What this dumbass CEO said was disgusting. I hope he goes. Shows he's out of touch and has no respect for his employees.
I'd boycott Crytek games but that only hurts the people who make the games. I'm sure Yerli gets his cut no matter what happens.
Yeah, agreed. This game is going to be good.
My concern is that at some point we want to actually play more than a thin slice of it, and one that has all systems in place.
At the moment it seems like 'more money = more stuff'. Which is fine, as long as 'more money + more stuff =/= more time before we can play it'!!
I'd rather 'more money = faster release of the core'
Whatever happens, it's g...
This was Molyneux's chance to redeem himself; prove his relevance to the real gamers who fondly remember Populous and Syndicate, Black & White and Dungeon Keeper, and show that he can still create or re-create genres and actually make a game that lived up to his hyperbole...
Oh well...
This is the key to the argument really.
I have paid for a lot of Early Access games, and have already got my money's worth. In fact, in some cases, like Prison architect, I have had to stop playing it as I don't want to be burned out by the time they ever get in to final release (or even Beta!) - but every month more polish is added, and more features.
The problem is, when people don't get value for money and have little option to get refunds......
Yeah, I'm sure we would all feel so lucky to pay £200 to be an alpha tester on Elite: Dangerous!!
Unbelievable!
These arguments make me laugh.
Back when I was a kid we argued about Spectrum versus Commodore 64. The Speccy could only output something like 8 colours at a time versus the Commodore 64's 16 colours.
THAT's a real technical difference. Not a few unnoticeable pixels!
But the Speccy had more, and better, games (so the argument went).
And while I'm being a old git... I remember on my Vic 20, when I got a Snooker g...
War?
It's a war?
Is it a resolution war, or a war with no resolution?
Have any fanboys blown blood vessels stressing and arguing about something so pointless?
Perhaps we should have a memorial.
nintoddlers. Lol, did you come up with that all by yourself! Well done
<Goes back to playing games... on all platforms, including the awesome games on WiiU>
Depends on the developer and the price.
If it's a well respected developer (like Introvision with Prison Architect) then it's worth the risk. Their game is still in Alpha, and yet is better than many final releases I have seen. their previous games have been excellent.
If the developer is unknown, and the price is low then I may take a risk. For example, Darkwood. The KS price was low enough to take a gamble. It has paid off so far.
Yeah, it is likely that at some point in the future we'll all have internet enabled TV's / devices and MS / Sony will have developed streaming services to the point that it will be as commonplace to stream a game as it now is to stream a movie via Netflix etc.
We are moving toward a service driven landscape for gaming rather than hardware driven one. It will take a long time, but I can't see any other way it can go.
I think 5-7 may be too soon as...
I'm not that bothered really. I game on a decent PC, I have a PS4, XB1 and WiiU. Art direction almost always trumps resolution. However in some games higher frame rate is important - Shooters and racing games are two - but I'd rather have a lower locked fps than an unlocked higher fps.
Resolution... Big whoop. I played Destiny on PS4 and XB1 and the differences were unnoticeable to me during game play. I have no idea what the resolution is for most games in my co...
A hardcore Marvel (or DC) based RPG along similar lines to how Mass Effect plays would be great.
I suspect that it'll work by checking if you drop below a certain threshold of broadband speed and seamlessly switch to the 'non-Azure' code.
As this is only visual eye candy stuff it shouldn't be game breaking if you lose internet while playing.
@Barnaby
There will always be fanboy hate, but outside of that I think some of the scepticism comes from people who think MS have being doing too much 'Tell' and not enough 'Show'.
We've seen one demo of the physics tech in gaming (the building explosion from the dev conference a few months back), and that was under controlled conditions (were the cloud servers next door or 500 miles away), and was not a true comparison (the demo person tu...
"But in fact, we are kind of creating two-in-one. One with Azure available, and one for offline only. Everything you code, you need to code for two scenarios. This is a ton of work. if online = dynamic grass; if offline=static grass."
This statement answers the biggest question I've had about using Azure... How it handles offline.
If this statement is true in every case I can't see many devs really putting extra effort in to a feature that s...
Yeah, I downloaded the Excel sheet on the MS site with all the financial info in. It certainly makes different reading than what Dual Shockers have assumed.
Sooner or later it MIGHT have happened, but Twitch showed no sign of doing this until Google started showing interest.
uStream and Hitbox are not doing it.
It would not be in Sony's interest to create a service to stream games and then mute or censor or ban streams that had music that some label wants to strong arm people under the name of 'copyright infringement' rather than 'fair use' - it would undermine the entire service, so I suspect...
Yeah, can't wait for the sequel / prequel... I hear it's set almost exactly 20 years before the events of 1886 :)
To their credit it seems to be getting better.. But t's still not the greatest even with a really fast connection.
MS = 1pm
Sony = 6pm
