If you ONLY use consoles for gaming, and ONLY use PC for email, word processing, basic apps etc then this can make sense.
However, (and please correct me if I'm wrong), but couldn't you access Googlemail, Calendar and Apps from the PS3 browser? Basically Google gives a person all the basic apps they need to make a PS3 a 'PC'.
But from a gaming perspective the PC platform is just as important and viable as the console platforms - so if you are a PC gamer there's ...
@7.3 Agreed...
The N4G guidelines are clear - this is Burnout Paradise, Gamespot Hands-on.
Yet somehow it's twisted so the lead point of title is flamebait. It kinda saps any credibility you have MK_Red.
The exclusive feature for PS3 is one sentence in the third paragraph of the article, and it's obvious it's only exclusive to PS3 as Xbox has Live - which is a more standardised online platform.
I've been thinking of subscribing to Creators Club for a while as I dabbled in programming many years ago, and would like to apply some of that (now deeply buried) knowledge to creating games.
Unfortunately that weird thing called real life intrudes on my daydreams of creating the next Geometry Wars so I don't have the time right now!! :)
Ah, Parasite Eve, what good memories!! Thanks for reminding me of that series, would be nice to see it on PS3 or 360.
It's difficult to see where GameDaily are coming from on this one. It appears the versions are identical in everything except graphics, yet they seem to focus a lot more on the negative in the 360 review.
In the 360 demo I honestly couldn't recall a moment when I thought the sky or distant background objects looked bad - I guess I was too focused on the game play and the quality of the graphics where it mattered. Does the game deserve to be knocked down 2 points just because o...
The puzzling thing is the bit about Valve not wanting the article to appear on N4G. That seems fishy to me, and I would suspect it unlikely that Valve have no idea how the submission and approval system on N4G works.
It's not PSU's fault that it appeared here and what could they do about it? Any individual can post news to this site so for Valve to stipulate specifically that the news should not appear here is just doesn't sit right.
In reality Valve has about ...
I hear what you guys are saying, maybe I've been burnt too many times being an early adopter!!
There will come a tipping point where there's too many compelling reasons to buy a PS3. I can see it's a console that's in it for the long haul and will eventually prove amazing value for money, even for those who jumped in early.
If Sony holds good it's 10 year life cycle claim then the purchase cost of the PS3 spread over that time period isn't far off 10 years of...
I'm usually a gamer who uses reviews to get a general feel for a game rather than being swayed by the difference between 80% or 90%... For example, having completed BioShock I can say it is an excellent experience and the reviews were right that is is a quality product; but the actual scores were hugely over the top (I'd give it 89 or 90%).
However I'm currently looking for a reason to buy a PS3 right now, so reviews become a bit more important. And both Lair and Heavenly Swor...
This is a massive pain in the neck (to put it mildly).
This may not be a huge issue to some people, but there are occasions when internet access is not available. The point is I've bought something and can not use it as I want because of the poor reliability of the console (which is hardly my fault).
I have heard that people have called up MS Customer Support and managed to get their points refunded to re-buy the games on their replacement console.
@49.1
You're welcome! (although I guess you won't be seeing this) If you checked my other posts you'd see I'm a pretty neutral in most of my posts.
As an owner of a PSP I can certainly state that the analogue stick is awful, and it's amusing to see people claiming this feature will be a PS3 system seller.
If you had a choice between the devs spending more time getting the controls right in the game (which seem to be the biggest negative in the revi...
If I'm getting this right, you have to have the game in your PS3 and running... so the PSP is being used as a dumb terminal that receives the output from the PS3 (where all the scaling/resampling for the PSP's display occurs I would imagine).
OK, from a technical standpoint it's cool, but what's the point?
It doesn't make Lair truly portable (as I can't take it on the train or whatever), and if I'm limited to playing it at home why not just play it on a big HDTV ...
Its kinda funny how PS3 owners claim that the only thing on the 360 is FPS games (despite evidence to the contrary), and yet three of the most hyped exclusive games on the PS3 are... Resistance, Killzone 2 and Haze...
This is getting crazy... I WANT to buy a PS3, I feel I owe it to myself to own one of these damn things (in addition to my 360 and Wii, and pretty much every major console since the late 70's).
But for every release which should pull me closer and closer to handing over my money, I instead get pushed further away because of substandard releases!
Most PS3 titles (Lair, Heavenly Sword, even Resistance and Motorstorm) sound more like solid rentals than 'must-own-AAA...
As long as Halo 3's single player campaign is better than the trash that was Halo 2 I'll be happy to finish the fight!
At the moment I am cautiously optimistic about Halo 3's SP, but certainly not buying in to the hype. The multiplayer could well raise the bar with it's depth, balance and features.
That'll be interesting to see if it happens...
Bioware are a developer with some quality pedigree and a history of AAA games, compared to say... ummm I dunno, Guerilla Games for example, who have produced nothing but rubbish so far and yet seem to be 'the Next Big Thing' in terms of hype for Killzone 2.
Also the sites that said the preview was boring only watched someone else play, and that was mostly conversation gameplay rather than action. I don't know about ...
This just feels like an old school JRPG circa FFVIII. In fact for some reason it kinda reminds me of Grandia I think on the Dreamcast.
Personally, about 4 hours in I'd give it 7.5/10 - but that's personal opinion, I can easily see some people loving this game and others detesting it. It's a solid JRPG (<-- that's the important bit).
It appears it was very well received in Japan - and resulted in the Blue Dragon / 360 bundle selling out very quickly, and also ...
As a 360 owner waiting for BioShock to drop through the letterbox any day now, and having been really impressed by the demo, I sincerely hope PS3 owners one day get to experience this awesome game (but not too soon - exclusivity - even timed - is cool y'know ;) )
I agree Panther.
Buzz on Playstation has shown there's a big market for this type of party game. No shock that MS have followed suit. I'm looking forward to playing this over a few beers with some buddies.
Would be even greater if teams of 4 vs 4 vs 4 vs 4 could multiplay over Live!!! Or maybe 1 person vs teams of 4 for the serious quiz master!!!
No chance the 360 and PS3 are doomed. Just as there's a huge number of cars to suite all budgets and drivers... there needs to be a range of consoles to suit tastes.
The Wii can not deliver the same types of immersive experience that 360 and PS3 can (see Bioshock), but it is perfect in many other respects.
This generation of gaming is starting to show a defined segmentation between casual, low cost gaming and more hardcore, expensive gaming (bit of a generalisat...
Bioshock was definitely the best game I've played this year (so far!!)
But I agree with Edge magazine's review which gave it 8/10.
Bioshock delivered great graphics and atmosphere, but I felt the first few hours were much stronger than the rest, and the game never quite lived up to the depth of something like System Shock series or Dues Ex.
In fact the game felt a bit too linear. Instead of exploring Rapture I was just being funneled from level to ...
