First game had flaws but was fun - looking forward to Darkness 2

Even if Silicon Knights win - it still doesn't justify that excruciatingly long death animation in Too Human!!

"make Racther a hard ass addicited to snorting screws"

I think that would make an excellent re-boot! :) Similar to when Naughty Dog turned Jak badass.

Been playing R&C games since the first one. They are all good fun, and I'm always happy to buy the next iteration .

Any game by Criterion gets my attention - especially Burnout.

Takedown is my fave, but Paradise still gets booted up now and again.

I have a feeling Burnout : Crash will be a PSN game.

If game stores did their job... and parents took some responsibility...Surely the fact the game is sold with an 18 rating (in the UK) would be good enough to get the kids out.

Ah well...

One huge advantage of PC gaming... custom servers... Just boot the idiots out!!

Bungie has a very different relationship with Activision than most devs.

Bungie retain all the IP they create. So really Activision is a publisher only in the truest sense - Bungie can do what the hell they like and on any platform. XBox might get some exclusive or timed exclusive stuff because of the old relationship, and Activisions partnership with MS.

And yeah, Bungie, and Naughty Dog seem pretty friendly. but then again I think a lot of the top studio...

Why?

Because CoD sells a bajillion units. Because consumers buy annual IP with almost no updates. Because risk of failure is too high

Innovation doesn't pay.

I didn't say it was a good idea.. Just an idea!! :)

However, I do think that if PD had just launched with the 200 or so Premium cars, they could have got to market a lot earlier than cramming in all the Standard models as well. Seemed a bit pointless to me. Especially as the game that launched on Day 1 still felt slightly incomplete

I agree with you, but there's loads of problems and factors with video game pricing...

1. When CoD identified itself as the worlds best selling game, we saw a price rise. Idiots still pay over the odds for that series (including me). So why would devs drop their prices when CoD has set a new, higher, RRP. Every dev wants CoD sales figures.

2. Since back when I was a kid saving up pocket money there were tiers of games. There was the Mastertronic 1.99 ...

I used to pre-order or Day 1 purchase every game I was even vaguely interested in.

But as production values get higher I actually find most games now lack depth, and unless they have multiplayer there's little replay value.

So now I am much more choosey about where I spend my money. And for games where I know there's only a short single player campaign, I've started renting them much more.

I suspect this has more to do with profit than any reflection on the industry.

I am only speculating, but I would think NPD is a subscription based service that releases the numbers every month along with a load of other reports and data.

People like Pachter sharing those numbers every month, means a lot of media outlets / analysts don't have to subscribe and can cherry pick the numbers without the context of the backup reports.

I hope Sony win, but unfortunately I think TABSF is right based on recent events.

We all know what Hotz has done, but the evidence is far too circumstantial right now.

Quote 360degrees ".let this be a lesson to anyone out there who actually believes that once you buy an electronic device, that you now OWN it, and are free to do with it as you please...WRONG"

You're talking out of your hat 360. Hotz (and anyone else) can do what they like with the PS3 - it's the distribution of the hack to a the public that is the problem. Sony need his devices / hard drives etc as part of the case, not because they want their property ba...

@Paladz

Are we talking NFS and Burnout as a whole, or just the latest Criterion releases?

Either way I don't agree.

Burnout is one of the most fun arcade racing series of all time, and Paradise was phenomenal (although I think Takedown was my fave in the series).

The latest NFS Hot Pursuit did feel more like a Burnout game than a NFS, it was still fun even if it lacked some innovation (although I would argue that the onli...

Yeah I got some of those clip on L2 / R2 trigger covers. Made a world of difference to most games - especially arcade driving.

I do remove the L2 cover for Killzone though. Find it's comfier for some reason.

"As anybody who owns all three machines knows, Sony’s PS3 DualShock – while a perfectly good joypad – is a few small steps behind the Xbox 360 and Wii controllers in terms of precision"

lolwut?

Have used more controllers than I care to remember over the years, and can safely say that it is not a fact that the DS3 is 'a few small steps behind' compared to 360 or Wii controllers.

None of the main controllers are perfect - ther...

@pixelsword & Blaine
It's a fair point. Neither 360 or PS3 is tapped out for power yet. And no one should read this article and believe Epic is doing anything other than Epic try and sell it's latest Engine upgrade

@Substance101
Go look up PS3 history. Sony planned on only using the Cell for CPU/GPU type functions. But they realised one Cell was not enough, and yields were nowhere near high enough at the time to use multiple Cells. Probably a ...

Well said TheLastGuardian2010 +bub

Some fo the best games I have played were apparently rubbish because of 7/10 or lower scores.

I can understand some people, due financial constraints or whatever, have to be more careful with their money so may sway towards the AAA 9/10 stuff. - It's a shame that so many quality titles get trashed just because of a poor 7/10 review.

I see this argument being slightly pointless.

Move is a complimentary peripheral, Sony have thrown is out there and told the devs 'use it if you want'. Kinect is a business strategy, MS have pretty much bet the farm on it.

Arguing how many Move's have sold is like arguing how many DualShock 3's have sold. No one cares. Kinect is now integral to the future of Xbox, so if it wasn't thrashing Move I would be shocked.

If Mo...

Unfortunate sign of the times. And while idiot consumers agree to pay... this practice will continue and increase.

Stuff like this is exactly the reason Activision is rumoured to be looking to make CoD multiplayer a subscription model - and will make money from it.
