March is aways a solid month for Playstation. In recent memory there's been Bloodborne, MLB, God of War Ascension, and God of War III. A big exlusive game falling in that March time slot doesn't really surprise.
To others' points... Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank and Gran Turismo have been the only Sony ip that religiously release in that holiday period until now. Both Uncharted and R&C were delayed into 2016 and we have yet to see anything GT7 related.
FROM should write tragedies.
GameCube? Setting the bar too high.
It's duking it out with the Dreamcast.
The only competition comes from NA, and UK. Everywhere else is a one-horse race. Seems like Playstation 4 has some good news about numbers every week. Milestones in Spain, Germany, UK, Japan, Portugal, etc.. All within the last month. The good news continues tomorrow with NPD.
Ironic that the single Playstaion game is actually Microsoft owned. It's going to be Vita's first million seller in Japan too. Already over 500k digitally and near 200k physically and averaging over 10k+ a week in the slow months.
These lore pieces are great. Keep'em comin' Twifinite.
One's worth mentioning, three. Need for Speed, that Ubisoft open world game, and DriveClub.
Project Cars is the only sim racer.
Same here. Doesn't even show up on mobile.
These sales are about half of what consoles two generations ago were doing weekly. Dieing may be a hyperbole, but declining? Yes.
That does make a slight difference. It won't have a severe drop like other RPG's. It should do fine in the next couple weeks, especially with Golden Week coming up.
Certain franchises succeed regardless of install base. FF and KH are among the biggest names in Japan.
These numbers are not official and cannot reliably be used to assess where a console is YoY. Last official word PS4 was slightly up YoY when they announced 20.2m sold. And 3ds got a great shot in the arm with the N3ds, MM, and MH. We have no information on Xbox since they announced "nearing 10m shipped" last holiday season.
Another thing: The second year is usually better because that's when pricedrops are brought into play and blockbuster exclusives release. A ...
They are two weeks behind. Next week will be BFH and Type-0 and the week after that is Bloodborne. I don't know how long that will take, but I'm guessing they are waiting until after NPD.
I'm guessing Bloodborne does 250k-300k in NA, 150k in Japan(confirmed), 50k in UK(confirmed) and 200k in the rest of EU. Should pull in >700k in its first week. Digital should bunny that up a couple 10thousand k. Since it topped EU, US, and Japan's PSN top downloads list,...
I'm guessing they wait until after NPD, Media Create, Famitsu, Chart Track, etc post numbers before they put out much of anything.
T_T
Nintendo handhelds have been dominating for decades.
Use the Bloodborne Original Soundtrack on Spotify :)
Honestly, I would agree, somewhat. By the way, it's not so much memorable as it is marketable. Otherwise Skylander's would be getting crushed by Disney Infinity. Disney is the bigger, more memorable brand afterall.
Playstation has plenty of memorable characters but they just aren't as marketable as a Mario or Pokemon. Nathan Drake, Sackboy (I'm surprised LBP doesn't have plushies already), Kuttaro (Pupeteer-Sony dropped the ball on this one marketing wise)...
Confirmed 150k in Japan. Confirmed 50k in UK. Reports of Bloodborne doing better than The Order in NA. ~300k. Rest of EU steps up and matches NA with 300k.
I could definately see 750k+ FW. Might even topple Infamous' 9 days 1m sold.
They needed the extra time. Pure and simple. ND is synonymous with quality. The game wasn't going to make the deadline so they delayed it just like TLOU in 2013.
