"these things were free"
What? Except for the "cross buy" phase Sony had, which primarily dealt with getting smaller titles on both Vita and console, this "next gen upgrade" system is pretty new. When PS3/PS4 cross gen games were coming out, companies weren't handing out native versions of the PS4 game if you had the PS3 version (except the indies doing Cross buy).
Unless you are just being disingenuous and talking about ...
I mean, they already released a "next gen patch" for the PS4 version that allows you to play at 60 fps on PS5. You can keep playing that; no one is going to hold a gun to your head to make you pay for the native PS5 version.
@Aussiesummer
The PC gaming comparison is flawed, because this is a different iteration of the game, not just better performance. Sony released a patch for GoT that allows it to take better advantage of PS5 (60 fps). So, just like if you buy a better PC and your games run better, GoT will run better on PS5 than PS4 without you needing to pay more. However, this is a different version of the game with additional content. Similarly, I own the 2007 version of Crysis on PC, but...
Imagine writing an article without doing one google search to make sure your primary argument isn't completely incorrect.
Yeah, no one played Halo 2 or Socom II.
It's because more people can believe they are good. If you are trash in a team-based game, it is going to evident, because you are facing the same situation over and over in a game, and the cream will rise to the top. In a BR, even trash players can get lucky/camp strategically and occasionally get into the top ten. So even if you do horribly most of the time, if you get that occasional 3rd place, you'll still get that rush and believe the idea that you can win.
Good. This was the most annoying fad in gaming since the Wii.
Good. If you are going to improve the specs, make a new generation of hardware. This half-step nonsense needs to end. You either end up with something like the New 3DS, which has a small handful of games designed for it that actually take advantage of the new system, or you get the One X/PS4 Pro situation where no games are designed around the new hardware.
Lol I think it's a little too late for that. Though admittedly I'd love to see how good it could look with some modern touch-ups on high end hardware. It still looks excellent, particularly considering it was a PS4 launch game.
By Banthis's logic the Souls games are multiplayer focused.
Oh, is the game only 16 GB for the PC version as well? I thought this article was specifically discussing the size of the PS5 version of the game.
Loving seeing this benefit of the SSDs/compression this gen.
Sweet. And saves actually transfer (cough, cough, Control).
@VersusDMC
Isn't Warzone still just a BR mode though? If so, many people don't like BRs, particularly people used to team-based multiplayer (which is why many people play COD). Why would you switch to a game mode you don't like just because it's free?
I think actually a number of CODs retain an active playerbase even after newer ones come out. I think non-COD people like a lot of us on here are guilty of assuming that the COD-types buy each COD every fall, when in reality for some it's more like one every few years.
I agree with you, but when they give us cool, underplayed indie games, everyone whines about that and says "dur hur, this month is mehhhh."
@CosmicTurtle
The first one was one of my favorite new IP from the PS3 generation.
Lol the classic "I assume you're young because you disagree with me" response. I expected better, but I guess I shouldn't have.
I'd love to hear more specifics about this fairytale land of free stuff you seem to remember, rather than just vague statements. It can't have been that long ago, given you are talking about using the internet. Unless you were one of a select few, you weren't using the internet on a day to day basis prior to the 1990s....
