@Christopher
Wrong. Sony wants you to say "I'm going to buy PS4 because that's where my friends play online" just like MS wanted you to say "My friends all play on Xbox Live, so I'm going to get a 360" last gen.
Sure, it would be fun for us, but these companies don't make decisions out of the goodness of their hearts.
@gangsta_red
It makes sense for MS to allow cross-platform play, because they understand the blatantly obvious phenomenon where the leading console gets even more sales because new buyers go to the console where their friends play. They benefited from this last gen (at least in the United States), and they know it is working against them now. They want people on Xbox to be able to play with PS4 users, so people won't make the decision between the consoles solely on want...
Says the person who hasn't owned a Sony console since PS2.
@CocoaBrother
It only makes business sense for the company selling fewer consoles. The fact that more people have PS4s means that the average person has more friends playing on PSN than Live and that is motivation for them to choose a PS4. Why would Sony eliminate this obvious advantage?
People have to realize that cross platform play makes absolutely no sense for the company selling more consoles. Getting ahead creates a snowball effect where new buyers buy the console in the lead so they can play online with their friends. Adding cross-play eliminates that advantage. If I'm on the fence about which system to buy, and I like gears of War but all my friends play all the other games I like on PS4, I'll probably buy PS4 to play with friends; but if I can get an Xbox and...
Exactly. MS wouldn't do it when they felt like they were "winning" and Live was a business advantage (i.e. people on the fence picked 360 to play with their friends). But now that the tables are turned, it's a great idea.

$20 is a really great price for this game. If you have friends you can play with, I'd go ahead and buy it and stop missing out. Waiting months to save $5-8 isn't worth it.
@Concertoine
Hate to break it to you, but I wasn't born the day I made a profile on here. I've been getting on here for a long time (and other similar sites), I just never used to comment. And you really don't remember one generation of consoles ago? Well basically, everything Sony did was bad, according to people on any gaming sites. PS3 was going to be the next Dreamcast because it was too expensive and had "no games," Sony was going to go out of bus...
Agree for the most part, although I think GT Sport may have lower sales numbers than some people think. It isn't going to have as much of a fleshed-out single player as other entries, it hasn't been marketed super well, and it isn't a numbered sequel (this matters). I'm sure it will sell well, but I don't think it will touch the sales of 1-5.
I'm also not sure how well Horizon will do. It is massively anticipated by the people who frequent video game...
There's more willful blindness going on for this game than for any I've ever seen before.
@KwietStorm
Changing something good just for change's sake is not good. When companies think they have to change their controllers to be new, you get the Wii U controller.
I think a lot of people are remembering this game through nostalgia glasses. This game was only big because there was very little on the 360 at the time.
"you can wait til the release date"
LOL.
Are you being serious or throwing shade at CS:GO?
@C-H-E-F
True, but I feel like most people with plus just get everything even if they haven't heard of it, just because it is free. And you could get the PS plus titles for PS4 even before you got one just by purchasing them on your phone or PC.
It'll be interesting to see if there is any actual intent to cut down on this sort of misleading content, or if that article was just removed because it involved a "famous" person.
A SNES mini would be awesome. Heck, maybe Nintendo should just release a sub-$150 virtual console unit with 100 of the best games from their first 3 gens. I'm sure a surprising number of "regular consumers" don't even really understand the virtual console aspect of recent Nintendo machines.
Cold winter was a lot of fun.
@Christopher
Okay. For the sake of argument we'll say no one else is ever going to buy Rocket League, and that it won't be a game that ever helps push anyone who doesn't own a console into buying one (both false, IMO, but that's beside the point).
Still, why would you open the door to cross-platform play with this game, when it could lead to devs of bigger, newer games that indisputably affect sales of the console potentially wanting to ad...
