8GB does seem like a pointless amount. It's too small to really be of any use, they might as well not bother - so either Ninty have something up their sleeve - or they've been a bit too cost concious.
If I can plug in a hard drive then I don't mind - but it does go against the current 'casual gamer' philosophy. Try explaining to a soccer mom why the latest Wii fit doesn't work cus she's filled the 8GB with other stuff.
Only other...
Even if Ninty put a Blu-Ray drive in, there's no guarantee it would be used for movies...
Same as the Wii DVD drive was unable to play movies out of the box because they wanted to keep costs down and not have to pay license fees.
Could end up being the same deal for the Blu-Ray drive.
Lair wasn't half as bad as people make out.
For me the controls were not the biggest issue - they needed tweaking, but not massively - it was the poor mission structure in places and a few other niggles that annoyed me.
I could never understand how the game got slammed so hard. It was decent, and technically very advanced at the time. I think peoples expectations were just sky high
Yes, of course they are! Why wouldn't they.
The old saying 'There's no such thing as bad press' might be hard to believe in this case, with all the Doooooomed articles - but if Sony come out with a stronger, better PSN and gain a few subscriptions to PS Plus - good for us gamers, and good for them
Depends how you look at it...
If we're going purely on the hardware, then I'd say it's the N64 - SNES - GameCube - Wii - NES in that order.
But as the Wii gives gamers the option of playing any Gamecube game on it, and has built in emulators for the other consoles - maybe it is the best.
For me, all the games I really enjoyed playing on Wii did not require the Wiimote at all (Mario Kart, Monster Hunter), or didn't really need ...
Humour is subjective.
Portal 2 was amusing.
I think a lot of the old point and click games were funny - stuff like Sam and Max Hit the Road, Simon the Sorcerer, Monkey Island.
Agreed. This is the biggest data breach in history I believe.
Compensation should be waaaaay down the list of things to do for Sony.
And to those people screaming for compensation... Just shows how much they care about their stolen data. They seem more concerned about getting something for nothing, and getting back on a compromised network than worrying about what data may be in criminal hands or Sony ensuring they improve security!!
@paintsville.
Keep on copy and pasting your FUD in every story. It's really helpful.
So far Sony believe CC details were not stolen, but they have confirmed they were encrypted.
Also people's credit rating won't be ruined even if they are a victim of CC fraud. Almost every credit card company has a responsibility to the customer to protect them from fraud. When someone somehow got hold of my credit card details and tried to use...
News agencies love the big story...
In the UK both the various consumer associations, and other independent advisories, have stated it is not worth cancelling cards.
Sony screwed up massively, but the media are only inflaming things rather than helping.
I'm pretty sure they've reduced the harsh current in 1.5_01. Seems a bit easier to walk in compared to the previous updates where it was impossible.
Sorting out the water is #1 on my Minecraft wishlist.
I don't need realistic physics, I just need a couple of options and a couple of different behaviours.

There's a difference between mass production and yield. Sony were producing Cell's but not on a massive scale as at the time the yield was low per sheet of silicon (no point producing a million Cells when 50% are faulty for example).
This is one of the reasons Sony decided to go with 7 SPU's enabled, because yields of the 'defective' Cell were higher than those with all 8 SPU's working.
As production ma...
My preference is immersive story driven gaming for single player - so this sort of news is a concern. Even if a game has multiplayer, I always play the single player campaign first (CoD, Killzone etc).
Portal 2 seemed to get it right - a really nice single player story, and a sub-story for Co-Op. The quality of the single player makes me want to play CoOp with a buddy (no interest in CoOp with a stranger online), but if Portal 2 didn't have CoOp, I wouldn't be askin...
Some of the games in the Potato Sack were well worth owning, so I doubt anyone would feel too aggrieved by paying for the collection.
Plus if the games were bought separately they still contributed. I already owned a couple of games from the collection - so had fun playing new and unique levels. For example - Defence Grid added two Portal themed new levels, and had Glados voice over work. That cost me nothing extra!
No one was forced to buy this pack. May...

Your comment on Sony not using a 2nd Cell because a mid range GPU was better is false.
Sony chose a separate GPU for 2 (maybe 3) reasons:
1. Yield levels at the time. Sony couldn't produce enough Cell's to be able to do this. They had already fdelayed due to a lack of blue diodes for the Blu-Ray drives. Adding a 2nd Cell would have probably delayed the launch even more.
2. Cost. The Cell was expensive...
The email I got with my Beta code mentioned it was for a selection of PS Plus members.
I'd imagine it's a phased roll-out, and they'll open up to all PS Plus members as they check loads on the servers.
Don't think Sony is scared. Both sides would have agreed this. If Hotz thought he had a case then he didn't have to settle - he seems fairly egotistical, so I can't see he would have backed down unless absolutely necessary. If Sony had a water tight case they wouldn't have offered settlement.
Sony win/Hotz loses, because Hotz has effectively been gagged. Sony also have shown they are willing to invest time/money in to pursuing someone, and shown how seriou...
"The poor performance of this PS2 gem spelled doom for the future of the franchise, but Capcom were willing to give it another shot with a Wii port and Okamiden on DS."
How can a doomed title spawn a port on the Wii, and a new game on DS. Don't think the PS2 doomed Okami at all!
Watched the teaser trailer... looks awful.
Yamazaki: "Ridge Racer has traditionally been a game, which appeals to the mass market due to its simple arcade-like feeling," he said. "With Ridge Racer Unbounded, it's more similar to Need for Speed or Burnout instead of the traditional Ridge Racer."
That's the saddest statement I've heard. Trying to compete with Criterion is a mistake in my opinion. Seems to me this is Ridge Racer...
For me the definition of a hardcore gamer can be applied in many ways and has become very diluted and misused.
There are people who are more passionate about the wider industry, the history of games etc, and specific genres or IP, but that doesn't make them hardcore gamers.
The only definition I might consider is someone that is an expert on a particular game - so someone like Steve Wiebe is a hardcore Donkey Kong player in my opinion.
I ...
