This is slightly off topic....
Assuming Sony goes with the Cell architecture again on the PS4... And if the rumours are that MS are moving to a different make of CPU for the Next Xbox...
...I wonder if in the next gen we'll see multi-plat engines focus on the Playstation 4 more, in the same way the Unreal Engine has generally favoured the 360 this gen.
Multi-plat devs will have a whole generation of getting used to the Cell architecture. ...
The game is great fun whichever platform you buy it on.
Remember that? Fun? It was the reason most of us got in to gaming.
Platform pissing contests don't interest me.
Yeah, I bought my Dreamcast pretty much cus I loved Crazy Taxi in the arcades.
Can't wait for this on PSN.
Yeah, MS have done great things this gen, and the 360 can only be seen as a huge success. Even if the PS3 overtakes it in sales at some point, the market share MS have grabbed is impressive.
Maybe the 360 doesn't need Blu-ray. Maybe the Next Xbox won't need blu-ray; but you give developers the space to store data, and you can bet they will use every bit of it. And that can make for richer experiences. You may love Halo 3 and Reach, but I don't, and my 360 game ...
Because Launch titles are always the measuring stick for hardware RIGHT?!?! /S
That argument is getting more and more tired every generation.
The PS3 is now a known quantity for developers. Move has been in development for a long time. There's no excuse not to have an awesome launch line up. Especially when you consider that the PS3 has had rudimentary motion control since Day 1 in the SIXAXIS / DS3!!
I'm not hating on PS3 - it'...
Until something comes out that actually looks like a decent gaming experience I'll pass.
I bought a Wii day 1. The games are OK, but it's been my least favourite Ninty console. Motion controls - no matter how accurate (or not) are just not for me right now. I hate playing Mario Galaxy with the Wiimote. However, as a console that friends can play together, it's great.
The Move has yet to show anything that makes me think it's worth trying (l...
I still can't understand how the same people on this site, who once bashed the Wii, are suddenly getting so excited for Move / Kinect.
If there's one thing the launch line up of Move titles has shown (and no doubt Kinect will be the same), is that no one has (yet) brought anything new or fresh to the motion control market.
The launch titles for Move seem like Wii rip-off's with more grown up graphics. I'll pass until Sony / MS come up with a ...
Why wouldn't people compare them? Turn 10 called Forza 3 the definitive racing game this generation. At the moment it's the benchmark game in this genre, so a comparison is pretty fair.
But just to use your argument... The 360 had an extra year of sales, but people still compare the numbers! I just fail to see what could be gained from his.
Yeah that was a nice announcement.
But I've still not seen anything to convince me that Kinect works as advertised and promised.
A couple of those 5 games look great, and couold potentially push me towards buying Kinect - but if the tech isn't there to back it up then forget it.
For every dollar spent on advertising MS could have spent it on perfecting the tech. It's a classic smoke and mirrors campaign from MS!
@Natsu
Because it would lose all the charm of the 2D sprites; massively inflate the budget and dev time; and probably mean a stripping down of features.
The whole APB thing has been a real fiasco.
What I hate about this is that the top guys at Realtime have basically screwed up the company with bad management and design decisions and yet walked away with enough loot to be able to buy back in to one of their other projects.
So the 'lowly' devs who put in the hard work, and customers who handed over their money in good faith get royally screwed, and the powers that be just walk away.
I haven't played Reach, and not a big fan of Halo. But that article was pretty pointless. Of course there will be a few issues at launch - should people accept this? Maybe not, but the reality is, I don't think a single online multiplayer game has ever had a 100% smooth launch.
The issue with Firefight and the 4GB S is very annoying if it's not clearly stated on the box. My old 20GB 360 is making a few weird noises (according to my buddy who has borrowed it!!)...
I know, crazy isn't it. Leave your sense of humour at the door when entering N4G!! :)
Don't care about the glasses... it's the price
I too am building up to another DS play through.. although I never finished it the first time.
Unfortunately my 60GB PS3 died and I lost my save. The commitment of time and concentration to play through DS again evades me at the moment!
:)
Yup.
If FROM Software make a tidy profit from Project Dark, then it could be argued that money could be invested in to a PS3 exclusive Demons Souls 2.
I swear some fanboys would prefer a company go out of business than go multi-plat!!
Well said blindfromthedun
There was nothing about DS that could not be done on the 360 from a technical point of view.
Graphics did not make DS a great game. The game play and art style made the game what it was.
lol.
Guess I should have used /jk.
I imported Demon Souls long before the masses were declaring it the renaissance of challenging RPG's. But of course, you can't have an opinion round here with out being labelled a fanboy.
Although I stand by the statement that Demon Souls wasn't an enjoyable game, it was a challenging and rewarding game.
You can try it, but the resolution of the Kinect camera isn't good enough to detect objects that small, Jellybalboa!

It's an interesting solution to a non-existent problem.
All this talk about about levelling the playing field for casuals etc is rubbish. Casuals play WoW and many other MMO's. They find groups of other like-minded people, or they play solo, or they group with more hardcore friends who help them out.
The 8 hour fatigue system does nothing to help people with less time on their hands - what it does is hinder the players who enjoy the game and want to...
