may not be a deciding factor for someone who does not own a console, it IS for some people that already own a 360. I have been waiting for a significant drop on the PS3. For me personally, just for FF13. I'm not saying there aren't other good games. Just not one i would buy another console for. Now i don't have to.
