Yeah, it kind of tells you what games people are playing when they talk as if every game is over 100GB.
People who buy a digital only console clearly have no intention of buying physical games. You can't "get shafted" by not getting to do something you don't want to do. That's like saying people who buy a house away from the ocean "get shafted" because they can't go deep sea fishing. Presumably if they were interested in deep sea fishing, they'd move closer to the ocean.
How did they abandon BFV? They kept adding maps (if anything they were too slow to start with new maps). The Pacific Theater maps they added in late 2019 are the part of the game people actually agree is good.
I know BFV is one of everyone's least favorite games in the series, but it wasn't because of a messy launch. This is looking more like BF4.
I'm not understanding you on this point. For all its marketing issues and the small number of maps, BFV worked at launch. BF4 was the one that was broken for an extended period of time.
@kryteris
Unfortunately at the time 2142 came out I didn't have a solid PC, so I largely missed that one. My favorites are 1942 and Bad Company 2.
Ironically BFV launched in a much better state than BF4.
Yep. It's not inconceivable that Sony Santa Monica's next game will be PS5/PS6 cross-gen.
These long dev cycles are a big part of what makes cross-gen games so disappointing. These devs that are releasing cross-gen games when PS5 has already been out a year and half (estimating GOW's launch) might not get another game out until the very end of the generation.
Maybe they feel like they don't want to repeat the Kratos vs Zeus story.
It's not dying. It's just that it isn't a titanic anymore because game sales have become more concentrated in a smaller number of franchises. In the PS2 gen, a game was a hit if it sold 1-2 million. So games like GTA and Gran Turismo that sold over ten million were crazy standouts. The same is true with Halo. It would sell over 10 million when other games were major hits if they sold 3-4 million. But now there are far more games that sell over 10 million, and then there are free t...
@Yui_Suzumiya
I don't think they'll put the second game on the Switch. My guess with the first one is that it will be 30 with frequent dips. Probably similar to the Witcher 3 on there, which is playable but hardly the best place to play it. If they can keep it locked at 30 I'll be very impressed.
@mastaleep
Yeah it will probably be fine, and it's definitely a great value. I just want people to have as much info as possible before spending $.
@Lakebumstock
Haha I see you are new to N4G, but I didn't turn off replies, you just can't reply to a third level comment, so you have to reply to the second level again (like you did).
"So do you have world wide numbers or are you just gonna use the UK as a reference."
I use UK numbers because those are the only numbers broken down by platform that we get with any reliable regularity. If you have a source that provides worldwid...
They do, just not nearly as frequently and they aren't as well publicized on here.
In the UK over 85% of its sales are on Playstation. So if you are implying that being multiplatform is a major sales boost, I don't know what your basis for that is. Another fun note, the PS5 version outsold the PS4 version more than 2-1, so that trend continues, unsurprisingly.

Yeah I typically like how games often ship with multiple graphics modes these days, but honestly on this one it probably would have been better to just launch performance mode as the way to play the game, then add other modes via update when they are stable, as Insomniac did with performance RT mode in Miles Morales.
The weather is such a nuisance. It's just another instance of the Battlefield Devs seeming to misunderstand what makes Battlefield special. Players celebrate the dynamic moments that are created by individual players doing cool things within the confines of the game, but DICE always wants to try to force "iconic" moments. This is how we ended up with the "Levolution" pre-scripted destruction. The weather seems like it's going to be a more annoying Levolution. The f...
Good to know. This is what worried me about the PNY CS3040, which tops out at 5.6. If it has a similar dropoff in actual use on PS5, it will fall below Sony's recommended minimum.
PNY CS3040 is priced really well but its max read speed is 5600 mb/s, which is barely over Sony's minimum. Given they don't promise that games that meet their minimum recommendations will run as well as if they were on the internal SSD, I think people should be aware that this one is slower than most of the other recommendations.
People are hating on this, but if it's priced correctly it will be pretty popular. The 1TB version is kind of an odd proposition in the context of the Series S, because if you pay $300 for the S and $220 for the card, you might as well have just gone for the X (I know the S is way easier to find, obviously). For a lot of S owners, a $99 500GB card might make more sense. Obviously if it's priced at $150 or more, that will be a little silly.
