Haha the PS4 version is probably running at like mid-20s fps on base PS4.
It's especially disappointing because Techland made the smart move by canceling the last gen versions (PS3 and 360 at that time) of the first Dying Light, so we didn't end up with a gimped game. You'd think that with how that game became a massive success (instead of being forgotten in 3 months as it likely would have been if they would have gimped it for the older consoles), they would have realized that focusing on the current gen at the time is the right move.
Haha okay fair enough.
@MetroidFREAK21
That's what I did as well. And then I just locked down as many as I could because I knew none of my friends would have the awareness to be online and that they'd all just expect to be able to leisurely get on Amazon the next day and get one lol.
@Sitdown
That's awesome. I was able to get mine and several for friends as well (for MSRP lol, no scalping). I hope thos kids appreciate it even more now seeing that ...
While I'm sure there are people new to PlayStation buying the PS5, I'm guessing it will be a lower percentage than with PS4, just because PS4 was so much more popular than PS3. Obviously it was a little different elsewhere because Xbox is most popular in the US, but a lot of American kids/teenagers at the time got into gaming with the 360, so PS4 was their first PlayStation when they switched over. Because so many more people had PS4s than Xbox Ones, there isn't as much of a built...
Yeah this seems like it will actually just create clutter, but some people kept playing the PS4 versions of games accidentally, despite the large bold letters indicating it was the PS4 version.
Physical games still install the exact same file on to your drive. PS3 was the last gen where games actually ran from the disc. For PS4 and PS5 it's just a means of installation (and then physical DRM so you don't just sell the disc after installing).
Unless you are saying that you don't mind uninstalling and reinstalling more often because you use discs.
Lol this makes me wonder if I should go ahead and snag that $150 XPG drive on Amazon
It's a bit crazy that the night they announced the price has still been by far the easiest time to get them. Although when they were doing directs almost every single day late last year wasn't too bad either, as long as you were using the PS5 Hunt discord and were aware of the patterns of when they went live.
Haha those notorious scalpers who horde PS5s and don't resell them.
This is good evidence for why native PS5 versions of games can be important even when there is a PS5 patch for the PS4 version. A lot of people who played the PS4 version with the PS5 patch allowing for 60 fps seemed to think a native PS5 release was pointless because the PS4 version ran so well via BC. But there are plenty of people who won't understand what a patch will do but will understand that the PS5 version is better. Obviously a lot of those people bought the game last month.
So basically the last gen versions are averaging 23 fps on the base consoles and Techland doesn't want Dying Light 2 to be called "this year's Cyberpunk." Who wants to bet that when press plays it next month, they won't be playing it on base PS4 or Xbox One?
It's about time lol.
It's still rare for a game to get this many tens. Most people probably expected a lot of 8s from these types of sites.
Lol it's also ironic that MS is releasing one of the only PS5 games that isn't cross gen with PS4.
I don't get why people are pretending to not understand that you are talking about all of the Bethesda Studios (i.e. Arkane, id, Machinegames). If I said that Sony is good at making third person action games, everyone would understand that I was including Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Sucker Punch, Sony Santa Monica etc.
Yeah that's disappointing. Obviously when Sony made the exclusivity agreement with Bethesda for Deathloop they weren't anticipating that MS would purchase Bethesda, but it's still possible that some of the language in the agreement precludes any sort of release on a subscription service like Game pass, even if on PC.
Well, the people who made left 4 dead can't even get left 4 dead right anymore, so maybe this is for the best.
Yep. In a world where there's a lot of contention over game prices, there's a game reviewing at GOTY levels from a proven developer for $54 new.
You missed the point pretty hard. Sony DID release a free patch for Ghost of Tsushima so that the PS4 version takes advantage of the PS5's better hardware. This is pretty common knowledge at this point, but you can easily find videos on YouTube showing the PS4 game running on PS5 with the patch that unlocks the framerate. I played much of the game this way. So the primary argument in your comment is totally false.
My point is that some people don't understand this. ...
