It's utterly pointless to give out a demo for a game someone already wants to play.
My issue with demo's is the timing of the release.
It appears that the Killzone 2 demo will be available the day before the full retail launch - that's useless for someone like me.
I am on the fence about KZ2, and will not buy until I play the demo. If the demo was released a week or two before the retail launch I would have time to pre-order if I liked it.

Personally I don't think Fallout 3 should be GoTY, but I honestly can't think of a title I would put ahead of it!! So in some ways it wins by default!
Every top game this year had more faults than I was happy with...
Controls in LBP were just not tight enough to warrant GoTY.
Gears 2 was a bit to similar to GoW, and failed to push the series onwards. I would actually say it was boring in places
Fable 2 was far to buggy and similar to Fable 1, but a lot ...
Some of those predictions were so vague and ambiguous!
Resident Evil 5 will be a disappointment - but only listed under the PS3! Are they expecting a game (which has already been shown as identical on both 360 and PS3) to somehow only be a disappointment on PS3?
And how come Home will bleed gamers dry, and yet if their prediction that MS will make a big announcement about micro-transaction s WON'T be designed to remove money from gamers wallets!?
Predic...
Yeah, good luck BFG.
Considering how many 'boutique' builders have fallen by the wayside, I would have to question the logic of going so high-end with prices. Especially in the current economic crisis.
I'll certainly be checking them out come Jan 19th, but doubt they'll be quite good enough value for money to tempt me!
If the reason for delay was genuine I wouldn't mind so much. It's the fact that the game is practically finished on PS3, and yet we will STILL have to wait for it.
All the PS3 version needs is localisation - but MS's deep pockets have effectively blocked PS3 owners getting the game when originally planned by SquareEnix.
To compound the pain, the PS3 is not exactly a hot bed of JRPG's.
I agree with your second paragraph. Look at Disgaea on PS3. Got poor scores in some reviews because the sprites were not HD.
If it means a shorter dev time then I'm happy with lower quality graphics in some games.
You only have to look at the types of games out at the moment. The trend seems to be.. The better they look, the shorter they are.
For something like Odin Sphere, or Disgaea - I'd much rather have the devs put money in to making a mass...
There once was this nice girl called SquareEnix. She had a lot going for her and was really happy with her true love, a guy called Sony.
But Sony started neglecting her, and eventually she fell off the rails and, in secret, became a pole dancer. She didn't really enjoy this life, but she made friends with a few of the other dancers.
That's where she met this guy called Microsoft. He would turn up to the strip club and throw money at all of SquareEnix's new dan...
I agree with you guys.
If the PS3 is going to be around for 10 years (and I see no reason why not), then Sony need a sensible approach to dropping the price.
Every time the knock $50 off the price they'll see a sales spike. It doesn't matter if MS have an 8, 10 or 20million unit lead. Profit is the #1 priority for businesses and MS are crazy to think they can still keep shoveling money in to the Xbox team.
One thing that is extremely noticable by...
Video game development is a competitive business. In my experience coders love to outdo each other for efficient and innovative solutions to coding problems.
I'm sure it's the same for texture artists and so on for every role in development.
So in that respect, then Yes, KZ2 will raise epxectations. Developers will be raising the expectations of what their teams can achieve.
But there's also another factor of KZ2 development that can raise expe...
I think a games console is one area where Apple may not be able to work it's magic (and by magic I mean make something shiny and lacking features, charge a fortune for it and sucker people in to buying it - btw I do own an iPod Nano!).
We already have an 'Apple' style product in the marketplace to some extent... It's called the Wii.
What could Apple offer than a) gets developer support, and b) carves out a profitable chunk of the market.
What sort ...
My 4 things I think Sony should do to save the PS3 from this dire and almost impossible position! /sarcasm
1. Ensure a staggered release of consoles, so previous gen offsets next-gen, rather than kill the previous gen after a short amount of time
2. Ensure they support their consoles for approx 10 years or more, giving gamers value and options.
3. Make sensible price cuts, which support the 10 year plan and ensure profitablility, rather than kne...
If Sony are 'artsy' I hope they never change.
'Artsy' give us God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, LBP, Eye of Judgement, Heavy Rain and so on and on and on.
All games that have phenomenal art direction, and are experiences and risks developers on other consoles seem afraid to take or provide.
I guess I'm just a grumpy old git of a gamer! :)
There's nothing wrong with helping gamers out to be honest. I'm just from the school of pixel perfect jumps, three lives, and a continue if you are lucky, gaming!! :)
Welcome to N4G
All logic and reason should be left at the door. Flameproof underpants are optional.
:)
To me, both the GC and N64 were bigger 'successess' than the Wii. They had some awesome games on them.
I assumed this would continue in to the Wii era so bought a Wii day 1 (as I did with the GameCube).
I consider myself a gamer and enjoy casual, hardcore and any genre of game - but the majority of Wii games are just so poor. It's one thing to cater to the larger (casual) market - but another to dumb down core franchises, produce shovelware and use those causal...
Congrats to Nintendo for getting back on top of the console pile.
It's just a damn shame that to do it they had to shaft the hardcore gamers and dilute their brand until it was a pale and insipid version of their past glories.
:(
In this case the article was approved by an Admin (Catastrophe).
This admin has a 'weighting' of 10 - As each article needs 10 approvals, it only took one click to get the article through.
It raises the question of bias by the Admins, because this article is obviously full of inaccuracies, and despite being reported a few times was still approved.
Personally I don't mind articles that are flamebait as long as they present a reasoned and accurate ar...
Never argue with an idiot - they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience...
I'd like a set of switches that could be attached to the Sackboys and girls in a level.
So for instance a 'health bar' switch with amount of health and number of respawns/lives settings - so that players could create proper deathmatch levels using the paint gun.
It would also be good to be able to set the level of damage exploding blocks do, so that players could make grenades/gun turrets.
And add damage to the slap move for melee combat!
Having played Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band - I can safely say that Neversoft have zero idea how to put together the note tracks.
The notes on GHIII are just wrong - they give no feeling of actually shredding through a song properly.
Harmonix are the masters of music games. GHIII is just a pale imitation of what Harmonix made great.
