Call me an idiot all you want buddy if that what gets you off, makes no odds to me. I never said when it'll happen just that the trend suggests it will at some point. Of course trends can change.
Maybe when the next Halo / Gears / Fable / Forza / Alan Wake or Kinect launches we'll see that gap actually widen consistently.
.
And in 2007 the 360 fans said the gap would grow.
And in 2008 the 360 fans said the gap would grow.
And so on...
How dare Sony deliver quality games, or invest in studios and new IP instead of marketing and turgid rehashes of tired IP. How could they delay their launch so they could push new technology, cus no one needs Blu-Ray right? Why oh why is it that they consistently deliver a balanced portfolio of games without alienating any one audience. And worst o...
I agree it's pointless to argue. But looking at sales data is kinda interesting.
Going way back to when Atari had dominance, then Nintendo, then Sony, and now kinda back to Nintendo it's interesting to see the cycles sales and market share go in. (People mock Sony for getting knocked off it's perch, but it's the only company to dominate 2 successive generations; and people forget that Nintendo lost a 90%+ market share after the NES)
Atari sho...
@NuBUDI
Only idiots said the PS3 would overtake the 360 in 07, 08 and 09. If you listened to them you allowed yourself to get dragged down to their level.
It's just as easy to argue about the 360 fanboys who said the gap between 360 and PS3 would extend in 07, 08 and 09!
It doesn't take much to see that the gap has closed since the PS3 launched - and unless Kinect gives a big boost to 360 hardware sales, the trend will continue and e...
@raztad.
Agreed.
And even if there were 2million sat in warehouses or on shelves, those units have still been paid for by the retailer - so are legit sales to report.
Sony doesn't give away it's stock for free to retailers in the hope they sell them on and give Sony a cut. Sony invoices retailers, retailers sell to customers.
Retailers create forecasts so they have an idea of how many units they will sell. They'...
@Cueil
I know everyone has this massive argument of shipped vs sold - but in reality the difference in numbers is going to be a fairly small percentage compared to the total number of units out there in consumers hands.
There's only one way the shipped vs sold argument matters - and that's when a company tries to 'stuff the channel' to inflate their figures - and even that only lasts a couple of Quarters maximum as it's just not cost effec...
@RememberThe357
I see Kinect the same way I see any console when decided whether to buy it... Does it have a killer app?
For now, Kinect's answer to that is a resounding and deafening NO!
It'll be interesting to see if Kinect creates a short term spike in 360 console sales, or a consistent and sustained increase over the long term, or has very little impact on figures.
I think it's a given that GT5 is going to create a spike or two for PS3 between now and Xmas (especially in Europe). It will be interesting to see if Kinect will have the same effect?
Sales don't mean a whole lot.
It's profit and market share.
Neither Sony or Microsoft have been impressive when looking at profit. Nintendo blows them away.
Sony have lost a significant amount of market share, so MS and Nintendo are winners here.
The PS3 is a fantastic piece of kit, and although I own a Wii, 360 and PS3 I use the PS3 far more than the other two combined, so sales don't mean much (beyond ensuring ...
This is what I don't understand.
How can 360 fanboys (who probably dissed the Wii) jump on Kinect with such love and devotion!
The hypocrisy is hilarious... PS3 fans slate Kinect without trying it, yet 360 fans claim it is amazing without trying it!!
I have a 360, and I'm disappointed with the direction MS is going. And any harcore gamer should also be angry that MS are throwing so much money at Kinect. If the 500million budget is t...
In fairness, games don't cost £130 - and often have demos to try. So it's understandable that some people won't want to lay down their money until they try it.
Even if MS haven't bought off any websites or publications, the industry as a whole has very little credibility (only last week Bethesda were rumoured to have influenced or pulled reviews), so some scepticism is understandable - especially after all the vids of Kinect failing when demoed at shows ...
Considering the size of the download I was a little disappointed the demo was so short.
But what was there was fantastic, and it looks like Criterion have nailed it again. Remains to be seen how deep the game play really is though, but I have no doubt this will be the best arcade racer this year.
"enslaved sold 40k units on 360"
That is interesting, and a bit of a shame.
I liked the demo and will pick the game up when I'm done with Dead Rising 2.
Any info on how many the PS3 sold? (I'm not trying to flamebait if the PS3 numbers are higher - genuinely interested if this sort of title is more popular on PS3).
At the moment I prefer the PS3, but I think your question is actually legit.
The PS3 doesn't have a multiplayer FPS that rivals Halo's. I actually prefer KZ2's multiplayer to Halo - but only a blind fanboy would not be able to see the amazing things Bungie has done in multiplayer gaming.
People can argue about MAG's 256player gaming, or the fun of Resistance MP, or the more measured approach of KZ2 - all valid, and I respect people's opin...
I don't need trophies or achievements. The score/rewards are pretty much meaningless.
However in some cases they are cool. For example, in the original Crackdown I played that game waaaay longer than I normally would because the achievements were interesting and fun.
I like achievements/trophies that make me think about playing the game differently or set a specific challenge that makes me go the extra mile in the game.
I hate achieveme...
I'll be getting both on Day 1! :)
I love arcade style racers, and like sims now and again.
IF I could only buy one of those games I'd get NFS - Criterion are one of my fave developers and I was disappointed in Gran Turismo 4 (loved GT1-3 though).
I guess when your bonus is attached to a metacritic rating, a couple of harsh reviews could mean a big difference in your pay packet!!
The industry as a whole - from the manufacturers to the journalists and everything in between - is turning in to a bit of a joke really
I know! I get that feeling too!
Are Sega secretly punishing Yu Suzuki!!?
So not only are sites like LoT keeping fanboys loaded with ammo for the current gen fanboy wars... now they've started stocking ammo to ignite previous gen wars!!!
How about Saturn RE1 vs GC RE1 re-make comparison!
