Final Fantasy is pretty dead to me now. SquareEnix have milked it to oblivion and XIII was the final straw. They'll have to pull something damn special out of the bag to get me to buy another FF game.
I really don't mind that Wii U will 'only' bring the graphical horsepower up to 360/PS3 levels.
We're starting to plateau in terms of graphics, so the next jump will not be so significant.
I'm far more intrigued by what I've seen of the Wii U than the Wii.
The stock has dropped (in my opinion) because Nintendo failed to give specs, failed to give a price, and failed to give a hard launch date. The market is nervous be...
I'm really not sure what Molyneaux is doing in his current role.
To me, he seems far better suited to running an independent company who have enough big corporate financial backing to sit back and say 'the game will be done when it's ready' (like iD, Epic and so on); and to be able to come up with those fantastic ideas that gave us Syndicate, Populous and Dungeon Keeper.
Peter is in the same vein as Warren Spector, Richard Garriott, Will Wrigh...
Not exactly sure why, but this E3 lacked a spark.
I know I should be excited by the Vita and Wii U, but I feel kinda meh about it all.
Zero megaton announcements is probably the main reason! Was expecting at least a proper look at The Agent. Also, not sure if it was just me, but there seemed to be masses of CGI footage, but little in-game (thinking, Overstrike, Starhawk, Halo 4)
"This year's Nintendo E3 was like a preview of next year's E3"
Lol, that's a good point.
This isn't really a criticism, but I was expecting way more patches and support for this game.
It definitely felt like the product was 90% complete when I first played it, and the early patches added another 1-2%.
Still enjoying it, just surprised PD have not been pushing it harder, as I felt they had created racing platform in GT5 which could really be built on over time.
We have to remember that Nintendo never make a loss on their hardware - so they could end up charging more than anticipated for the Wii U.
But I would be surprised if it's more than 299 at launch (with no bundled games).
The new controller does look quite neat, but from what I can see it's pretty much a 'dumb' terminal that receives content via the console. This means the controller itself is going to be fairly simple which should keep costs ...
I agree, there was little proper footage.
But I think Nintendo deserved high marks because of the intent they showed.
It was clear to me that they have learned a lot from the Wii in terms of pleasing the hardcore and the casual market. I hope they follow through with this intent.
As a long time Nintendo fan, I was getting ready to write them off based on the Wii as it lacked titles I wanted to play. But the Wii U already looks like it will ...
That's what I thought too.
But I think the following statement from Sega and Randy Pitchford has created some ambiguity and vagueness. What it seems to confirm is that the game is definitely being prototyped, and definitely being considered for full development, and definitely would be a good fit for Wii U - but no one has said it's definitely in development!! Bit strange I guess.

The more I think about the Nintendo event the more I think they 'pulled a Sony'.
It appears that the Colonial Marines footage was from one of the other versions, and the title hasn't even been confirmed by Gearbox for the Wii U.
I get the feeling it was the same for most of the other third party games they showed. I'm not suggesting the footage was completely bogus, but it seems to me all we actually saw was a new peripheral.

Skyrim should be judged against Morrowind, not Oblivion.
I put a lot of hours in to Oblivion, but it was a shadow compared to Morrowind.
I thought this was PC and PS3?
I would imagine the lack of a 360 version is due to the closed framework of Xbox Live.
Quite looking forward to this if it's done right.
Yup. Dirt and Grid are excellent games.
My feeling is they should have added a 20-50% discount from a PSN purchase as an additional option.
I've got all the games on the list, so a discount would have been a nice alternative. There's a few PSN games I have my eye on that I'm just waiting for a price drop
I'm not whining, as Sony could have done nothing. And with the scheme they decided on they probably made the majority of PS3 owners happy in some way.
Unfortuna...
Yeah, same here.
Got all the games, and already a PSN+ subscriber. Disappointing, but oh well. Would have preferred a discount I could put towards some PS Store games.
...Because for a lot of people their interest in a game wanes long before the game 'ends'.
...Because people are having fun.
Don't think I like this idea.
There's something cool about knowing my hand / eye coordination and reaction time is that little bit better than another person when I beat them in an online game. That 'lag' between hand / eye would definitely be reduced with brain control.
I can kinda see brain controlled games working for slower paces stuff, like strategy games, or video board games - but for fast paced stuff I think brain control is as bad as...
I love DiRT and Grid. Codemasters (and Criterion) are the masters of arcade racers these days.
Story may not be bull, but anonymous sources and quoting % changes in returns without baseline figures is not great journalism; so yeah, I'm sceptical!
Cross platform play is about numbers - nothing more. The more people play a game the more it appears popular, so the more investment it gets (in terms of a sequel, or expansions etc)
Where Dust / EVE differs is that it's not only about cross platform gaming, but also cross title gaming. Stuff that happens in EVE Online is going to have a direct impact on Dust 541 and vice versa.
Exciting times.
For me, Dust 541 was the game I am most ex...
