Agreed... Now that Twitch is slowly starting to add the same BS restrictions as YouTube I can see the platform becoming less popular - especially if Live Broadcasts get hit with the same crap.

It seems incredible to me that a service dedicated to streaming games is muting the VOD's of people (in 30 minute chunks) just because the game has some snippet of music that supposedly contravenes copyright...

Ultimately the music industry is to blame as they belie...

@starchild

Because the number of people who DO respond means Steam has an extremely good sample size of data and so is a very good and accurate cross section of the PC gaming population.

Also, by NOT doing the Steam survey you realise that you are not getting your voice heard when it comes to future development of games. Devs take note of stats like Steam Survey when considering the target specs of their games (e.g. If no one who was running DX11 bothered to...

When MS decided to make Kinect 2 mandatory, that was actually a good idea. It meant devs could write games for it knowing every customer had it.

That would mean there was a higher chance that a dev would FINALLY create a killer Kinect app or game and make Kinect more relevant and less of a gimmick or niche product.

By MS taking away Kinect it creates a landscape where some devs will not support Kinect because they cannot guarantee their customers have it any...

It means they still have nearly 7million people playing / paying...

I think 'Titan' or 'Overwatch' are very far in to development, and Blizzard is keeping a lid on it until WoW subscriptions fall to a certain level... Then we'll see a huge announcement about their next MMO (although I suspect it'll be smaller scale and different focus from the traditional MMO's, like EveryQuest, WoW and all the clones).

Finally! £14.99 / £11.99 for MGSV: Ground Zeroes is about right, and arguably the price the game should have been at launch.

No way I was paying 24.99 for a glorified demo, but no hesitation to pick it up for £11.99 with the PS+ discount.

I'm more worried about second rate journalists creating these constant 'should we be worried' articles instead of reporting real news

That was a very long winded way of saying 'They gave us Money'

Assuming none of them get pushed as well at the last minute :)

There's a lot to like on that list at the moment though.

@Septic

Agreed.

Games are pricey enough without a whole load of fluff that usually adds zero to the game itself.

But yeah, if you're a collector I guess they are nice...

I can see the authors point, but don't agree with it.

Complaining about Naxx introducing 'must have' cards is like complaining that Legendaries are too good and shouldn't be allowed in Ranked play.

Nothing in Hearthstone is pay to win, it just takes time to earn the cards for free. Just because Person A has spent $100 on cards and Person B can't afford to, means nothing more than Person B may be slightly less competitive at that moment in...

I already have Guacamelee on other platforms and am not a huge fan of it. I can see it's good, but just not my thing.

Really didn't like Max.

However, one (or even two) games does not excuse the other offerings - which I feel are lower quality on average compared to PS+.

I also don't buy the 'PS+ was poor at the beginning' excuse that some people use. Sony created a new service on consoles, so some caution at the start w...

From a value perspective I think it's good, and as long as it remains optional that's great.

Where it's potentially bad is if every publisher starts doing this (could get expensive fast), and if publishers start using it for exclusive content to provide incentive for people to subscribe (or stay subscribed).

The other area where it's potentially bad is for PS+ and Games with Gold. For those who choose not to use EA Access, there is little cha...

@mechlord

I agree with your post.

I wonder how much the royalties / licensing costs. And why would it increase from one gen to the next (assuming that the increase of RRP is a significant result of those factors).

I recall way back when Nintendo had the 'Seal of Quality' and actually applied it to all games released. Their rules were pretty hardcore, but when you have a 90+% market share with the NES you can throw your weight around...

It did enough 'new' stuff for me.

If you're a PlayStation owner then having a Bungie game should be reason enough for celebration - those guys do know how to make a solid shooter with tight controls.

It may not be revolutionary - but who cares if it's fun.

I'll be buying it despite my reservations about some of the design decisions Bungie have made (no 'opt in' proximity chat. End game Raids limited to Friends only...

I've had an XB1 for a couple of months now. And whilst I appreciate free stuff, the games are well below the quality of what is offered on PS+.

I'm not going to knock and service that gives free stuff - but I really look forward to the games coming for my PS4 (and PS3) every month, but I have much lower expectations for what I'm going to get on my XB1.

4333d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Yes, we should pay. It's an added value service. Discounts and / or rolling one free download in to the 'Instant Games Collection' every month would be nice though.

4333d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

I couldn't get in to this. The whole thing felt a bit mediocre - from controls to game play to graphics.

It's nice to get free stuff - but MS really need to step up the quality of releases to compete with PS+.

I got this game for free with my XB1. The guy in the shop advised me to never play it. I still have it sat in the cupboard in shrink wrap.

The trade in value is almost zero.

The cost of games is an interesting debate...

Here's the thing I have never been able to fully get my head around...

To produce a PC game costs X

To produce a console game costs X plus License fee to manufacturer

For YEARS PC games have had higher resolution, higher quality textures, and generally require at least as much effort, if not more effort, to produce than a console game (as PC devs need to account for differing ...
