@MCTJim Is it? Because in one interview with Eurogamer, Spencer said the Scorpio was only about 4k, there would be no advantage to it on a non-4k display, there would be no Scorpio exclusives, and that Xbox One owners would get the same games. In the same day, in an article on Gamingbolt, he said Scorpio is not just for 4k, and that Devs can do whatever they want with the extra power. But both of these things can't be true; either devs can use the extra power and make exclusive/expanded g...
It is okay for games to evolve. Mario moved from 2D to 3D. Elder Scrolls moved from a ridiculously large, randomly generated world (Daggerfall) to much smaller, but methodically designed worlds. Fallout switched from a top-down perspective to First/Third person. Diablo now allows for direct control of characters. In Madden, you can no longer throw a pass through a player's back and have them still catch the ball. Call of Duty used to be a World War II series. Metal Gear Solid used to have...
It seems like single games are "system sellers" a lot less often than they used to be. I doubt many people will buy PS4s just to play this one game, but I do think that the knowledge that a Spider-Man game is coming, in combination with games that are out now (like UC4 and Overwatch) and other games that are coming soon (like Battlefield 1, No Man's Sky, RE:7, and Horizon, as well as annual games like COD and NBA2K) could help push people towards upgrading to PS4 from PS3.
Mario is one of the most iconic characters in entertainment too. Heck, Master Chief was ten years ago. Just because a character reaches a certain level of popularity doesn't mean everyone somehow deserves to have the games that character is in. By your logic, every game featuring a popular character should be a mobile game, since that is the way most people would experience the game.
Sony makes great titles when they publish them; would you rather have a Spider-Man game...
@Foxtrot Would you really want to play another GOW game like the others, where Kratos' character development is pretty much limited to him just being mad and seeking revenge, and the game is basically just over the top action? Because it seems like most people got tired of that (see Ascension's sales compared to GOW 3), especially after 3 was such a logical conclusion to that whole character arc. Even apart from GOW, how many games of that type are coming out now that are selling mill...
Games change though. Originally Mario didn't have 3D models. Should Mario 64 have been a new IP since it wasn't 2D? Resident Evil 4 changed the series significantly, and it is considered one of the best games in the series (and one of best games of all time by some).
@slate91
That idea still contradicts much of what he said in the interview with Eurogamer. He said games on Scorpio are going to be the same as games on Xbox One, which means devs can't use that extra power to make bigger worlds etc., compared to what they could on Xbox One. However, I feel that they are going to keep the message murky for the next year or so, because if games really will be different on or exclusive to Scorpio, that could kill One sales for the next 18 months.

This interview explains that Scorpio is basically just a 4k Xbox one. It says there won't be Scorpio exclusives. Apparently the goal of Scorpio is to run games in 4k at the same frame rate they run in their normal resolution on Xbox one. So really it is more Sony who may be screwing fans with Neo, since that may actually run ...
He directly contradicts this in an interview with Euogamer you can read here: http://www.eurogamer.net/ar... In this interview, be clarifies that Scorpio is for 4k, and there will be no benefit unless you have a 4k display.
Didn't realize they put a demo out, I'll have to download that and check it out tonight.
These articles were happening for weeks on end for the Neo, because Microsoft did a better job avoiding leaks of Scorpio. The people commenting on those articles said the same thing about how the upgraded Xbox should be included in the titles. Either way, these are such bad ideas. Why can't they just wait until 2019-2020 and give a new generation where there is no confusion about whether new games will work on the old systems?
Yeah, unfortunately Neo and Scorpio may really ruin everything good about console gaming as we know it.
The problem is going to be when they demo a new game on Scorpio and that is all people see pre-release, then it runs like trash on the old consoles that far more people own. "But JEECE, you Sony Pony, PCs have different levels of power, and games work there." Yes, that's true, but if you have an older PC and a game runs poorly, you can adjust the graphics settings (turning down view distance, lowering or switching off anti-aliasing, switching to a lower resolution, using lower-g...
I think Fox is implying that the games on it can't truly take advantage of the beefed up specs if they are only upgraded versions of the Xbox One games. Sure, they might have 4k resolution and/or run at a better frame rate, but if the game is built on the Xbox One, the Scorpio version isn't going to have better AI or different gameplay systems that couldn't be achieved on the original Xbox One. And since by the time Scorpio releases at the end of 2017, probably about 30 million pe...
It's really refreshing to be excited for one of the mainstream FPS games again.
@Hold_It I don't know that it did better than Dying Light (which is also a far better game in any event), but even assuming so, I'm saying Dead Rising did well because it was out when there weren't a lot of games out on the 360 at all, not just that there weren't many in the window that it released (which is what you are saying about Dying Light). Dead Rising came out before Gears and COD 4, so people on 360 were still playing original Xbox games at that time. By the time Dyin...
@boing1 Utalkin2me is right. If you want to compare controller vs K&M, you are going to have to pick a legitimate example. If you can do well with a controller in counter-strike (or a similar shooter without COD's aim assist), then people might start to take you seriously.
If they are going to sell a much more powerful Xbox next spring, the slim this fall needs to be pretty cheap. Plus if it is disc-less, they wouldn't have to worry about people buying used games, so it would benefit them to take a loss on the console since all games purchased would be digital. I have no plans to buy an Xbox One, but if they made it much smaller than the current model and sold it for $150ish, I probably would grab one just so I could finally play Sunset Overdrive and Quantu...
I don't see why this is a big deal. Dead Rising only ever got big because it was on 360 early when there wasn't a big library yet. When Dead Rising 2 came out on both consoles mid-gen, it didn't make anywhere near the same splash. Most PS3 users ignored 2, so why not make 3 and now 4 exclusive to Xbox One?
The same day Spencer said that stuff about Scorpio only being for 4k, he also said devs can use the extra power however they want. If this is true, it totally contradicts the idea that the games on Scorpio aren't going to be different than the Xbox One versions.
