Yep. Once again the PS5 version of a game outsold the PS4 version more than 2-1 (even though these are only physical games and some PS5s can't play physical games).
Exactly. This seems much more like they developed the Xbox version around Series X and neglected to optimize for the S.
While I don't think it's out of the question that games later in the gen really suffer on the Series S, this seems more like laziness that anything else. I mean Fifa is hardly going to push Series X/PS5 to their limits such that the Series S won't be able to handle it.
@CaptainHenry916
I assume they will both be credited when the game comes out. I'm just saying the idea that because a studio got in trouble with a game does not automatically mean the studio is bad. SSM went from making a game that Sony decided it was better to cancel to God of War 2018.
I mean, Sony Santa Monica, who almost everyone admits made one of the best games of last generation, had to completely scrap a sci-fi game they had pumped years into.
Also Naughty Dog actually did have a lot of trouble with uncharted 4 and had to reshuffle their studio and rework the game to get it out.
Even if you don't play racing games, you have to appreciate how well some of them nail the graphics.
Haha yeah I think mine is good until sometime in 2024. Next time I see them at that rate I'll probably add a few more years. You can kind of do the same thing with Gamepass, albeit with a smaller discount. You can sometimes find the 3-month ultimate keys (MSRP: $45) for ~$30 and stack them up.
Unfortunately at launch BF:V avoided the major WWII battles we all want to see in a game like that, apparently on the grounds that they've been done too many times. Fortunately they added some good Pacific Maps in the DLC, but a lot of people had already checked out by then.
The silly thing is that you are complaining about getting what you wanted. A new IP is #1 on the chart. Do you seriously expect the top ten to be entirely new IP every week? Because you are severely underestimating the cost of new IP if so. Actually, if you want to see new IP succeed, you should be happy to see that Deathloop got a week where it isn't competing with a bunch of other new IP. Ironically if new IP were always competing and cannibalizing each other's sales, fewer of them ...
I just assumed that everyone would understand I was talking about directly competing consoles (I.e. PS3 vs 360, XONE vs PS4, etc). Maybe you don't have much experience with the Switch, but it is quite different from the PS5 and XB Series.
Also, even if I was talking about the Switch, your statement would support, rather than undercut my point, because it got out earlier than those consoles and now has an install base advantage. How could you have read my comment and th...
It's kind of funny that the first 10 months of 360 were almost exactly the same as the first 10 months of PS3. Given the wildly different perception of the two consoles during those periods, you would think 360 would have done a lot better. It really highlights how important that one-year head start was for 360, and why no console manufacturer can ever let that happen again.
"everything coming out in that genre tries to be the Halo killer."
What? Are you living in 2009? I don't think anyone has called anything an attempt at a "Halo killer," since the PS3/360 gen. People making shooters rarely even make them in the same vein as Halo anymore. Honestly that's part of the reason Splitgate is getting so much attention right now, because it is actually more of a Halo-type feel.
I didn't even know Halo games had mtx.
If Sony released a legitimate Gamepass competitor (i.e. including new and more recent games), how would any third parties make any money on game sales? We are already seeing what Gamepass is (quite understandably) doing to game sales on Xbox, but at least now a third party has the option to put a game on Gamepass and get an upfront payment and then sell copies on Playstation. If PlayStation had a similar service and enough people got on, PS owners will stop buying games as well.
It's kind of amazing how when something requires the slightest bit of thought, we get a bunch of articles and comments about how "it's so confusing, there's too many options, people won't know what to do." Meanwhile adding an SSD to PS5 was way easier than switching the HDD on PS3 or PS4.
Although you can't fault MS too much for making it convenient. It's just too bad one company has the exclusive right to make them, so there isn't any ...
Yep. It's clear that some of these companies made a serious miscalculation on how quickly the new consoles were going to sell and and how much sales of games were going to drop off on the old ones. It doesn't matter so much for a smaller multiplatform game like Hades, as it was never going to take advantage of PS5 anyway. But it's really disappointing that Sony is holding back Horizon, GOW, and GT7 for a console where they will only sell a small minority of their overall sales of ...
Lol I'm glad that if you had that power you would use it for such an important purpose.
Exactly. But people just want to look at it as a straight numbers issue. Like "there are 115 million PS4 owners and only like 11 million PS5 owners, of course games will sell more on PS4." This fails to acknowledge that the people who don't care about upgrading to PS5 are very different types than those who are upgrading.
Hades is #3 in the US and #2 in Europe on PS5. It did not chart in either region on PS4. So for all the people who said "those are only UK physical sales" when I pointed out that Hades PS5 outsold the PS4 version 3-1 at launch, here you go. Just like with Hitman 3, the PSN charts confirm what we saw in the initial UK sales: new games are selling on PS5, not PS4.
Lol well I guess we're about to find out if this game really is broken or if that's just a bunch of "insiders" peddling clickbait.
