I wasn't aware that the PS2 was still considered a portion of the 'current' market when it came to market share, but if it is then it does control more than half of it even if you combine the PS3, 360 and the Wii.

None of those characters belong anywhere near a list of "best" FF characters.
Because huge numbers of Wii owners are either 30 somethings that have never played a Metroid or a Zelda in their lives and only know who Mario is thanks to sheer saturation and another huge chunk are children. The number of people who own a Wii and are interested in games like No More Heroes and MadWorld is not a large number when compared to overall Wii sales.

Back in the Lich King beta you could get 'cold weather flying' or as I called it 'the ability to use something you'd already paid over 5000 gold for' with a quest.
Children who wanted immediate gratification whimpered and whined and so Blizzard took out that whole 'RPG' thing to satisfy them by letting people throw gold at the game instead. That would have been fine if they'd left the option in to quest for it... Why? It's an RPG. I may have close to 10,000 gold but I don't want ...
You have to remember that there are two major factors when it comes to making money on a console: The console itself, and the games.
As stated, Microsoft is bleeding money right, left and center on their console. They lose money every time somebody buys one, but they are not unique in this by any stretch as that's been the 'way of things' for awhile now amidst a lot of console makers. The idea being that you take a loss on the console, and make it up with the money from the game...
There is no reason you should ever shop at Gamestop. Pity the employees, but do not shop there.
