BTW... this game plays much better with the 360 racing wheel. I first played the demo with joypad and it took a lot to get used to it. With the wheel it's a much better experience and captures the spirit of the arcade game even better.
As a 360 owner I feel kinda proud that we have a title like Halo which gets gaming in to the spotlight on mainstream news etc. It's good for gaming and it's good for the industry.
Just as PS3 owners should be proud that they have some great titles, maybe not quite as 'mainstream media big' as Halo, but still impressive and important (GT5, MGS4 etc). I'm sure LBP is going to get a lot of media coverage outside of the traditional gaming press/websites.
The 360 is...
I thought the demo captured the spirit of the Sega Rally games very well - both arcade and Saturn versions, so I'm looking forward to buying this. It's nice to have a good arcade style racing game.
Many games have had this 'problem'. Pretty much every title in the Extreme G series allowed this on many tracks. Also, as JOLLY1 mentioned... wallriding in GT was possible, and is much more annoying in a simulation type of game than an arcade game.
Yipppeeee!
Phil's statement that developers can implement rumble on the PS3 in the same way as PS2 makes me think that Touchsense won't be included.
If this is the case it'll be a real shame.
If it also means that somewhere down the line the PS3 ends up with another iteration of the controller including Touchsense I think it'll be a bit much to ask consumers to keep buying updated hardware.
I love the rumble in my 360 controllers, but Touchsense really is a b...
Maybe it was the naivety of youth, maybe there wasn't so much riding on every review score... but I yearn for that time, long ago, when reviews seemed unbiased, I could trust publications not be in a publishers pocket, and there wasn't a million and one fanboys picking holes in every word of a journalist's text!
Not trying to start a European territory flame war here, but the thing I found most interesting was that the UK is pretty much the only relevant part of the European console market.
Selling a few thousand here and there in other European territories is barely worth the logistics and marketing costs for Sony and MS.
Kinda annoying that one of the reasons we in the UK sometimes have to wait for games is because of the time it takes to translate the Euro versions in...
There's plenty of great multiplayer games out there. If adding multiplayer to BioShock 2 detracts from the development of the single player experience I think that's a bad thing.
It was pretty obvious playing BioShock that the budget or deadlines or whatever started to pinch, as the game was definitely weaker towards the end. If the devs have to split resources and budget between single and multiplayer, then that's not a good thing for a story driven game.
I do...
One of the (minor) reasons I've been holding off getting a PS3 is because it seemed so obvious they would eventually add rumble (especially when they started clearing stock by bundling 2 SIXAXIS with the PS3). It may be a small thing, but I think rumble is important to some games, and I didn't like the idea of buying an 'incomplete' console.
If they can start bundling the Dualshock 3 with the console by the time Ratchet and Drakes is out I'll be picking up a PS3 finally!
Regardless of personal or fanboy opinion the Halo hype is a good thing for the industry.
It pulls more people in to gaming, which can only be good for the industry; and gets gaming on the radar of your average person in the street.
The sooner gaming is accepted in the mainstream the sooner people like Jack Thompson will lose their leverage and soap boxes.
This has nothing to do with the quality of SK's output and everything to do with honouring contracts.
If Epic were in breach of the contract, then SK has every right to go after them. There's far too much money riding on games these days to allow your middleware provider to not uphold their end of the bargain.
I don't think it would be bad for the industry at all if SK won. It would mean that middleware companies have to be in a position to provide support and ...
Deep breath's dude!! I was only kidding about a 3D Street Fighter game!! :)
However as long as they keep doing the 2D stuff I don't a problem with a 3D version as long as the female characters have big bouncy bewbs!!!! /joking
Well, if we're going to speculate...
Monster Hunter MMO
A 3D update of an old franchise such as Mega Man or Bionic Commando (would work well with SIXAXIS or Wiimote)
A 'true' 3D Street Fighter.
(And if we're lucky, maybe a new Clock Tower)
Care to elaborate??
Is it because YOU don't like JRPG's? In which case everything you don't like must automatically suck. Or is it just because it's on the 360?
I'm part way through the 2nd disc, and I'm really enjoying the game. It's old skool JRPG, and that's fine by me. I love JRPG's, but this is the first one that has kept my attention for a while - I got bored of FFXII.
Blue Dragon doesn't innovate, doesn't try anything particularly new, but as I've argued before - not every game NEEDS to bring something new to the table. It's a fun story wrapped up in solid gameplay. EDIT: I should add that the game has an excellent class syst...
In all fairness the HDMI enabled Premiums are labelled as such on the box.
And if rumours are true, the 65nm units are already heading to the channels, so it won't be too long before 65nm becomes the standard.
However, only the CPU is moving to 65nm, the GPU will remain at 90nm for the foreseeable future - and while the smaller die CPU will help the power/heat issues, it's the GPU where most of the RROD problems stem from.
I would have thought any ...
It's a shame that over the next few years, as online gaming gets even bigger, developers and companies like MS and Sony are going to have to invest time and money developing more and more robust tools to eliminate these racist idiots from our online communities.
It's not enough that we can mute, provide negative feedback, or kick these people from our games, we need a system where people are banned from online gaming - and that means the console manufacturers, server providers ...
If one good thing comes from the release of Skate is that it looks like it has made Neversoft turn it up a notch with their new Tony Hawk game.
I tried the demo of Skate and just couldn't get on with the controls. I think it's going to be a love it or hate it thing with the game.
You make a good point there - perhaps the weight of expectation that Sony has created around the PS3 is causing reviewers to take a harder line against the games.
Or maybe some PS3 games are just not delivering regardless of the hype.
One thing is for sure... Reviewers shouldn't be receiving 'How to...' guides on reviewing a particular game. That just smacks of desperation on the part of Sony and the Devs.
Episodic releases sound great in principle but has been pretty bad in practice.
Even Sam n Max would have been better as a single game rather than 6 episodes.
Half Life Episodes has proved that it just doesn't work. Time between releases means the story loses momentum. I enjoyed HL2, but was bored by Episode 1, and I just can't be bothered with Episode 2.
With the speed of change in the industry relying on an aging engine can be fatal. By the ti...
